OBJECTIVETo investigate whether intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) can improve the clinical outcomes of the male patients with 100% teratozoospermia.
METHODSWe retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 152 couples undergoing in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET), including 75 cycles of IVF and 77 cycles of ICSI. We compared the rates of normal fertilization, high-quality embryos, transferrable embryos, implantation, clinical pregnancy, and abortion between the two groups.
RESULTSIn the 100% teratozoospermia patients the number of transferrable embryos was significantly lower in the IVF than in the ICSI group (78.91% vs 84.92%, P < 0.05), while the rates of normal fertilization and implantation were higher in the former than in the latter (60.26% vs 57.87% and 48.00% vs 39.55%, both P > 0.05). There were no statistically significant differences between the two groups in the female age, Gn days, Gn dose, BMI, infertility duration, endometrial thickness, and basal serum FSH and E2.
CONCLUSIONICSI cannot improve the clinical outcomes of the male patients with 100% teratozoospermia.

International Eye Science 2007;7(3):626-629
AIM: To explore the characteristic of relaxation of porcine cornea after LASIKMETHODS: Usual LASIK was performed on fresh porcine corneas with stable intraoculer pressure (IOP) maintained through optic nerve irrigation. The ablation depth on stroma is 30%, 50% and 70% respectively. Then the dumbbell-shaped corneal strip specimens were cut and stored in 20% Human Albumin solution for use (4℃).Sip up the Albumin solution on specimens, and fixed them on homemade jig. Stress relaxation tests were erformed on Tytron250 Dynamics Experiment System. the loading speed was 385mm/min,extending ratewas 1.5, and relaxation time was 1 000s. The data werecollected electronically and automatically.RESULTS: In LASIK procedure, though a single flap-cutting can cause a little reduction of corneal stress relaxation (P<0.05,P=0.49), the cornea may still remain its property of visco-elasticity. When ablation depth was 30% or more, corneal stress relaxation decreased to almost one half (P<0.01).The change of corneal stress relaxation degree in vertical meridian specimen was lower than that in horizontal specimen, especially when ablation depth was 70%, and it's statistically significant (P<0.001). In LASIK operation, the more depth the ablation, the more reduce the stress relaxation degree, and it's easy to cause deformation and creep deformation.CONCLUSION: The changes of the stress relaxation in verticai and longitudinal meridian specimens are similar, and slightly obvious in longitudinal specimen, especially in 70%ablation group.
7.Restoration of femoral offset in total hip arthroplasty.
Chinese Journal of Surgery 2004;42(16):997-1000
OBJECTIVETo explore the factors effecting restoring femoral offset and the relation between femoral offset and hip abductor strength during total hip arthroplasty (THA).
METHODSNinety-nine THA for 81 patients were performed from March 1998 to January 2002. And follow-up was finished. There were 53 women and 28 men and the average age was 57 years (29 to 80). The right hip had been replaced in 28 cases, the left in 35 cases and the bilateral in 18 cases. The mean duration of clinical and roentgenographic follow-up was 36.8 months (range, 19 approximately 66 months). A posterolateral approach was used in all THA. The femoral offset and the abductor lever arm were measured from each radiograph. The measurement of the hip abduction strength was made for some THA by the Cybex machine. Statistical data analysis was performed by SPSS10.0 software.
RESULTSFemoral offset correlated positively with the length of the abductor lever arm (r = 0.613; P < 0.001). Simple regression analysis showed that femoral offset was significantly and positively related to the length of femoral neck and neck-shaft angle (r = 0.451, P = 0.001; r = 0.567, P < 0.001). There was a highly significant and positive correlation between femoral offset (and consequently abductor lever arm) and hip abductor strength (r = 0.500, P = 0.009; r = 0.477, P = 0.014).
CONCLUSIONSIt is very important to template both sides of hip preoperatively for restoring femoral offset in THA. Femoral component with more anatomical neck-shaft angle will be used with the increase in the femoral neck length.

9.Effect of preoperative triamcinolone acetonide with 25G minimally invasive vitreous retinal surgery for patients with PDR
International Eye Science 2017;17(5):865-868
AIM: To investigate the effect of preoperative injection of triamcinolone acetonide(TA)with 25G minimally invasive vitreoretinal surgery(VRS)in treating proliferative diabetic retinopathy(PDR)and the prognosis of patients.
METHODS: A total of 108 patients(108 eyes)with PDR to be treated by VRS were randomly divided into two groups. Fifty-four patients, treated with intravitreal injection of TA at 1wk before surgery were included into the VRS+TA group, and 54 cases directly treated by VRS were included into the VRS group. The surgical effect, uncorrected visual acuity(at 3mo after surgery), the best corrected visual acuity, the intraocular pressure(before surgery and at 1wk, 1 and 3mo after surgery)and complications were observed.
RESULTS: The surgical time, electrocoagulation rate, rate of iatrogenic hole and bleeding rate during surgery were significantly shorter or lower in VRS+TA group than in VRS group(P<0.05)while the intraocular filler showed no significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05). At 3mo after surgery, the uncorrected visual acuity and the best corrected visual acuity were improved significantly(P<0.05)while there was no significant difference between groups(P>0.05). At 1 and 3mo after surgery, the intraocular pressure of VRS+TA group was significantly higher than that before surgery(P<0.05)while there were no significant differences between groups(P>0.05). The rate of anterior chamber exudation was significantly lower in VRS+TA group than in VRS group(P<0.05)while there was no significant difference in the total incidence of complications between groups(P>0.05).
CONCLUSION: The application of intravitreal injection of TA in patients with PDR at 1wk before surgery can reduce the difficulty of surgery, shorten the surgical time and reduce complications, which is beneficial to the improvement of visual acuity after surgery.
