Pharyngeal foreign body is a common disease. The diagnosis and treatment are easy. However, in a few cases, pharyngeal foreign bodies migrated to other part of body, which often causing missed diagnosis or misdiagnose to delaythe treatment, and even lead to fatal complications. Here we present a case report of a 52-year-old female patient.who was found to have cervical mass 20 days before. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography showd a foreign body and foreign body granuloma on the left side of the neck. To look back on the history, the patient swallowed a fish bone in mistake one month ago.

Objective To summarize the perioperative clinical care experience of parenteral and enteral nutrition supports in post-hepatectomy patients.Methods The clinical data of 146 consecutive post-hepatectomy patients in Beijing Hospital were collected and analyzed.For these patients,nutritional risk screening (NRS) 2002 was performed after admission,enteral nutrition support was provided before operation,and enteral and parenteral nutrition supports were provided after operation.Nutritional parameters,clinical outcomes,and nursing methods were evaluated.Results Among these 146 patients,91 patients had≥3 NRS2000 scores,and the remaining 55 patients scored ＜ 3.A total of 118 patients were administrated with enteral and pareteral nutrition;the average enferal nutrition time was 9.6 days,and the average pareteral nutrition time was 5.4 days.The average onset time of passage of gas by anus afar operation was (70.7±17.1) hours.Three patients died,15 patients suffered from infections after operation,and 13 patients experienced other complications.The median hospital stay was 25.5 days.Conclusions Post-hepatectomy patients need take nutritional risk screening after admission and receive appropriate nutritional supports in the perioperative period.It is equally important to strengthen clinical nursing for nutrition support.

Objective To evaluate the postoperative pain induced by various therapeutic catheters after abdominal surgery.Methods A prospective study was conducted in patients selected based on the inclusion criteria.The general condition of the patients was recorded,and nutritional risk screening was performed.The indwelling of therapeutic catheters after abdominal surgery were recorded,including urinary catheter,nasogastric tube,peritoneal drainage tube,common bile duct drainage tube,wound drainage tube,central venous catheter and peripherally inserted central catheter.The pain caused by each type of catheters was evaluated using visual analog scale at 24,48 and 72 hours after tube/catheter insertion.Results A total of 157 patients were selected,including 70 males and 87 females,aged (60.5 ± 12.5) years,with a body mass index of (23.8 ± 3.2) kg/m2,and a total nutritional risk rate of 42％.According to visual analog scale scores,the degrees of pain due to the therapeutic catheters,in descending order,were as follows:4.9 ± 1.7 for nasogastric tube,3.6 ± 0.9 for wound drainage tube,3.0 ±0.9 for urinary catheter,2.6 ±0.9 for central venous catheter,2.4 ± 1.0 for peritoneal drainage tube,1.9 ± 0.7 for common bile duct drainage tube,and 1.8 ± 0.8 for peripherally inserted central catheter.The catheter-induced pain accounted for (44.9 ± 14.1)％ of the total pain during the hospital stay.Conclusions Nasogastric tube,wound drainage tube and urinary catheter can increase the pain of patients.It is therefore recommended to remove the indwelling tubes as early as possible if only the removal does not harm the outcome of the patient.

Objective:To analyze the clinical characteristics of necrotizing otitis externa(NOE) and to discuss its clinical staging and treatment.Methods:A retrospective case series study was conducted in the Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery Center of Beijing Friendship Hospital. Patients hospitalized in our department with diagnosis of NOE between June 2015 to December 2021 were included. There were 23 patients (23 affected ears), with 19 males and 4 females, aged 32-85 years (the median age was 68 years old). We analyzed and summarized the main symptoms and signs, laboratory examinations, imaging examinations, treatments and prognosis of the patients, and established a database for data collection and sorting.Results:All the 23 patients had various complications. There were 19 cases of type 2 diabetes, 5 cases of anemia, 3 cases of hypoalbuminemia, 2 cases of chronic renal insufficiency, and 1 case of uremia. The main symptoms on admission were otalgia, otorrhea, hearing loss, angular deviation, limited mouth opening, dysphagia and hoarseness. Physical examination showed swelling of the external ear canal (EEC), granulation tissue of the EEC, thin purulent secretion of the EEC, facial paralysis, restricted mouth opening, and decreased vocal cord movement. Etiological results showed 15 cases of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, 5 cases of Staphylococci and 3 cases of Aspergillus fumigatus. Imaging mainly showed abnormal soft tissue shadows of the EEC and middle ear, and temporomandibular joint, parapharyngeal space, skull base, intracranial and other adjacent structures were involved according to the different invasion directions of the lesions. According to the characteristics of these patients, we summarized a diagnostic criteria and clinical staging. All patients received systematic anti-infection, surgery and symptomatic support treatment. Until January 30, 2022, 4 patients died, including 1 case of extensive intracranial infection caused by NOE, and 3 cases of other systemic diseases after the affected ears were recovered and discharged from hospital. The other 19 patients′ ears were cured, the symptoms of otalgia and otorrhea disappeared, and the epithelization of the surgical cavity was good. Conclusion:The clinical manifestations of NOE lack specificity, and the diagnosis should be made according to the medical history, physical examination and auxiliary examination. According to different clinical stages, corresponding treatment measures should be formulated. The treatment is based on multidisciplinary comprehensive treatment, mainly surgical treatment. Early intervention has a good prognosis, otherwise, multiple-group of cranial nerve injury or intracranial infection implies poor prognosis.

Purpose: NUF2 has been implicated in multiple cancers recently, suggesting NUF2 may play a role in the common tumorigenesis process. In this study, we aim to perform comprehensive meta-analysis of NUF2 expression in the cancer types included in the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). Materials and Methods: RNA-sequencing data in 31 cancer types in the TCGA data and 11 independent datasets were used to examine NUF2 expression. Silencing NUF2 using targeting shRNAs in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cell lines was used to evaluate NUF2’s role in HCC in vitro and in vivo. Results: NUF2 up-regulation is significantly observed in 23 out of the 31 cancer types in the TCGA datasets and validated in 13 major cancer types using 11 independent datasets. NUF2 overexpression was clinically important as high NUF2 was significantly associated with tumor stages in eight different cancers. High NUF2 was also associated with significantly poorer patient overall survival and disease-free survival in eight and six cancers, respectively. We proceeded to validate NUF2 overexpression and its negative association with overall survival at the protein level in an independent cohort of 40 HCC patients. Compared to the non-targeting controls, NUF2 knockdown cells showed significantly reduced ability to grow, migrate into a scratch wound and invade the 8 μm porous membrane in vitro. Moreover, NUF2 knockdown cells also formed significantly smaller tumors than control cells in mouse xenograft assays in vivo. Conclusion NUF2 up-regulation is a common feature of many cancers. The prognostic potential and functional impact of NUF2 up-regulation warrant further studies.

Tongue squamous cell carcinoma is highly malignant and has a poor prognosis. In this study, we aimed to combine whole-genome sequencing, whole-genome methylation, and whole-transcriptome analyses to understand the molecular mechanisms of tongue squamous cell carcinoma better. Oral tongue squamous cell carcinoma and adjacent normal tissues from five patients with tongue squamous cell carcinoma were included as five paired samples. After multi-omics sequencing, differentially methylated intervals, methylated loop sites, methylated promoters, and transcripts were screened for variation in all paired samples. Correlations were analyzed to determine biological processes in tongue squamous cell carcinoma. We found five mutated methylation promoters that were significantly associated with mRNA and lncRNA expression levels. Functional annotation of these transcripts revealed their involvement in triggering the mitogen-activated protein kinase cascade, which is associated with cancer progression and the development of drug resistance during treatment. The prognostic signature models constructed based on WDR81 and HNRNPH1 and combined clinical phenotype-gene prognostic signature models showed high predictive efficacy and can be applied to predict patient prognostic risk in clinical settings. We identified biological processes in tongue squamous cell carcinoma that are initiated by mutations in the methylation promoter and are associated with the expression levels of specific mRNAs and lncRNAs. Collectively, changes in transcript levels affect the prognosis of tongue squamous cell carcinoma patients.
