AIM: To observe the dynamic changes of interleukin-4(IL-4),IL-10,IL-12 in rat serum and lung tissues during acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). METHODS: The ARDS model of rats was induced by intravenous injection of oleic acid. The levels of IL-4 ,IL-10,IL-12 in serum and the supernatant of lung tissues were measured by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). RESULTS: The Levels of serum and lung IL-10,IL-12 in ARDS rats were increased in 4 h ,8 h,16 h group compared with control group . The levels in IL-10 in serum in 16 h group and IL-10 in lung tissues of 8 h group were lower than that in 4 h group. The Levels of IL-4 in serum in 4 h, 8 h group were higher than that in control group , while IL-4 in 16 h group was lower than that in 8 h group. IL-4 of lung tissues in 4 h,8 h,16 h group were increased significantly,but in 16 h group were lower than that in 8 h group. The biggest changes of pulmonary coefficient and histopathology were observed at 4 h after injection of oleic acid. CONCLUSIONS: IL-4,IL-10 and IL-12 might play important roles in inflammatory reaction induced by oleic acid. The pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines produced successively during ARDS. The relationship between unbalanced cytokines and lung injury in ARDS needs to be further studied.

A total of 35 patients with hallus valgus (56 feet) received treatment at the Department of Orthopedics, the Sixth People's Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University between January 2004 and June 2005 and were recruited into this study. These patients underwent osteotomy of proximal first metatarsal and internal fixation with poly (L-lactic acid) (PLLA) absorbable pins. All patients were followed up for 4-22 months. Excellent outcomes were found in 27 patients (44 feet) and good results in 8 patients (12 feet). The mean healing time of surgical region was 6 weeks, nonunion or delayed union was not found. There were 3 cases suffering from complications post surgery. Two of them presented with peripheral wound red swelling, considering as a result of extraneous material-caused aseptic inflammatory reaction. This phenomenon would be regressed 2-4 weeks after hydropathic compress of ethanol gauzes and timely renewal of dressings. There was 1 case who suffered from protrution of absorbable pin 1 week after fixation and received reposition and plaster fixation. Bone displacement and nonunion were not found. This complication maybe results from excessively large bone pore due to shaking of electrodrill, which leads to loosening of absorbable pins.

Objective To study the image processing methods of electrical impedance tomography(EIT) in order to improve the display quality.Methods Evaluate the conductivity of the nodes using the conductivity of the adjacent triangle elements.The conductivity of any point in one triangle element was calculated according to the conductivity of 3 vertexes of the element by 2D linear interpolation method.Results The original blocky images of electrical impedance tomography by the triangle elements can be transformed into smoothing images.Conclusion The visual quality of the images is improved greatly.The image processing method is adaptive to all kinds of images of electrical impedance tomography based on triangle element.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the disinfection efficacy of dental high-speed hand-pieces contaminated by HBV with the method of pressure steam sterilizer.METHODS Taking 50 oral clinical patients randomly,and three group-samples which included saliva,hand-pieces contaminated by clinical operation and disinfected by pressure steam sterilizing were collected,then the samples were detected HBsAg and HBV DNA,respectively.RESULTS There were 95% of the saliva samples being HBsAg positive,the positive rate of the high-speed hand-pieces contaminated by clinical operation was lower than the saliva samples,and the positive rate of the hand-piece disinfected by pressure steam sterilizing was the lowest.HBV DNA was undetectable in the sample before or after disinfected hand-pieces used in patients′ saliva which HBsAg s/co value higher than 5.0.CONCLUSIONS Pressure steam sterilizing is effective to reduce the contaminated HBV on hand-pieces,but the biology test should be taken to demonstrate whether the complete sterilizing is achieved.

Objective To assess the efficacy and safety of argon plasma coagulation(APC) in treating patients with Barrett's esophagus.Methods Two reviewers independently searched the Cochrane Library(Issue 2,2008),MEDLINE(January 1948 to November 2008),and CNKI(January 1999 to November 2008),respectively.The quality of the included studies was assessed according to the guidance in the Cochrane Handbook of systematic reviews of interventions.Results Six randomized controlled trials involving 253 patients with Barrett's esophagus met the inclusion criteria and were included.One trial reported that the ablation rate of patients in the APC group was significantly higher than that in the endoscopic surveillance group.Followed up one year,the ablation rate in APC group was 63% compared with 15% in the control group(P

Objective To explore the exposure condition of DDR, screen -film radiography and the radiation dose to patients, and evaluate value of the DDR system. Methods Five thousand images of DDR and screen-film radiography were selected and then analyzed by three junior radiologists and two senior radiologists. Results 1.The quality of the images was classified into grades A ,B ,C: grade A in 92.8 % , grade B in 7.2 % , grade C in 0% ,waste in 0 % for DDR group and grade A in 40.8% , grade B in 41.7 %,grade C in 15.5 % ,waste in 2% for screen-film radiography group. 2. The required voltage of DDR system raises 3-24kV than screen-film radiography and radiation exposure was increased about 25 % . Conclusions The imaging quality of DDR was obviously higher than the screen -film radiography, but the disadvantage of DDR system was the higher exposure condition required, which increase X-ray radiation dose for patients.

OBJECTIVE To study the epidemiology of the drug-resistant genes in meticillin-resistant coagulase negative staphylococcus(MRCNS).METHODS mecA,aac(6′)/aph(2″) and aph(3′)-Ⅲgenes of aminoglycoside-modifying enzyme(AME) and ermA/B/C genes of erythromycin methyltransferase were detected by polymerase chain reaction(PCR) from 40 MRCNS strains.RESULTS Thirty-nine strains carried mecA gene,32 strains with aac(6′)/aph(2″) gene,15 strains with aph(3′)-Ⅲ gene,30 strains with ermA/B/C gene and 2 strains with tetM gene in 40 MRCNS strains.CONCLUSIONS About 65% MRCNS strains carry mecA,aac(6′)/aph(2″),/aph(3′)-Ⅲ and ermA/B/C genes at the same time.

Objective To study the effect of mixed purified autogenic and allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for the treatment of systemic lupus erythematosus. Methods Thirty-six MRL/lpr mice were randomly divided into the control group, the study group,the mixed group ( the ratio of autogenic to hematopoietic stem cells, mixed in different proportions were infused intravenously after 60Co irradiation. The study group were treated with daily intraperitoneal infusion of dexamethasone 1 mg·kg-1·d-1, while the control group were treated with intraperitoneal infusion of equivalent volume of saline daily. The changes of serum creatinine level, the urine protein excretion of the mice and blood WBC count were compared. Repeat measures ANOVA was used for data analysis. ELISA was used for anti-nuclear antibody detection Light microscopy, electronic micros-copy, immunofluorescence were applied to detect the pathological changes in renal tissue. Results Serum creatinine and urine protein excretion levels increased with time in the ontrol group, while those of the transplant group and the study group decreased. The reduction in mixed transplantation group and the study group was more evident compared with that of the allogeneic group. The difference was statistically significant (P＜0.05), but there was no significant difference between the mixed transplantation groups and the study group (P＞0.05). The histopathologic damage was most serious in the control group as pathological injury score of most mice were in grade 3 or 4. The majority of the histopathologic damage of the allogeneic group was in grade 2. Most f pathological damage of the study drug group and the mixed transplantation group were grade 1 or 2. Conclusion Mixed hematoopoietic stem cell transplantation for the treatment of murine systemic lupus erythematosus can effectively correct heavy proteinuria in murine systemic lupus erythematosus so improve the renal damage. It is a safe and effectively way to treat murine systemic lupus erythematosus.

AIM: To observe the changes of interleukin-6(IL-6), IL-8 and tumor necrosis factor-?(TNF-?) in serum and lung at different time, and the effects of anisodamine (654-2) treatment in rats with oleic acid-induced ARDS. METHODS: The ARDS model induced by intravenous injection of oleic acid in the rat was used and levels of IL-6, IL-8, TNF-? in serum and lung tissue supernatant were measured using enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). RESULTS: Levels of serum and lung tissue IL-6, IL-8, TNF-? in oleic acid type ARDS 4 h group were increased significantly. These cytokines in oleic acid type ARDS 8 h group were lower than that of ARDS 4 h group, but serum IL-6, TNF-? and lung tissue IL-6 were still higher than that of control group . In oleic acid type ARDS 16 h group, serum IL-6, TNF-? were lower than that of the ARDS 8 h group and serum TNF-? and lung tissue IL-6 were higher than that of control group. After 654-2 treatment, the levels of serum and lung tissue IL-6, TNF-? were decreased significantly. CONCLUSION: IL-6, IL-8 and TNF-? might play important roles in the oleic acid-induced ARDS in the rat. 654-2 might alleviate ARDS by inhibiting excess production of IL-6 and TNF-?.
