Aim To investigate the effects of ghrelin on alcohol-induced liver injury. Methods The alcoholic liver injury mouse model was induced by chronic etha-nol feeding ( 4-week ad libitum oral feeding with the ethanol liquid diet) plus a single binge ethanol (5 g· kg-1 ) feeding. The level of alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST) in serum, malondiadehyde ( MDA ) content, superoxide dis-mutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) activities in liver homogenate were assayed by spectro-photometer. Hepatic pathological examination was ob-served by HE staining. The mRNA expression of proin-flammatory cytokines including TNF-α, IL-1β, IFN-γ, IL-6 and MCP-1 in the liver was measured by real-time PCR method. Results This chronic-plus-single-binge high dose ethanol feeding synergistically induced liver injury, inflammation and fatty liver change. Treatment with Ghrelin ( 5 , 10 , 20 μg · kg-1 ) significantly de-creased the enhanced level of transaminase ( ALT, AST) in serum, improved the pathologic change in liv-er, and reduced the infiltration of inflammatory cells induced by alcohol administration. Ghrelin also de-creased MDA content and increased the reduced SOD and GSH-Px level in liver homogenate. Furthermore, ghrelin decreased inflammatory cytokines mRNA ex-pression including TNF-α, IL-1β, IFN-γ, IL-6 and MCP-1 in the liver. Conclusion Ghrelin has protec-tive effects against alcoholic liver injury in mice via in-hibiting inflammation and suppressing oxidative stress.

BACKGROUND:Studies have shown that tibial plateau posterolateral fractures can be treated by posterolateral knee approach, however, there is no clear anatomical research to deeply evaluate and analyze this approach. OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of posterolateral knee inverted“L”shaped pathway in invloving tibial plateau posterolateral fractures. METHODS:Eight fresh frozen adult corpses, 16 knees side, were al dissected using posterolateral inverted“L”shaped pathway. During the dissection, the exposure range was observed and important parameters of anatomical structure were measured. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The pathway may be ful y exposed to the posterolateral aspect of tibial plateau and posterior cruciate ligament tibial insertions. The operations completed by out team did not create any obvious interference to superior tibiofibular joint, fibular head and posterolateral corner structure. The exposed mean length of common peroneal nerve in incision was 56.48 mm, with a mean angle of 14.7° tilt towards the axis of the fibula. The mean distance between the neck of the fibular and fibular head tip was 31.26 mm, an average of 42.18 mm to the joint line. The mean distance between the opening of the interosseous membrane and the articular surface was 48.78 mm. The divergence of the fibular artery from the posterior tibial artery was an average of 76.46 mm from articular surface. These results confirm that posterolateral inverted“L”shaped pathway met the requirements of anatomical reduction and buttress fixation for posterolateral tibial plateau fracture. Exposure of the common peroneal nerve can be minimized or even avoided by modifying the skin incision. Because the popliteal artery branches anterior tibial artery passed through interosseous membrane hole and peroneal artery and then separated from the posterior tibial artery, pathways dissection to distal deep area should be carried out careful y. Placement of a posterior buttressing plate carries a high vascular risk if the plate is implanted beneath these vessels.

Myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury ( MI/RI) is a pathophysiological phenomenon commonly seen during thromboly-sis, percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty ( PTCA ) , and coronary artery bypass grafting ( CABG ) . It is defined as restoration of blood flow to a previously ischemic region followed by complex pathological events leading to tissue injury greater than the original ischemic insult. Many experimental interven-tions have been reported to protect the ischemic myocardium in experimental animals; however, with the exception of early reperfusion, none has been translated into clinical practice. The root of Panax notoginseng ( Burk. ) F. H. Chen ( PN) is one of the iconic herbs in traditional Chinese medicine. Traditional pharmacopeia recommended it among the most efficacious herbs for‘promoting blood circulation ’ and hemostasis. Inspired by this, in the last decade, a large number of modern investigators made substantial efforts to search the PN activities against a vari-ety of MIRI. The systematic review was performed according to the protecting drug of the MIRI development guidelines.

The damage of tissue increases dramatically after reperfusion of blood supply to ischemic tissues.Immune response is one of the key reasons of ischemia-reperfusion injury.Th1 /Th2 generally stays balanced in normal states.Under the envi-ronment of ischemia reperfusion,Th1 /Th2 shifting let Th1 domi-nant to mediate cellular immunity.Excessive immune reaction may cause cell apoptosis and tissue damage.Recent studies showed that induction of transferring Th1 dominant to Th2 domi-nant was feasible for the treatment of ischemia-reperfusion inju-ry.With the progress of modern drug development paradigm“multi-composition,multi-target”,Chinese medicine has advan-tages in treating complex diseases. This paper summarizes the research of the relationship between Th1 /Th2 imbalance and is-chemia-reperfusion injury, together with the prospects of tradi-tional Chinese medicine with multi-target effect in ischemia-reperfusion injury.

One patient confirmed as pituitary carcinoma by histopathology was retrospectively analyzed according to the great changes of tumor invasive growth in imaging examine and clinical characters. Clinically, pituitary carcinoma quickly grows, and the growth character of tumor is helpful in the diagnosis. Moreover, the treatment for pituitary carcinoma is different from pituitary adenoma. The rapid progress of pituitary adenoma indicates the possibility of primary carcinoma.More experience should be accumulated for the diagnosis and treatment of the disease.

Chinese Herbal Medicines 2015;7(2):173-178
Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Xiyanping Injection in the treatment of viral pneumonia in children. Methods: We searched several databases, including PubMed, CNKI, VIP and Wanfang Data (January- June, 2014). The references of all selected studies were also retrieved to collect the relevantly randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on Xiyanping Injection for viral pneumonia in children. Two authors screened the literatures in accordance with the inclusive criteria, extracted the data and assessed the methodological quality of the included studies. We used RevMan 5.2 software for meta-analysis. Results: Meta-analysis on the 10 included RCTs showed that the effective rates of defervescing and vanishing of the rashes and cough in the Xiyanping Injection group were better than those in the Ribavirin Injection group. There was no significant difference between the two groups in the incidence of adverse drug reaction. Conclusion: The existing research indicated that Xiyanping Injection is a secure and efficient scheme for viral pneumonia in children. Because of the poor quality of present researches, these results should be verified by strictly-designed and large-scale sample RCTs.

Mice was stimulated by peptidoglycan from Lactobacillus sp and detect cytokines production。It was found that PG induced the production of inflammatory cytokines (IL-1,TNF-? in peritoneal macrophages,IFN-? in spleen cell)and did not induce the IL-2 production in spleen cell. Affymetrix MOE430A genechip was used to analyze changed gene expression of immune cells. It was found that expression of cytokines and related genes were changed under peptidoglycan administration. This might induced by activation of TLR-NF-?B signal pathway.
