Objective To investigate the efficacy of statin on carotid plaque stability in elderly patients assessed by K trans (the combination of E and F) of dynamic contrast material enhanced (DCE) magnetic resonance (DCE MR) imaging. Methods 37 elderly patients with carotid artery of low echo or mixed echo plaque in carotid artery patches were screened by B type ultrasound.According to the standard of 2011 ESC/EAS guidelines, all patients were divided into two groups:normal level of LDL-C group achieving LDL-C target and high level of LDL C group not achieving target of LDLC.Plaque area and size of lipid-rich necrotic core were measured by 3.0T enhancement magnetic resonance, and K trans was measured by DCE-MR dynamic contrast material enhanced (DCE) magnetic resonance (MR) imaging.and serum hs-C-reactive protein level was detected within 1 week. Results Plaque area, size of lipid-rich necrotic core, ratio of lipoid core over plaque area,K trans and serum level of hs-CRP were less in normal LDL-C level group than in high LDL-C level group [(2.06±0.45) mm2 vs.(3.63±0.62) mm2,(0.52±0.05) mm2 vs.(1.49±0.01) mm2,2 cases (11.8%) vs.14 cases (70.0%),(0.041±0.009) min1 vs.(0.079±0.011) min-1,(1.60±0.27) mmol/L vs.(2.80 ± 0.34),all P<0.05].Linear regression analysis revealed that there was no significant correlations of K trans with the size of lipid necrotic core (r=0.19,P>0.05) and hs-CRP (r=0.23,P>0.05).Conclusions Dynamic contrast material enhanced (DCE) magnetic resonance (MR) imaging is a quantitative method assaying atheromatous plaque components; K trans may be a new indicator to measure the stability of plaques; Statin can stabilize plaques through inhibiting the proliferation of Vasa vasorum in plaque angiogenesis,anti-inflammatory and reducing the size of lipidrich necrotic core.

Objective To compare the clinical and ultrasound features of Klebsiella pneumoniae liver abscess(KPLA) in dia‐betes mellitus(DM ) patients with different levels of HbA1c .Methods Totally 146 patients with diabetes mellitus of Klebsiella pneumoniae liver abscesses(KPLA‐DM )were divided into three groups on the basis of their levels of HbA1c:complete glycemic controlled (HbA1c≤7% );good glycemic controlled (7% < HbA1c≤9% );bad glycemic controlled (HbA1c>9% ) .The patients′characteristics ,clinical features ,ultrasound features and complications among the three groups were compared .Results Compared with patients in complete glycemic controlled group and good glycemic controlled group ,patients in bad glycemic controlled group had lower onset age and longer length of hospital stay(P<0 .05) ,are more susceptible to underlying diseases such as hyperlipoi‐demia and chronic renal failure(P<0 .05) ,had more life‐threatening clinical crisis ,and had higher infection rate(P<0 .05) .KPLA‐DM could be characterized by patchy ,mass like enhancement echoultrasound image .Patients in bad glycemic controlled group al‐so had higher risk of biliary pneumatosis ,hepatic venous thrombosis and gas‐forming pyogenic liver abscess than other two groups (P<0 .05) .Conclusion The ultrasound image of KPLA has characteristics .The occurrence of hepatic venous thrombosis and gas‐forming observed by ultrasound is associated with bad glucose control in KPLA‐DM patients ,which suggests that there may be oth‐er complications such as metastatic infection .

Objective To investigate the molecular epidemiological characteristics and homology of Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus)isolated from patients in intensive care units (ICUs)of a hospital,so as to provide laboratory basis for the effective control of healthcare-associated infection(HAI). Methods 62 S. aureus strains isolated from various specimens from ICU patients with infection in March-August 2013 were collected,7 housekeeping genes were amplified with polymerase chain reaction (PCR),the amplified products were sequenced,ST typing of strains was performed by multilocus sequence typing (MLST ), phylogenetic analysis of ST typing was conducted. Results 62S. aureus strains were amplified specific product of 7 housekeeping genes;there were 10 ST genotypes, in which 2 ST genotypes(STn1and STn2)were first discovered,1 ST genotype(ST675)was first discovered domes-tically. ST239 was the main ST type of S. aureus from ICU patients in this hospital, accounting for 74.20% ,which distributed in 6 ICUs,ST5 distributed in 3 ICUs. 62 strains formed 7 main branches in the phylogenetic tree,55 (88.71% )MRSA strains were detected. Conclusion S. aureus isolated from hospital ICUs has some homology, and the small number of types showed the trend of concentrated distribution.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the influence of seasons, blood types and semen parameters on the cryosurvival rate of frozen-thawed spermatozoa from sperm donors.
METHODSWe retrospectively analyzed the influence of seasons, blood types, abstinence period, semen volume, sperm morphology, and pre-freeze sperm motility and concentration on the cryosurvival rate of frozen-thawed sperm in 4 088 semen samples from Shaanxi Human Sperm Bank.
RESULTSThe cryosurvival rate of the post-thaw sperm was correlated negatively with the progressive motility of the pre-freeze sperm (r = -0.262, P < 0.01), but positively with pre-freeze sperm concentration (r = 0.247, P < 0.01), and it was significantly higher in the 6-day abstinence group ([70.2 +/- 5.4]%) than in the other abstinence groups (P < 0.01), so was it in the normal sperm morphology rate > 20% group ([71.4 +/- 5.1]%) than in the others (P < 0.01). The survival rate of the post-thaw sperm was not correlated with seasons, blood types, and semen volume (P > 0.05).
CONCLUSIONSperm motility, concentration and morphology and the abstinence period of sperm donors may be valuable predictors of the cryosurvival rate of post-thaw sperm, but no correlation was found between the survival rate and seasons, blood types and semen volume.
