Objective To explore the relationship between red blood cell volume distribution width (RDW) and degree of liver fibrosis in patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB). Methods One hundred and sixty-four patients with CHB were consecutively selected. According to the fibrosis index based on the 4 factors (FIB-4) index, the patients were divided into 3 groups: low-FIB group (FIB-4 <1.45, 116 cases), mid-FIB group (FIB-4 1.45-3.25, 31 cases) and high-FIB group (FIB-4 > 3.25, 17 cases), and the clinical data and laboratory indexes (including RDW) were compared. The patients were divided into Ⅰ group (RDW<0.113, 43 cases), Ⅱ groups (RDW 0.113-0.119, 40 cases), Ⅲ group (RDW 0.120-0.127, 43 cases) andⅣgroup (RDW>0.127, 38 cases) according to the RDW, and the FIB-4 were compared. The correlation between RDW and FIB-4 was analyzed by Spearman correlation test. Results The RDW and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) in low-FIB group, mid-FIB group and high- FIB group were gradually increased: 0.117 ± 0.011, 0.122 ± 0.010, 0.134 ± 0.018 and (18.9 ± 7.3), (28.2 ± 10.4), (44.1 ± 13.3) U/L, but the platelet was gradually decreased:(211.3 ± 48.8), (159.3 ± 40.0) and (150.4 ± 31.2) ×109/L, and there were statistical differences (P<0.05). The FIB-4 inⅠgroup,Ⅱgroup,Ⅲgroup andⅣgroup was gradually increased:1.07 ± 0.74, 1.11 ± 0.56, 1.35 ± 0.70 and 2.03 ± 1.06, and there was statistical difference (P<0.05). Spearman correlation test result showed that FIB-4 and RDW was positively correlated (r=0.447, P<0.01). Conclusions The level of RDW is closely related with the degree of liver fibrosis in patients with CHB. RDW has a potential value in assessing the progress of liver fibrosis.

Objective To explore the change of Doppler velocity waveforms in the fetal main pulmonary artery in patients with early onset severe preeclampsia and to assess its value in fetal lung maturity. Methods A prospective study was conducted to analyze fetal main pulmonary artery velocity waveforms parameters including acceleration time(AT),ejection time(ET),acceleration time/ejection time (AT/ET),peak systolic velocity (PSV) in 30 cases of pregnant women with early onset severe preeclampsia.According to neonatal outcome, these cases were divided into respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) group (18 cases) and non-RDS group (12 cases). Each group was compared with 54 cases and 36 cases that were normal and had corresponding gestational age separately.Doppler parameters were compared between these two groups and their corresponding normal control groups. Results Gestational age at sonographic examination, gestational age at delivery and birth weight of neonates in RDS group were significantly lower than those in non-RDS group(all P <0.001).The value of AT,ET,AT/ET,PSV were lower in RDS group than those in gestational age-matched control group(all P <0.05),while there were no significant difference between non-RDS group and gestational age-matched control group(all P > 0.05).Conclusions Doppler ultrasound monitoring fetal main pulmonary artery velocity waveforms to evaluate fetal lung maturity in patients with early onset severe preeclampsia has clinical application value.
3.The effect of physical properties of chitosan on cell activity and on its mechanics property.
Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2012;29(6):1212-1216
Chitosan is a natural biopolymer and is made up of D-glucosamine subunits linked by beta-(1,4) glycosidic bond. In recent years, the application of chitosan has attracted more and more attention because of its good biological function in cell biology. The properties of chitosan-based biomaterial are attributed to the physical properties and chemical composition of chitosan. The author of this paper summarized recent related studies and progresses of the influence of physical properties of chitosan on cell activity and cell mechanics property at home and abroad. The findings show that most studies mainly focused on the influence of chitosan and cell activity, while few were on cell mechanics property. The related studies of the influence of chitosan on cell will contribute to the explanation for the mechanism of the interaction between chitosan and cell, and provide the theoretical support for the further study.

Objective Combination of nanoparticle with p53 and Rb gene therapy by gene targeting was applied to investigate its curative effect and safety evaluation on colorectal rabbit hepatic VX2 metastasis for tumor eradication and survival enhancement. Methods Recombinant expressing plasmids harboring wild type p53 and Rb were cotransferred or transferred separately to the rabbit hepatic VX2 metastasis by the emulsion of PLL-nHAP nanoplex and lipodiol through the hepatic artery in a tumor target manner. Subsequent co-expressions of p53 and Rb protein within the treated tumors were detected by Western blot and in situ analysis of confocal laser scanning microscope. The therapeutic effect was evaluated by the tumor growth velocity and the survival time of animals. Eventually, investigations of liver function were applied to evaluate the safety of the process. Results With safe procedure for the rabbits liver function, both p53 and Rb local nano-therapy showed favorable anti-tumor effects and increased animal survival time. p53+Rb local nano-therapy could significantly inhibit hepatic VX2 metastasis and enhance the animal survival time compared with p53 local nano-therapy or Rb local nano-therapy. Local nano-therapy showed no significant influence to animal liver function. Conclusions Rb can work synergistically with p53 in the combined therapy mediated by PLL-nHAP nanoplex to augment the anti-tumor effect. The local nano-therapy with p53 and Rb is likely to be an effective and safe anti-tumor therapy for hepatic colorectal metastasis.

Objective:To explore the differential diagnosis and different treatment methods of chylothorax and pseudochylothorax after lung cancer surgery. Methods:Clinical data of 1 584 surgical patients with non-small cell lung cancer from January 2016 to December 2021 were analyzed, 21 cases of chylothorax and 8 cases of pseudochylothorax were identified and analyzed to compare the differences in pleural fluid chyle test, pleural effusion biochemical values, total cholesterol, triglycerides, total cholesterol/triglyceride ratio, leukocyte count, bacterial culture and treatment. Results:The incidence of chylothorax after lung cancer surgery was 1.3%, and the incidence of pseudochylothorax was 0.5%; 80.9%% of chylothorax on the right side was significantly higher than 19.1% of chylothorax on the left side, and the difference was statistically significant( P<0.05). Pseudochylothorax occurred on the right side(100%). The difference between chylothorax and pseudochylothorax in pleural fluid tests for cholesterol and triglyceride was statistically significant( P<0.05), the leukocyte count was significantly higher in pseudochylothorax than chylothorax, and the difference was statistically significant( P<0.05). The differences in drainage before treatment, postoperative drainage time and postoperative hospitalization time between the two groups were statistically significant( P<0.05). The success rate was 61.9% in 13 cases of chylothorax treated conservatively and 38.1% in 8 cases of thoracic duct clamping; all cases of pseudochylothorax were treated conservatively with a success rate of 100%. Conclusion:In naddition to pleural fluid chyle test and pleural effusion biochemical values, total cholesterol, triglyceride and total cholesterol to triglyceride ratio in pleural fluid should be tested to identify chylothorax and pseudochylothorax, high triglyceride in pleural fluid diagnosed as chylothorax; Pseudochylothorax is diagnosed with a cholesterol/triglyceride ratio >1 in the pleural fluid, pseudochylothorax is usually treated conservatively. Chylothorax is treated conservatively and surgically according to different conditions. If the drainage flow is greater than 800 ml/day for 3 consecutive days or if it causes serious electrolyte disorders, it is recommended to perform thoracoscopic-assisted thoracic duct clamping via right-sided approach.
