1.The progress of radiotherapy for brain gliomas
Cancer Research and Clinic 2001;0(04):-
It is difficult to resect completely for brain glioma with surgery because of the characteristic of strong invasion and no obvious verge with the brain tissue, and result in easily recurrentshort life time and high mortality. Radiotherapy is important for patients after surgery. The factor of prognosis include ageKarnofsky score, pathology and degree of invasion. Recently, the improvement of new equipment and technology provide the more approach for brain glioma. The paper make a summary of current situation and progress for radiotherapy of brain glioma.

Objective To find a better method to reconstruct total ear in one stage. Methods In the procedure, a compound framework was formed, in which Medpor acted as ear framework and homogenous rib cartilage as helix-framework after being sculptured, then they were vamped together. The formed framework was covered with adjacent skin flap and homogenous skin graft after it had been covered with superficial temporal fascia flap. Results From January 2001 to Augest 2003, 8 cases of congenital microtia or antotia were treated in this way, and all of them obtained satisfactory appearance in auricle. Conclusion The reconstructed ear has a delicate structure and good appearance, and looks and feels as a real one by this new procedure.

Purpose:To study the effects and efficacy of three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3-DCRT) for brain gliomas. Methods:Thirty cases of brain gliomas were treated by three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy.Of these 21 patients had nesidual tumor after operation, 5 were post-operative recurrent patients and 4 were post-radiotherapy recurrent patients. The total irradiation dose was 42 Gy(BED 56 Gy). All patients received 6 Gy/F.qod.Results:In the 1-3 months after 3-DCRT,the results examined by CT or MRI showed that in the 30 patients, these were CR 40.0%,PR (33.3%), NC 20.0%, PD 6.7%,The total response rate was (CR+PR) 73.3%.No acute or chronic radiation side effects were observed in the follow up .The 0.5-,1-,2-,3-year survival rates were 93.3%,77.8%,71.31%,53.18% respectively. Conclusions:The result shows that 3-DCRT of brain gliomas can improve therapeutic effect.

Objective To design and synthesize a new potential angiogenesis inhibitor, demethyl bryoanthrathiophene. Methods Target molecule-demethyl bryoanthrathiophene was synthesized in 5 steps using 1,8-dihydroxy-9,10-anthraquinone as the starting material, 5,7-dihydroxy-1-carboxyl-6-oxo-6H-anthra thiophene as the key intermediate and decarboxylization as the key step. Results The target molecule was synthesized with a total yield of 10.1% and identified by MS, IR, UV, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR and 2D-NMR. Conclusion Our synthesis of demethyl bryoanthrathiophene is based on an easily-acquired starting material and accomplished with a simple synthetic route.

AIM: To evaluate the reliability of making a research model of coronary artery stenosis and local myocardial infarction reproduced in dog by ligating canine LAD. METHODS: We disparted 30 aged healthy cross-breed dogs [(18.5?6.7) kg] into three groups. The near part of the LAD through left minimal thoracic incision was ligated to interdict 25% (group A), 50% (group B), 75% (group C) of the flux, respectively. The changes of plasma endothelium-derived factors NO, ET-1, sP-selectin and CTnT were measured before ligation and at different time points after ligation. The expression of P-selectin gene in cardiac muscle was detected by Western blotting. The segments of distal parts of the ligated LAD were cut and pathological changes of the patches of topical cardiac muscle were observed by electronic microscope. RESULTS: After ligation, NO/ET-1, P-selectin and CTnT had significant changes in group B (P

ObjectiveTo evaluate the accuracy of measurement of left ventricular(LV) volume and function in coronary heart disease(CHD) by real-time three-dimensional echocardiography(RT-3DE) using cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMRI).Methods LV end diastolic volume(EDV),LV end systolic volume(ESV) and LV ejection fraction(EF) were measured with RT-3DE in patients with CHD ( n =37) and in the control ( n =30).The results measured by RT 3DE were compared with those of CMRI.The diagnostic value of RT-3DE was evaluated using receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve. Results Compared with that measured by CMRI,EDV,ESV and EF by RT 3DE( P >0.05) were almost similar as that in the control.Area under ROC curve of in EDV and ESV were 0.912 and 0.944 in the control. However,EDV determined by RT-3DE was smaller than that by CMRI( P <0.05) in CHD group.A difference (10.95 ± 31.26 ml) was existed in EDV between the two methods.ESV measured by RT-3DE was smaller than that calculated by CMRI( P >0.05) with a mean differance of (3.17 ± 16.42)ml in CHD group.EF by RT-3DE( P >0.05)was almost as same as that by CMRI in CHD group, with a mean difference of (1.54 ± 11.85)%.The area under ROC curve of EDV and ESV were 0.834 and 0.873 in CHD group and their diagnostic performance was moderate.ConclusionsMeasurment of LV volume and function by RT 3DE in control was more acurrate than that in CHD.In the cases of LV remodeling in patients with CHD,RT-3DE would underestimate the LV volume.

Objective: To observe the effect of Shenfu Injection on carcinemia and study its mechanism. Methods: Mice C57 Lewis lung cancer model were established. The changes of physiological conditions(body weight, food and water intake),the serum levels of tumor necrosis factor-?(TNF-?),interleukin-6(IL-6) and interleukin-1(IL-1) were observed in the experiment. Results: Shenfu Injection can signifi cantly increase water and food intake of carcinemia mice, and inhibited the loss of body weigh(P
9.Medical image segmentation based on the minimum variation snake model.
Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2007;24(1):32-35
It is difficult for traditional parametric active contour (Snake) model to deal with automatic segmentation of weak edge medical image. After analyzing snake and geometric active contour model, a minimum variation snake model was proposed and successfully applied to weak edge medical image segmentation. This proposed model replaces constant force in the balloon snake model by variable force incorporating foreground and background two regions information. It drives curve to evolve with the criterion of the minimum variation of foreground and background two regions. Experiments and results have proved that the proposed model is robust to initial contours placements and can segment weak edge medical image automatically. Besides, the testing for segmentation on the noise medical image filtered by curvature flow filter, which preserves edge features, shows a significant effect.

Clinical Psychopharmacology and Neuroscience 2023;21(2):395-399
To date, tachycardia and orthostatic hypotension have been reported as one of the negative cardiovascular complications of antipsychotics. The aim of this study was to report a case of sinus bradycardia caused by the addition of lurasidone. The patient, a 46-year-old bipolar disorder female, was admitted to the Affiliated Brain Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University with 28 years of alternating euphoric and dysphoria. On the basis of lithium carbonate 1,200 mg/day and sodium valproate 1,500 mg/day, the patient was given lurasidone 80 mg/day. After 5 days of medication, her heart rate (HR) became 48 beats per minute (beats/min). As a result, lurasidone treatment was held. On 5th day after discontinuing lurasidone, the HR reached 80 beats/min. This case report notifies that although the cardiovascular effects of lurasidone are not significant, it is also important to monitor HR status after the first administration of lurasidone.
