Objective To investigate the psychological factors in the spasmodic torticollis (ST) patients and find the possible relationship between mental disorder and the pathogenesis of spasmodic torticollis. Methods All the 21 ST patients admitted were asked to complete the SCL-90. The result was compared with the norm of Chinese. Results Somatization (1.67 ±0.59) scores, anxiety (1.95 ±0.74) scores, phobic (1.63 ±0.59) scores and psychotic (1.56 ±0.60) scores in ST patients, they were higher significantly than the norm of Chinese [ ( 1.37 ± 0.48 ), ( 1.39 ± 0.43 ), ( 1.23 ± 0.41 ), ( 1.29 ± 0.42) scores](P ＜0.05). No significant differences were found the other factors between the ST patients and norm of Chinese. Conclusion Somatization,anxiety,phobic and psychotic are correlated with ST,they may likely contribute to the pathogenesis of ST.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the apoptosis and proliferation effect of matrine on human medulloblastoma cell line D341 in vitro and the effect of the expression of the related caspase 3 and caspase 9 proteins.

METHODSThe D341 cells were cultivated successfully in vitro. Then the cells were divided into 5 groups according to the concentration of matrine (0.5 mg/mI group, 1.0 mg/ml group, 1.5 mg/ml group, 2.0 mg/ml group and the control group was 0 mg/ml). All the experiments were repeated three times. The cell morphologic and structure change was observed with the optical microscope and the transmission electron microscope. The proliferation of D341 cell was analyzed using Cell Counting Kit-8 assay. Apoptosis was detected by Annexin V-FITC/PI double staining. The expression of Caspase3 and Caspase9 was detected by Western blot.

RESULTSWith the effect of matrine, the proliferation inhibition rate gradually increased with drug concentrations increasing, and there was a significant difference (P < 0.01). The inhibitory effect of matrine on cell proliferation was different with the different treatment time, there was a significant difference between the 24 h to 72 h groups (P < 0.01). The apoptotic rate increased with matrine concentrations increasing. There were significant differences between the group of 0.5 mg/mI or 1.0 mg/mI to the group of 1.5 mg/mI or 2.0 mg/mI (P < 0.05). The apoptotic rate increased with the prolonged treatment time. There were significant differences between the group of 24 h or 48 h to the group of 72 h ( P < 0.05). With the increase of matrine concentration, the expression of Caspase 3 and Caspase 9 increased (P < 0.01).

CONCLUSIONMatrine induces the apoptosis, and inhibits the proliferation of human medulloblastoma D341 cells in vitro by up-regulation of the expression level of Caspase3, Caspase9.

Purpose To investigate the expression of GATA3 in breast tumors and its clinical significance. Methods Immunohisto-chemistry EnVision method was used to detect the expression of GATA3 protein in 132 cases of breast malignant tumor tissue, 29 cases of breast benign tumor tissue, 35 cases of breast carcinoma adjacent tissue. Besides, the GATA3 expression level was compared with several clinicopathological parameters. Result (1) All the breast normal tissues expressed GATA3, while 77% of the breast cancer tissue were found to be GATA3 positive. (2) GATA3 did not expressed in diffuse large B cell lymphoma and spindle cell malignant tumor of breast. (3) In the triple negative breast cancer, the expression of GATA3 was lower than that of any other subtypes of breast carcinoma (χ2 =29. 354, P<0. 001). Conclusion The positive expression of GATA3 is correlated to classification and grade in breast tumor. Detection of the expression of this biological maker may provide a valuable marker for the differential diagnosis and prog-nostic of breast carcinoma.

Background Central corneal thickness (CCT) is one of important parameters of the anterior eye segment.It plays a very important part in corneal refractive surgery and diagnosis of glaucoma.Contacted A-scan remains the gold standard for CCT measurement.Ophthalmologists are trying to look for a more convenient and noncontacted instrument to take place of contacted A-scan for CCT measurement.Objective This system analysis was to evaluate the difference between Pentacam and A-scan in CCT measurement.Methods A systematic literature retrieval was conducted from the MEDLINE,EMbase,Google Scholar,CBM disc and CNKI database with the limitation of publishing time from January 2005 to May 2011.The literature text was limited to the comparison of the CCT values measured by Pentacam and A-scan.The statistical analysis was performed using RevMan 5.1.0 software.Sensitive analysis was carried out and the publishing bias was analyzed using inverted funnel plot.Results A total of 26 studies met the requirement were included in this Meta-analysis with the 12 pieces of Chinese article and 14 pieces of English article,with the total eyes 3677.Heterogeneity was found anmong included studies (P =0.0003,I2 =56％) and random effects model was used.The differential value of CCT derived by Pentacam and A-scan was 1.74 μm,and no significant difference was found between Pentacam and A-scan (WMD =1.74,95％ CI:-0.69-4.16,P＞0.05).Fixed effects model was used to exclude the studies with the sample more than 100 eyes as the sensitive analysis.When fixed effect model was used,CCT by Pentacam was 2.73 μm more than A-scan,showing an insignificantly clinical difference.When studies with a sample more than 100 eyes were excluded,the CCT value by Pentacam was 2.64 μm more than A-scan,without clinically significant difference between them.No obvious publishing bias was seen in the included literature.Conclusions The difference between Pentacam and A-scan in CCT measurement is less and could be ignored.

In this paper, the process performance indexes (PPIs) P(p) and P(pk) were introduced and applied to evaluate the process capability and quality consistence of Chinese medicine products. The historical quality analysis data of Qingkailing injection were collected and taken as the research object. The confidence intervals of P(p) and P(pk) were estimated based on the Bootstrap sampling methods. Results showed that the value and width of the confidence interval P(p) of were smaller that of P(pk) suggesting that the P(pk) index was more sensitive than P(p) in process capability analysis. Within the production period concerned, the P(pk) values estimated from different quality indexes of Qingkailing injection, such as baicalin, cholic acid, geniposide and total nitrogen, were 1.122, 2.055, 1.564 and 0.891, respectively. It could be found that the cholic acid had the highest process capability, followed by the geniposide and baicalin. The total nitrogen had the lowest process capability, indicating that it is necessary to reinforce the quality management of total nitrogen related manufacturing processes. The case studies demonstrate the effectiveness and feasibility of PPIs, which are convenient to be used in production practice of Chinese medicine.

Purpose To investigate the clinicopathological and immunohistochemical features of primary small cell carcinoma of the cervix ( SCCC) and its prognosis. Methods 18 cases of primary cervical small cell carcinoma were evaluated by histopathology, in si-tu hybridization and immunohistochemistry and relevant literatures were reviewed. Results The age of the patients ranged from 30 to 69 years ( mean age, 40 years) . Major clinical manifestation was irregular colporrhagia. Colposcopy often revealed a cervical mass or cervical erosion. Microscopically, the tumor cells were small and round and arranged in a solid distribution. The cell had little cyto-plasm and increased karyoplasmic ratio with deeply stained granular chromatin and increased pathological mitosis. Immunohistochemi-cally, the tumor cells were often positive for CKpan, variable positive for Syn, NES, CgA, CD56 and p16. HPV 16/18 were positive in 4 cases. Conclusion SCCC is a neuroendocrine tumor of high malignancy and poor prognosis with a possible pathogenesis of HPV 16/18 infection. CKpan, Syn, CgA, NSE and CD56 are useful markers for the diagnosis of SCCC.
