Objective To study the effect of fissure sealant combined with fluorine-containing gel in the prevention of dental caries in children. Methods Totally 86 cases who came into our hospital for healthy check-up from June 2010 to June 2011 were slected, and they were divided into 3 groups according to a random number table.Children in fissure sealant group were given fissure sealant treatment, children in combined treatment group were given fluorine gel treatment in addition of fissure sealant, and children of the control group were given rou-tine oral care.Observed the caries average, adjacent surface caries and caries occurrence of the three groups, and observed the blocking agent of the fissure sealant group and the combined treatment group. Results Three years after the prophylactic treatment, the caries occurrence, adjacent surface caries and caries average of fissure sealant group and combined treatment group showed an obvious downward trend compared with those of the control group. But the caries occurrence, adjacent surface caries and caries average of combined treatment group were sig-nificantly lower than the fissure sealant group, with a statistically significant difference(P <0.05).In the follow-up of the first two years, the complete preservation rate of sealant in the combined treatment group was significantly higher than the fissure sealant group, while the partial and complete loss rate of sealant in the combined treatment group was significantly lower than the fissure sealant group, and the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05).Conclusion Fissure sealant combined with fluorine-containing gel in the prevention of dental caries in children can receive good results, and it is worth of promotion.

Objective To investigate treatment and related prognostic factors of tongue carcinoma .Methods Clinical and patho-logical parameters of 1 171 cases of tongue carcinoma treated in Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery ,School of Stomatolo-gy ,Harbin Medical University and Central South University from 2001 to 2007 were retrospective analyzed ,which included age , gender ,location ,pathological grade ,clinical TNM stages ,and treatment modality .Results After 3 to 5 year of follow-up ,survival rate of patients with tongue body carcinoma was obviously higher than that on the base of tongue .High clinical stage ,low cell dif-ferentiation degree of the postoperative patients had lower survival rate .The prognosis of patients with positive surgical margins and positive lymph node metastasis was poorer .The survival rate had no correlation with excision of mandible .When the tongue was re-stored with flaps ,the safety margins were increased to reduce recurrence .Conclusion Clinical TNM stages and surgical margin are independent prognostic factors for tongue cancer .Early diagnosis and treatment are vital to increase the survival rate of patients .

OBJECTIVETo investigate the relationship between rs6474051 polymorphism of pleomorphic adenoma gene 1 (PLAG1) and the benign parotid tumor in Chinese Han population in Hainan Province.
METHODSSixty-five patients with benign parotid tumor and 69 healthy volunteers (control) were examined for Rs6474051 polymorphisms of PLAG1 gene by PCR and sequencing.
RESULTSOf the 65 patients with benign parotid tumor, the frequencies of CC, CT, and TT genotypes were 33 (50.8%), 25 (38.5%), and 7 (10.7%), as compared to those of 44 (63.8%), 24 (34.8%), and 1 (1.4%) in the control group (P=0.05). The allele frequency of C/T was 70%/30% in patients with benign parotid tumor, significantly different from that in the control group (80.6%/19.4%, P<0.05).
CONCLUSIONRs6474051 polymorphism of PLAG1 gene may be associated with the benign parotid tumor in Chinese Han population in Hainan Province, and the T allele is probably one of susceptible genes.
