A new disease of Rhubarb occured in Gansu Province of China was reported.The disease appears along the veins of lower leaf surface of Rhuaarb (Rheum palmatum) with swelling,and shows a reddish-purple color at the beginning and turns pale brown late. On the leaf appears yellowish reticulated sppts, in Petioles the spots are tumourlike blisters arranged in rows.The growth of the smaller and in severe attacks the whole plant eventually withered.The causal pathogen was identified as a smut Thecaphora schwarzmaniana and seems to be the first reported case that occurs in China.Methods for its control are suggested.

Objective To study the clinical value of procalcitonon (PCT) for predicting development of acute kidney injury and outcomes in patients with acute pancreatitis (AP). Methods 205 inpatients with acute pancreatitis in our hospital were enrolled in our study during January 2012 to March 2013. According to acute kidney injury (AKI) occurred in three consecutive days or not, the patients were divided into AKI group (n = 32) and control group (n=173). Crea, Urea, CysC and PCT, serum amyloid A (SAA), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and C reactive protein (CRP) were analyzed. The predictive validity of these indicators was constructed by receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curve. Results PCT, IL-6, and CRP level of AKI group showed significant higher in AKI group than control group (P<0.05). However, there were no statistically significant difference of the level of Urea, Crea, Cys C and SAA between the two groups (P>0.05). The AUC value of PCT showed significant higher than the AUC value of CRP, IL-6 and SAA(P<0.05). Conclusion PCT is a early, sensitive, specific biomarker for predicting AKI of patients with AP.

Objective To study the effect of lentivirus-mediated CCL5-RNAi on the biological behaviors of human breast cancer cells. Methods CCL5-specific siRNA gene was synthesized and cloned into the recombinant lentiviral vector, pGCSIL-GFP. Human high-metastatic breast cancer cells, MDA-MB-231, were infected by CCL5-siRNA recombinant lentivirus, which was set as KD group. Cells infected with CCL5-NC was as NC group, and cells cultured was as CON group. The expression of CCL5 mRNA and protein in MDA-MB-231 cells was detected by RT-PCR and western blot, respectively. Cell growth suppression and cell cycle was observed by MTT assay and fluorescence activated cell sorting (FACS). Colony formation and migration ability were determined by colony-rorming assay and Boyden chamber method. Results After infection of CCL5-siRNA recombinant lentivirus, the expression level of CCL5 mRNA and protein in MDA-MB-231 cells as well as the colony formation and migration ability decreased significantly, but cell's proliferation was not affected obviously. Compared with MDA-MB-231 (0.88± 0.15) and MDA-MB-231/CCL5-NC (1.00±0.07) cells, the expression of CCL5 mRNA in MDA-MB-231/ CCL5-siRNA decreased to 0.18±0.03, P<0.01. Compared with MDA-MB-231/CCL5-NC (1.82±0.18) cells, the expression of CCL5 protein in MDA-MB-231/CCL5-siRNA decreased to 0.33±0.13, P <0.01. Colony-forming assay and Boyden chamber method showed that the colony formation and migration ability of MDA-MB-231/CCL5-siRNA decreased markedly (P<0.05). The clone count in KD group was (0.33± 0.10), which was a significant decrease from (0.97±0.09) (NC group) and (1.04±0.07) (CON group), P<0.05. The number of cells that migrated through the chamber membrane of KD group (38± 15) was less than that of NC group (77±11, P <0.05) and CON group (69±9, P <0.05). However, MTT assay and FACS revealed that the proliferation of MDA-MB-231/CCL5-siRNA was not different from MDA-MB-231/CCL5-NC and MDA-MB-231 (P>0.05), the proliferation index (PI) of group KD, NC and CON were (0.48±0.02), (0.44±0.05) and (0.47±0.02) respectively. The difference was not statistically significant by multiple comparison (P>0.05). Conclusion CCL5-specific siRNA can specifically suppress the colony formation and migration of human high-matastatic breast cancer cells.

The understanding of the biological behavior of breast cancer has deepened, hence, local treatments for breast cancer have changed from resection to minimally invasive surgery. For patients with early breast cancer, constructing a minimally invasive interven-tion with low systemic toxicity is a problem, especially for cases involving precancerous lesions. Intraductal therapy for breast cancer, which is performed by inserting reagents through breastfeeding openings using suitable carriers, is a promising, accurate, and minimal-ly invasive method for breast cancer prevention and treatment. The combination of intraductal therapy with new therapeutic strate-gies, such as targeted therapy, endocrine therapy, and immunotherapy, might improve the therapeutic effect. Moreover, the mecha-nisms of intraductal therapy for breast cancer incorporate nanotechnology, molecular imaging, and gene sequencing. Intraductal thera-py is based on clinical and pathologic characteristics of Chinese breast cancer patients, and such characteristics must be determined prior to clinical application. This article mainly discusses the research progress of breast intraductal intervention.

In this study, the colonization and distribution of Helicobacter pylori (Hp) in patients with chronic gastric diseases were investigated and the relationship between the periodontal initial treatment and presence of Hp in oral cavity was examined to better understand the connection between Hp infection and chronic diseases. Primers for PCR amplification were designed according to ureC gene and cagA genes of Hp. Specimens were harvested from different sites of 96 patients with chronic gastric diseases and the specimens of dental plaques, gargles and dorsal mucosa were tested for Hp. The 96 patients were treated by bismuth triple therapy and among them, 52 subjects were additionally given periodontal initial therapy. The eradication rate of gastric Hp and oral Hp detection rate were determined 4 weeks and 1 year after the treatment. The results showed that the detection rates of oral specimens were in the order of dental plaques (82.3%), gargles (51.1%) and scrapings of dorsal mucosa of tongue (37.5%). One year after bismuth triple therapy or the triple therapy in combination with periodontal initial treatment, the eradication rate of gastric Hp was significantly higher in the combination treatment group than in group treated by the triple therapy alone (62.8% vs. 32.4%, P<0. 05). Moreover, the Hp detection rate was significantly lower in the combination group than in the group treated only with the triple therapy. We are led to conclude that Hp is present at various parts of oral cavity, oral Hp might be an important source of gastric Hp and the triple therapy plus periodontal initial treatment can enhance the long-term eradication rate of gastric Hp in patient with both chronic gastric diseases and chronic periodontitis.

Aim: To observe the influence of high fat-high sucrose diet and chronic stress on insulin resistance. Methods: Male rats were divided into four groups: control, high fat-high sucrose diet( HFSD), chronic stress( CS), high fat-high sucrose diet plus chronic stress( HFSD + CS). After feeding the animals for 10 weeks, fat, glucose and insulin concentrations in blood and PPAR-α mRNA expression in liver were examined, and glu-cose infusion rate was detected by a hyperinsulinemic euglycemic clamp experiment. Results: Insulin resistance was observed in all three treated groups, showing the highest in the HFSD + CS group. Dyslipidemia, hypergly-cosemia, hyperinsulinism and the decrease of PPAR-α mRNA expression in liver were also shown in all treated groups. There was an obvious interaction of insulin resistance, hyperglycosemia and high FFA between high fat-high sucrose diet and chronic stress. Conclusion: Combination of high fat-high sucrose diet and chronic stress could promote the development of insulin resistance, which is likely due to the high level of serum FFA.

AIM: To study the effect of Yupingfeng Powder(YPFP) on rat's allergic rhinitis induced by stimulating ovalbumin.and reveal the influence on Th1,Th2 and Th1/Th2 proportion. METHODS: 8-week-old BALB/c mice were sensitized by means of intranasal and systemic intraperitoneal injection application of OVA,6 subjects were administered including 2,500 mg/kg extracts of YPFP for 7 days in early stage(interference group);6 mice were administered YPFP in after challenge(therapy group);the placebo group were given saline.After 7 days,Th1 and Th2 in splenocyte were detected by flow cytometry(FCM) and nasobuccal mucosa pathology were observed. Forty four patients (84 eyes)with primary chronic angle closure glaucoma,including 14 cases(26 eyes)with mild visual field defect,22 cases(42 eyes)with moderate defect and 8 cases(16 eyes) with severe defect,treated in our hospital from January 2014 to January 2016 were enrolled in the study.The visual field defect (MD),corneal endothelial cell density (ECD) and central corneal thickness (CCT) were measured.The average CCT in mild,moderate and severe visual field defect groups was (531.4 ± 27.1) μm,(521.2 ± 31.4) μm and (513.3 ± 28.2) μm,respectively (F =-3.24,P =0.04).The mean endothelial cell density in three groups was (2 635.0 ± 320.3) cells/mm2,(2 619.2 ± 161.4) cells/mm2 and(2 589.7 ± 290.4) cells/mm2,respectively (F =0.22,P =0.80).The results indicate that with the aggravation of visual field defect in patients with chronic angle closure glaucoma,the central corneal thickness is significantly thinner,and the mean density of central corneal endothelial cells shows a downward trend.Close observation and active intervention are needed for chronic angle closure glaucoma with thin central corneal thickness.

Objective To explore the effects of Chinese herbal compound Tangbikang on the expressions of p38 MAPK of sciatic nerve and plasma TNF-α in diabetic rats. Methods Ten of the sixty male SD rats were selected randomly as normal group, and the rest were fed with high-fat diet and low-dosage STZ was used to induce type Ⅱdiabetic rat models. Model rats were randomly divided into model group, mecobalamine group and Tangbikang low-, medium-, and high-dosage groups, 10 rats in each group. Each medication group was intervened with relevant medicine. Rat unilaterals sciatic nerves were taken after 16 weeks. The content of TNF-α in plasma was determined by radioimmunoassay. Western blot method was used to detect the expressions of p38 and p-p38 MAPK protein of sciatic nerve. Results Compared with normal group, the expressions of p38 and p-p38 protein and content of TNF-αin model group significantly increase (P<0.05, P<0.01). Compared with the model group, the expressions of p-p38 protein and the content of TNF-α significantly decreased after medicine intervention in different doses Tangbikang groups and mecobalamin group (P<0.05, P<0.01). The expression of p38 protein in Tangbikang high-dose group significantly decreased (P<0.05), with statistical significance (P<0.05). Conclusion Tangbikang can reduce the expression of p38 and p-p38 MAPK protein of the rat sciatic nerve, and reduce the content of TNF-α protein in rat plasma, which may be one of the effective targets of neuroprotection and abirritation of diabetic peripheral neuropathy.

Objective To analyze the clinicopathological characteristics of patients with benign thyroid nodules(BTN) and thyroid carcinoma(TC),and explore the clinical value of fine-needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB)in diagnosis of TC.Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the data of 2918 cases with thyroid carcinoma,who underwent surgery in the People's Hospital of Wuhan University between January 2011 and February 2015.Results Patients aged younger than 45 years old accounted for 26.23％ and 51.26％ in BTN group and CT group,respectively,and the difference between the two groups were statistically significant (P ＜ 0.05).Male patients accounted for 16.82％ and 20.15％ in BTN group and CT group,respectively,and the difference between the two groups were statistically significant (P ＜ 0.05).Patients with family history of thyroid related diseases accounted for 2.93％ and 3.70％ in BTN group and CT group,respectively,and there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups (P ＞ 0.05).Patients with solitary lesion accounted for 40.42％ and 47.95％ in BTN group and CT group,respectively,and the difference between the two groups were statistically significant(P ＜ 0.05).Af ter the application of FNAB,the percentage of the patients diagnosed with TC was increased by 4.83％ (P ＜ 0.05),and the diameter of nodular was increased by 4 cm (P ＜ 0.01).Conclusion Patients with TC have a characteristic of earlier onset age,higher proportion of male patients and lower incidence of multifocality compared with patients with BTN.There was no statistically significant difference between the TC group with family history of thyroid related diseases and the BTN group.The application of FNAB avoids of unnecessary surgeries on some BTN patients with small pathological diameter of nodule,it is important for preoperative diagnosis of thyroid nodules.
