Chinese Traditional and Herbal Drugs 2019;50(12):2983-2989
Objective: Genetic reationships betwen Swertia mileensis and its relatives have been researched using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy combined with chemometrics methods in order to provide a theoretical basis for the development and utilization of medicinal plant resources of genus Swertia. Methods: Infrared spectrum information of Swertia mileensis, Swertia cincta, Halenia elliptica, Swertiaion nervosa, Swertia punicea, and Swertia binchuanennsis was collected and used in this study. Original infrared spectra data were pretreated by these methods including automatic baseline correction, automatic smoothing, ordinate normalization, multiplicative scatter correction and second derivative, and analyzed by principal component analysis (PCA), partial least squares discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) and hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA). Results: Absorption area of relationship between Swertia mileensis and its relatives ranged from 900-400 cm-1, 1 310-900 cm-1, 1 500-1 310 cm-1, 1 800-1 500 cm-1, 2 800-3 000 cm-1, and 3 000-3 500 cm-1. Absorption peaks of the second derivative of fingerprint region in 400 to 1 000 cm-1 were distinct, and the absorption peaks as well as peak numbers, intensities and patterns among species were quite different. Analysis of preprocessed IR data showed that PCA analysis of six Swertia species was superior to PLS-DA analysis. The results of HCA analysis showed that Swertia mileensis was closely related to Swertia cincta and Swertia nervosa. Conclusion: FTIR spectroscopy combined with chemometrics method could discriminate different species of genus Swertia and display the closely genetic relationship of Swertia mileensis and its relatives, furthermore, this research would provide a fast and effective method for studying genetic relationship of genus Swertia.

Chlorogenic acid displays several important roles in the therapeutic properties of many herbs, such as antioxidant activity, antibacterial, antiviral, scavenging free radicals and exciting central nervous system. Only about one-third of chlorogenic acid was absorbed in its prototype, therefore, its gut metabolites play a more important role in the therapeutic properties of chlorogenic acid. It is necessary to consider not only the bioactivities of chlorogenic acid but also its gut metabolites. This review focuses on the potential activities and mechanisms of chlorogenic acid and its gut metabolites on central nervous system diseases.

Methods From 2018 to 2021, the content of 10 paralytic shellfish poisons including saxitoxin (STX), neosaxitoxin (neoSTX), gonyautoxins 1 (GTX1), gonyautoxins 2 (GTX2), gonyautoxins 3 (GTX3), gonyautoxins 4 (GTX4), gonyautoxins 5 (GTX5), decarbamoylsaxitoxin (dcSTX), decarbamoylgonyau toxins 2 (dcGTX2) and decarbamoylgonyau toxins 3 (dcGTX3) in 7 kinds of shellfish commonly sold in 13 cities and counties in Hainan province was analyzed. Results The detection rate of PSP in 360 shellfish samples was 10.3%. Among them, the highest detection rate of STX was 5.83%, followed by GTX2 detection rate of 4.17%; the detection rate of neoSTX and GTX3 were both 1.67%; the detection rate of GTX1 was 1.39%. None of the five PSP, GTX4, GTX5, dcSTX, dcGTX2 and dcGTX3, were detected. Four types of PSP were detected in fanscallops, two were detected in oysters, mussels and Scapharca subcrenata, only one was detected in scallops, and no toxin contamination was detected in clams and razor clams. A single sample of fanscallops detected a maximum of 4 PSP, and a single sample of oysters, scallops, mussels and Scapharca subcrenata detected a maximum of 1 PSP. The equivalence of PSP in all samples was ND-155.6 μg/kg.The annual detection rate of PSP from high to low was: 20.0% in 2020, 15.6% in 2019, 5.3% in 2018, and 2.0% in 2021, and none of the samples tested exceeded the standard. Continuously detectable STX in 2018-2020, all PSP that could be detected in 2018 were STX. In 2019, in addition to STX detected in scallops and Scapharca subcrenata, neoSTX was also detected in oysters, mussels and Scapharca subcrenata. In 2020, PSP was only detected from scallops, and GTX2 could be detected in all positive specimens, while 5 STX, 5 GTX1 and 6 GTX3 were detected. Only GTX2 detected from scallops in 2021. STX was detected in shellfish sold in 12 cities and counties, GTX2 can be detected in 10 cities and counties, neoSTX can be detected in 5 cities and counties, GTX1 and GTX2 were detected in 4 cities and counties respectively. Shellfish sold in Wenchang and Lingshui markets can detect 5 types of PSP. Conclusion Some types of shellfish on the market in Hainan are contaminated with some kind of PSP pollution risks, and it is necessary to strengthen the supervision of PSP in marketed shellfish.

AlM: To measure the retinal electrical activities in patients with diabetic retinopathy ( DR ) by applying multifocal electroretinogram ( mf-ERG) and evaluate the degree of visual damage at different stages of DR
METHODS:Thirty cases ( 30 eyes ) aged 50 ~70 years old, excluding other diseases, were as normal group, and 99 cases ( 99 eyes ) diagnosed with type 2 diabetes were as experiment group. The cases received mf-ERG examination in the standard state, respectively. The results were statistically analyzed
RESULTS: For DR patients with early and background stage, the reaction density of mf - ERG P1 wave decreased as the disease worsened, significantly reduced in non - proliferating stage and decreased more significantly in the background of the stage Ⅲ. This showed that in the macula, electrical activity had weakened before the retina without visual or morphological changes, and with the development of the disease, the electrical activity decreased more obviously.
CONCLUSlON:mf-ERG can evaluate the severity of DR, especially suit in the early and background period of DR.

Background: Despite substantial progress toward measles control are making in China, measles outbreaks in immunocompromised population still pose a challenge to interrupt endemic transmission. This study aimed to investigate the features of measles in pediatric hematology and oncology patients and explore the reasons behind the outbreak. Methods: We collected demographic, epidemiological, and clinical data of immunocompromised measles children. All suspected measles cases were laboratory?confirmed based on the presence of measles IgM and/or identification of measles RNA. The clinical data were statistically analyzed by t?test for continuous variables and Fisher''s exact test for categorical variables. Results: From March 9 to July 25 in 2015, a total of 23 children with malignancies and post hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (post?HSCT) were notified to develop measles in Shanghai. Of these 23 patients with the median age of 5.5 years (range: 11 months–14 years), 20 (87.0%) had received 1–3 doses of measles vaccine previously; all patients had fever with the median fever duration of 8 days;21 (91.3%) had cough; 18 (78.3%) had rash; 13 (56.5%) had Koplik''s spot; 13 (56.5%) had complications including pneumonia and acute liver failure; and five (21.7%) vaccinated patients died from severe pneumonia or acute liver failure. Except the first patient, all patients had hospital visits within 7–21 days before measles onset and 20 patients were likely to be exposed to each other. Conclusions: The outcome of measles outbreak in previously vaccinated oncology and post?HSCT pediatric patients during chemotherapy and immunosuppressant medication was severe. Complete loss of protective immunity induced by measles vaccine during chemotherapy was the potential reason. Improved infection control practice was critical for the prevention of measles in malignancy patients and transplant recipients.

Objective To explore the nutritional status of hemodialysis patients with different ages, and analyze the reasons of differences of nutritional status. Methods 109 hemodialysis patients were divided into the young-age group (n=26), the middle-age group (n=49) and the old-age group (n=34). The body indices, blood biochemical parameters, dietary assessment, handgrip strength and subjective global assessment were measured. The nutritional indices and relationship were compared among patients in the three groups. Results Leg circumstance, prealbumin, creatinine, handgrip strength and SGA scores were different among the three groups (P<0.05 or P<0.01). And those five factors were all statistically associated with age (P<0.05). Conclusions With the increase of age, the hemodialysis patients' nutritional status has a descending trend. It's necessary for nursing staff to timely monitor and intervene the nutrition of elderly patients so as to prevent the incidence of malnutrition.
