OBJECTIVE: To study the effect of various polarity fractions extracted from Sancaofang (SCF) and its combination on proliferation of human lung adenocarciaoma SPC-A-1 cells for bolting the most effective position of anti-tumor and suitable compatibility regimes.METHODS: Ethanol extraction and water extraction were adopted to prepare 95%,60% and 30% ethanol extract portion, water extract portion of SCF and compound decoction. The MTT assay was used to determine the effect of various polarity fractions of SCF,decoction and its combination on SPC-A-1 cells proliferation.RESULTS: IC50 of 60% ethanol extract was the smallest for SPC-A-1 cells.60% ethanol extract combined with 95% ethanol extract acts as a stimulus to anti-tumor activity significantly.CONCLUSION: The best suitable compatibility regimes were 95% ethanol extract combined with 60% ethanol extract. The liposolubility extract of SCF can be applied for anti-tumor.

Objective To compare the effects of median nerve electrical stimulation on coma patients after traumatic brain injury with different settings. Methods From 2013 to 2015, 161 patients with traumatic brain injury were randomly divided into control group (n=40), experimental group 1 (n=41), experimental group 2 (n=39) and experimental group 3 (n=41). The control group received routine conscious-ness-promoted methods, and the experimental groups received median nerve electrical stimulation with 200μs and 30 Hz, 100 Hz and 50 Hz in sequence, 60 minutes a day for 90 days. They were assessed with Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) and Coma Recovery Scale-Revised (CRS-R) before, 30 days and 90 days after treatment. Results There was significant difference in the scores of CCS and CRS-R, times of treatment, number of sobered patients and coma time among groups (P<0.01), that the experimental groups were better than the control group (P<0.05), and no significant difference was found between the experimental groups 1 and 2 (P>0.05). The experimental group 3 was better than the experimental groups 1 and 2 (P<0.05). Conclusion Median nerve electrical stimulation with 200μs, 50 Hz could promote co-ma patients to wake up optimally.

Objective To investigate imaging findings of lung injury after seawater drowning. Methods The imaging data in 12 cases with seawater drowning treated in our hospital in the past 8 years were analyzed retrospectively. Results After 2 to 12 hours of leaving the water, the initial chest X-ray examinations or CT scans were taken. The initial X-ray films displayed the lung markings increase, the small patch shadows or wide distribution patch shadows.CT showd large ground-glass density, diffuse patchy or flocculus shadows and different degress of emphysema in bilateral lung. Most of the foci were absorbed obviously in 1 to 3 days.In 1 case, the focus formed pulmonary abscess later. Conclusion X-ray and CT examinations can clearly show the severity and changes of lung damage in seawater submersion victims, and that can provide important informations for clinical diagnosis and treatment.

Objective To explore the clinical characteristics of IgG4-related disease (IgG4-RD) in Chinese by detailed clinicopathological and laboratory assessments. Methods The baseline features of 36 patients with biopsy-proven disease were reviewed. The diagnosis was confirmed by pathology review according to consensus diagnostic criteria and clinicopathologic correlation.Disease activity and damage were assessed by the IgG4-RD responder index (RI).Results Thirty (83.3%) of the patients were male, while six were female, and the average age of onset was 65.1 years. All of the 36 patients had active disease,in which submandibular gland, lymph nodes, retroperitoneal tissue were the most common affected organs in this group of patients.Among 36 patients,77.7% had elevated serum IgG4 concentrations and 44.4% had hypocomplementemia.Patients with elevated serum IgG4 had a higher RI,a greater number of organs involved (P < 0.01 for all comparisons). The correlation between serum IgG4 level and RI (r=0.737,P < 0.01) was stronger than IgG,ESR,CRP and serum complement levels. The incidence of hypocomplementemia in IgG4-RD patients with renal involvement was higher than that in IgG4-RD patients with other organs involvement (P < 0.01).Twenty-eight patients received glucocorticoids therapy, and had lower RI and serum IgG4 concentration after therapy (P < 0.05).Conclusions Both IgG4-RD RI and IgG4 concentration may be regarded as assessment markers of disease activity and therapeutic effect of IgG4-RD.The diagnosis of IgG4-RD should be supported by histopathology and clinical features.

· AIM: To explore the dynamic expression and correlation among telomerase catalytic subunit (TERT), proliferating cell nuclear antigen ( PCNA) and antiapoptosis protein Bd-2 which relate to cell proliferation in epiretinal membrane of rat traumatic proliferative vitreoretinopathy(PVR).· METHODS: S-P technique was applied for immunohistochemical staining of epiretinal membrane of traumatic PVR with TERT, PCNA and Bcl-2 antibody. HE staining was also carried out. The staining results were analyzed with image analysis system.· RESULTS: The positive rate and average A of PCNA protein were upregulated at first and then down-regulated, with the peak value in 14d Group, which was significantly different from those in 7d Group and 28d Group. The positive rate and average A of TERT and Bcl-2 were also upregulated at first and then down-regulated, with the peak value in 14d Group and 21d Group, which were significantly different from those in 7d Group. There was significant correlation among PCNA, Bcl-2 and TERT protein expression (P≤0.01).· CONCLUSTON: TERT and Bcl-2 take part in the regulation of proliferative cells in epiretinal membrane of traumatic proliferative PVR, with high correlation with the dynamic changes of cell proliferation.

Objective To obtain scientific data for control of iodine deficiency disorders(IDD) by reviewing the surveillance information of school children intelligence quotient(IQ) after the implementation of universal salt iodization. Methods One thousand five hundred and eighty children were selected from 11 primary school in Dalian city of Liaoning province during 2006 to 2009. IQ was measured by Combined Raven Test-C2(CRT-C2) in China. Groups of IQ were classified as outstanding(≥ 130), excellent (120- 129), above average (110- 119), average (90 - 109), below average(80 - 89), margin(70 - 79), low(≤69). Urinary samples of children were collected randomly. Urinary iodine were determined by As-Ce catalytic spectrophotometry. The growth characteristics of IQ were analyzed according to surveillance year and born year. Results The average IQ of children aged 8-10 were 110.4 ± 14.0,112.5 ± 12.4,117.2 ± 11.4,116.2 ± 12.6, respectively, increased year by year from 2006 to 2009. Its average annual increase from 2007 to 2009 were 2.1,3.4,1,9 compared with the IQ in 2006 respectively. The medians of urinary iodine were 224.7,266.7,222.1 μg/L from the year 2007 to 2009, respectively, which were all between 200 - 300 μg/L and can be classified as more than adequate level. The average IQ of children born during the year of 1994 to 2000 were 106.7 ± 13.0,108.1 ± 13.9,108.5 ± 13.4,111.3 ± 14.3,113.6 ± 12.5,115.3 ± 12.3,119.8 ± 11.2, respectively. Its average annual increase from 1995 - 2000 were 1.4,0.9,1.5,1.7,1.7,2.2 compared with the IQ born in 1994 respectively. The ratio of IQ in margin group and low group were all below 2% ; the ratio was increasing in excellent group and outstanding group and decreasing in average group and below average group significantly year after year(x2 = 52.471,34.329,66.483,11.148, all P<0.01). Conclusions Universal salt iodization improves IQ scores. IQ index should be brought into the surveillance project and put in use in IDD control.
