1.Study on decomposed recipes of traditional Chinese medicine
Journal of Integrative Medicine 2003;1(3):173-6
OBJECTIVE: To introduce and analyze the present status of research on decomposed recipes of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). METHODS: The relevant literature on the study of the decomposed recipes of TCM in the past five years was collected and analyzed. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Studies on the decomposed recipes of TCM have been made from the whole body level to the organ, cell and molecular research level. The pharmacological research in vitro is the main way and quantitative changes of the chemical ingredients have been measured before and after composition. It is very important to combine the modern science and technology in exploring the composing mechanisms of TCM remedies.

Objective To establish an HPLC method for the determination of plasma metformin hydrochloride and an HPLC/ESI-MS method for the determination of plasma glibenclamide in human. Methods The metformin plasma samples were added with acetonitrile to denature proteins and the supernatant was injected into the system directly by using EC 250/4.6 NUCLEOSIL 100-5 analytical column (4.6 mm?250 mm, 5 ?m) with a mobile phase of 0.03 mol/L (NH 4) H 2PO 4∶acetonitrile (75∶25, pH 7.0) at the flow rate of 1.0 ml/min and the detection wavelength of 240 nm. Using glipizide as a internal standard, the glibenclamide plasma samples were extracted with ethyl acetate and determined by LC-MS using a chromatographic column ORBAX SB300C 18 (2.1 mm?150 mm, 5 ?m) with a mobile phase of acetonitrile-0.1% ammonium acetate (55∶45, V/V) at the flow of 0.2 ml/min. Results The glibenclamide concentration had a good linear correlation in the range of 2-200 ng/ml (r=0.999 8) while the metformin concentration in the range of 6.25-4 000 ng/ml (r= 0.999 9 ). Both the inter-day and intra-day RSD of metformin and glibenclamide were lower than 5%. Conclusion The assays have been proved to be sensitive, accurate and convenient and can be used in the study of human pharmacokinetics of glibenclamide and metformin hydrochloride.

Chinese Journal of Infection and Chemotherapy 2007;0(01):-
Objective To study normal flora components of conjunctiva, explore the relationship between normal flora and ocu- lar bacterial infections. Methods The data of 1 198 bacterial cultures of conjunctiva in non-infectious cataract patients were re- viewed and compared with the results of 985 specimens of conjunctivitis, keratitis and endophthalmitis from January 2000 to December 2004.Results Positive culture of conjunctiva in non-infectious cataract patients was 628 in 1 198 specimens (52.4%).These bacteria including gram-positive cocci and gram-neganve bacilli constituted the normal flora of conjunctiva. Staphylococcus epidermidis was the predominant bacteria (51.1%, 341/667) and its prevalence increased during this 5-year period.S.epidermidis and S.aureus were also the most frequently isolated pathogens in specimens of conjunctivitis, keratitis and endophthalmitis. The correlation was statistically significant between the positive rate in normal eye and conjunctivitis or keratitis in terms of these two species, but not statistically significant between normal eye and endophthalmitis. The resistance rate of normal flora of conjunctiva to ampicillin, amikacin, tobramycin, ciprofloxacin, and ofloxacin increased year by year. The resistance rate to gentamicin and the combination of two drugs decreased. The changing resistant pattern was similar in pa- tients with eye infection. Conclusions There is a close relationship between the normal flora S.aureus and S.epidermidis of conjunctiva and the bacterial infection of ocular surface, but no significant correlation between normal flora and the pathogen of endophthalmitis.

Objective To evaluate the preventative effects of rehabilitation training(RT)on deep venous thrombosis(DVT)after arthroplasty. Methods Fifty-six patients with articulatio coxae or knee arthroplasty were randomly divided into a control group and an experiment group(E group).RT,including active movement of the foot and ankle, isometric contraction of the quadriceps fexoris and deep breathing training, was administered to the E group after arthroplasty.Negative cheirapsis was applied in the control group.Peak and average blood flow velocities (PABFVs)in the femoral vein,as well as DVT,were detected and measured using color ultrasound Doppler imaging before and 7 d after arthroplasty. Results PABFVs in the E group were higher than those in the control group (P

Objective Using Hitachi 7170 external quality assessment return target value to evaluate the accuracy of 10 items after Regression calibration of the Vistros 350 dry-type Biochemical Analyzer. Methods The same quality control samples were separately tested on two instruments, and results were reported to the clinical National Center for Clinical Laborato-ries.Substituted the external quality assessment return target value result from the National Center for Clinical Laboratories by using Vitros350 into regression calibration equation, then the getting data were compared with the external quality assess-ment return target value obtained from Hitachi 7170,and the deviation analysis was processed. The total error range from the America Clinical Laboratory Amended Bill was used as the standard. For the results within the reference range, error less than 1/2CLIA’88 total error, taken as the comparable judging standard,as it satisfied the requirement. For the results out off the reference range, error less than CLIA’88 total error, those still satisfied the requirement. For those items not meet the requirements,it must to do the regression calibration for Vitros350,using Hitachi 7170 as the standard instrument. Results The deviations of 7 items were all less than 1/2CLIA’88 allowed total error, with LDH was 0.16~-9.89,CK 2.92~6.25, ALT -4.64~-8.07,TBIL 0.08~2.67,TP -0.37~4.41,ALB 2.74~4.77 and URIC 1.04~3.0 respectively, and did not need re-calibration.For GLU and CREA,only one out of the reference range sample, the error range was >1/2CLIA’ 88,but

Objective To explore the association between the infection rate of Helicobacter pylori (Hp) and intake frequency of capsicum in dietary pattern. Methods A total of 914 health check-up participants were recruited from Tianjin Medical University General Hospital (male: 510,female:404). All participants were asked about the intake frequency of capsicum. Diagnostic criteria of the Hp infection included positive C13 breath test. Results The intake frequency of capsicum was ≥2 times/week, 1 time/week and <1 time/week. The infection rate of Hp was 56.08%, 49.04% and 48.29%. After adjusting for covariates, compared with the≥2 times/week, the odds ratios(95%confidence interval)of intake frequency of capsicum 1 time/week and <1 time/week: the frequency of capsicum intake ≥2 times/week was 1.00 (reference), the frequency of capsicum intake 1 time/week was 0.57(0.33-0.97) and the frequency of capsicum intake<1 time/week was 0.69(0.42-1.14) in men;the frequency of capsicum intake≥2 times/week was 1.00 (reference), the frequency of capsicum intake 1 time/week was 1.01(0.54-1.88), and the frequency of capsicum intake<1 time/week was 0.71(0.41-1.23) in women. Conclusions This study found that food intake frequency of capsicum≥2 times/week was associated with the infection rate of Hp in men. But similar relationship was not observed in women.
