1.Effect of Ethyl Acetate Extract of the Seeds of Semem Hoveniae against Alcoholism

OBJECTIVE:To study on the effect of ethyl acetate extract of the seeds of Semem Hoveniae.against alcoholism.METHODES:The mice were divided into four groups:model group(i.g.normal saline),positive group(i.g.Haiwangjinzun 20 g?kg-1),low-dose group of ethyl acetate extract(i.g.ethyl acetate extract 10 g?kg-1),and high-dose group of ethyl acetate extract(i.g.ethyl acetate extract 20 g?kg-1).The effects of different extracts on serum SGPT activity,MDA content and ADH activity,GSH content and SOD activity in liver tissue of mice with acute alcoholism were determined.RESULTS:Serum SGPT activity and MDA content were down-regulated while ADH activity,GSH content and SOD activity in liver tissue of acute alcoholism mice were up-regulated by the ethyl acetate extract of the seeds of Hovenia Dulcis Thunb.CONCLUSION:The ethyl acetate extract of the seeds of Semem Hoveniae exhibited remarkable anti-alcoholism efficacy,and which is worthy of further study.
2.Clinical Observation on Treatment of Acne Due to the Lung by Wind and Heat with Pipaqingfei and Wuweixiaodu Drinks

Objective] To investigate Wuweixiaodu drinks combined Pipaqingfei drinks curative effect for the treatment of acne due to the lung by wind and heat.[Methods] 120 patients from Hospital of Zhejiang Province Dermatologists,using a random number table divided into treatment group of 60 patients and a control group of 60 patients.The treatment group received Wuweixiaodu drinks together with Pipaqingfei drinks,one day one decoction; control group was given Danshentong capsules orally,4 pills,4 times a day.Each set to four weeks for a course of treatment.[Results] After a course of treatment, the rate of basic recovery from treatment group was 86.67%,and the control group was 58.33%,having a significant difference(P<0.05).Lesions scores after treatment between the two groups,the scores of gradeⅠ,Ⅱacne treatment group had statistically significant difference(P<0.05) after treatment,the scores of grade Ⅲ, Ⅳ acne treatment group had a very significant difference(P<0.01) after treatment.[Conclusion] Wuweixiaodu drinks with Feijingfengre drinks is effective to acne due to the lung by wind and heat,therapeutic effect for severe acne is better and has less adverse reactions.
3.Determination of Nilestriol in Nilestriol Vaginal Gel by HPLC

OBJECTIVE:To develop an HPLC Method for the determination of the content of nilestriol in nilestriol vaginal gel.METHODS:The chromatographic separation was carried out on column Hypersil ODS,the mobile phase consisted of methanol-water (80∶20),the detection wavelength was 221 nm,the flow rate was 1.0 mL?min-1 and the injection volume was 20 ?L.RESULTS:The calibration curve was linear in the range of 20.06~200.6 ?g?mL-1 (r=0.999 9),the lowest detection limit was 3.41 ?g?mL-1 and the lowest quantitative limit was 5.92 ?g?mL-1.The average recovery rate was 100.8% (RSD=1.2%).CONCLUSION:The method is simple,accurate and applicable for the determination of the content of nilestroil in nilestroil vaginal gel.

Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) is a type of curable tumor. The treatment strategy of HL is based on staging and risk of recurrence. With the continuous optimization of combined treatment mode, the prognosis of HL has been greatly improved. The predictive value of the prognostic models widely used in HL is lower than before. Therefore, exploring new prognostic factors and enriching existing prognostic models to provide patients with precise and individualized treatment is an important research direction for HL. This article reviews the progress of prognostic factors for HL in recent years.

6. Correlation between endothelia cells activation and imbalance of cytokines in pulmonary hypertension of congenital heart disease

Objective: To explore the correlation between endothelia cells activation and cytokines (ET-1, NO) levels in patients with pulmonary hypertension (PH), and to discuss their roles in the development of PH. Methods: Twenty patients with simple ventricular septal defect (VSD) were chosen as controls, and 30 patients with PH were studied. Plasma levels of ET-1 and NO were measured by radioimmunoassay or colorimetric method. Before cardiopulmonary bypass was established, the specimens from right lung were fixed with formaldehyde solution, embedded with paraffin and stained by SP immunohistochemistry. Intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) expression was measured through the determination of the light density with computer imaging technology. Results: Compared with that of the patients with simple VSD, the light density of ICAM-1 and plasma level of ET-1 increased in patients with PH; but plasma level of NO decreased (P<0.05). Positive correlation was observed between ICAM-1 and ET-1/NO (P<0.05). Conclusion: Endothelia cells activation and imbalance of ET-1/NO might play an important role in the development of PH.

10.The effects of a high-intensity pulsed electromagnetic field on the expression of β-catenin in the neural stem cells of neonatal rats

Objective To study the mechanism by which a high-intensity pulsed electromagnetic field (HIPEMF) (0.1 Hz,4 T,8 pulses) facilitates the proliferation of neural stem cells by detecting the expression of β-catenin genes and protein.Methods Neural stem cells (NSCs) were isolated from the sub-ventricular zone (SVZ) of neonatal rats and cultured in supplemented,serum-free medium for two weeks.The NSCs were then divided into an experimental group exposed to a HIPEMF for 8 pulses and a control group given sham stimulation.The gene and prorein expression of β-catenin in the NSCs were assayed by RT-PCR and Western blotting on the 1st,3rd,5th and 7th day after the stimulation.Results The NSCs' cloned spheres were round and translucent,and showed red fluorescence after staining with anti-nestin (cy3).The RT-PCR results showed β-catenin genes were highly expressed in the exposed group (significantly more than in the controls).The Western blotting showed that expression of β-catenin protein was also higher in the experimental group,especially at the 7th day after stimulation,a difference which was also statistically significant Conclusion HIPEMF at 0.1 Hz,4 T,in 8 pulse trains can promote NSC proliferation,perhaps through the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathways.
