Objective To investigate gene expression of transforming growth factor-β(TGF-β) in local bony callus in traumatic brain injury combined with extremity long bone fracture in rats.Methods Eighty male SD rats were randomized into 2 even groups: the experimental group were models of traumatic brain injury combined with extremity bone fracture and the control group were models of simple extremity bone fracture. Samples of bony callus were harvested at 1, 2, 3, and 4 weeks in both groups, each time from 10rats respectively, for detection of gene expressions of TGF-β by reverse transcription PCR techniques.Results Levels of gene expression of TGF-3 in local bony callus in the experimental group were significantly higher than in the control group at one week ( P ＜ 0. 05); but significantly lower at 3 weeks( P ＜ 0. 05) .Peak values occurred at 2 week in both groups, though, significantly higher than at other times, there was no significant difference between the 2 groups( P ＞ 0. 05) .Conclusion Changes in gene expression of TGF-β in local bony callus in traumatic brain injury combined with extremity long bone fracture indicate that TGF-β may play a role in the process of increased fracture healing.

Objective To investigate the estradiol (E2) prolactin (PRL) levels in young females with cerebral trauma combined with extremity long tubular bone fracture. Methods E2 and PRL were detected in 39 young females with cerebral trauma combined with extremity long tubular bone fracture (experimental group) and 42 young females with just extremity long tubular bone fracture (control group) at 1 to 3, 5 to 7, 10 to 14, 28 to 30, and 56 to 60 days after injury. Results E2 levels in the experimental group were significantly higher than in the control group at 1 to 3, 5 to 7, 10 to 14, and 28 to 30 days after injury (P < 0.05), but there was no significant difference in the E2 level between the 2 groups at 56 to 60 days after injury (P > 0.05) . Compared with 1 to 3 days, the E2 level was significantly decreased in the experimental group at other time points (P < 0. 05), while there was no significant difference in the E2 level in the control group among each time point (P > 0. 05). PRL level in the experimental group was significantly higher than in the control group at all time points. In particular, the PRL level in the experimental group was significantly increased at 5 to 7, 10 to 14 and 28 to 30 days after injury, compared with that at 1 to 3 days after injury (P<0.05), but there was no significant difference in the PRL level between 56 to 60 days and 1 to 3 days (P > 0. 05). Additionally, the PRL level did not change in the control group at all time points (P > 0.05). Time of fracture healing in the experimental group was significantly shorter than in the control group, while the time of hospital stay in the experimental group was significantly longer than in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion E2 and PRL levels increase remarkably in the young females with cerebral trauma combined with extremity long tubular bone fracture at an early onset stage.

Objective To characterize the expressiou of c-fos and c-jun in traumatic brain injury combined with tibial fracture in rats.Methods One hundred and twenty male SD rats were randomized into equal 2 groups (n =60).Models of traumatic brain injury combined with tibial fracture were established in the experimental group while models of simple tibial fracture in the control group.After animal cerebral cortex and tissues of fracture proximal ends were sampled,qPCR techniques were used to detect the mRNA expression levels of c-fos and c-jun at 6 time points of 1 h,3 h,5 h,1 w,3 wand4w (n=10) in both experimental and control groups.Results There were no significant differences between the 2 groups in the expression levels of c-jun or c-fos gene in the cerebral cortex or tibial samples at 1 h,3 h,5 h,1 w,3 w or 4 weeks after fracture (P ＞ 0.05).The expression of c-fos in the cerebral cortex peaked at 1 h in both groups (8.98 ± 3.06 & 8.48 ± 1.74),showing significant differences between the peak values and the low levels at other time points (P ＜ 0.05).The expression of c-jun in the cerebral cortex peaked at 4 w in both groups (3.94 ±0.59 & 3.91 ±0.41),showiug significant differences from other time points (P ＜ 0.05).The expression of c-fos in the tibial samples peaked at 1 w in both groups (1.99 ±0.27 & 1.94 ±0.27) and that of c-jun did too at 1 w in both groups (3.95 ±0.41 & 3.86 ±0.43),showing significant differences from other time points (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion The high expression levels of c-fos and c-jun in the brain tissue may not be associated with the high expression levels of c-fos and c-jun in the fracture region.

A rapid fetal ECG signal acquisition system is designed, which includes three modules: a front-end signal acquisition module, a micro control module and a PC software application module. The first two modules are accomplished through the ADS1294 and the STM32F103 chips, respectively, and the third one is developed in VC++ platform. By using the FT245RL chip, the proposed system implements the serial-parallel conversion communication between ARM and PC, improving the data transmission rate largely. Also, it has a simple structure, with low power consumption and high precision. Furthermore, it can collect fetal ECG signals from mother's abdominal wall and convert them into the 24-bit digital signals.

Objective To increase curative rate of nonoperation treatment for adult blunt splenic trauma.Methods Data of 141 patients with blunt splenic trauma treated in our hospital from March 2010 to October 2014 were retrospectively analyzed in accordance with the spleen injury degree classification issued by the Spleen Surgery Group of Chinese Society of Surgery in 2000.According to the treatment within 6 hours of injury,these patients were divided into operative and nonoperative management groups.Results The proportion of non operation was 69.5％ (98/141) and the success rate was 89.8％ (88/98).43 cases were in operation group:34 cases in grade Ⅲ,9 cases with grade Ⅳ,3 cases died; 98 cases were in non operation group:including 32 cases of grade Ⅰ,50 cases of grade Ⅱ,15 cases of grade llⅢ,1 case with grade Ⅳ.10 cases failed non operation treatment including 1 case with grade Ⅰ complicated by pancreatic and intestinal injury causing peritonitis during the period of observation,1 case of grade Ⅱ complicated by contusion of the liver and secondary bleeding on day 3 after the trauma,7 cases of grade Ⅲ,were converted to surgery because of multiple organ injury and rebleeding secondary to pulmonary complications,and 1 case of grade Ⅳ with multiple organ injury and shock being immediately converted to surgery.In overall there were 2 deaths in nonsurgery group,1 case with grade Ⅲ and 1 case with grade Ⅳ.Condusions Nonoperative treatment of blunt splenic trauma is safe and feasible in grade up to]Ⅱ blund splenic trauma patients.

Objective To explore the photographic parameter for CR image splicing of double total length lower extremities and the evaluation of clinical application. Methods The suitable X-ray exposure conditions for full-leg digital radiograph was chosen according to the application of FCR-5000 CR imaging system and the exposure conditions of CR in osseous system. Results Optimal tube voltage and milliamp-second of parameters for the full-length leg projection was acquired in terms of the distribution of spatial resolution under different parameters of exposure. Conclusion The exposure parameter of CR in full-leg image stitching should be based on the characteristics of CR imaging system and the results of experiment. It is important to choose the most appropriate exposure parameters to ensure image quality and reduce radiation dose on patients to provide veracious image data for clinical application with osteoarthritis of the knee.

Objective To investigate the changes in plasma microRNA-126 and microRNA-1 in children with asthma exacerbation and its relationship with bronchial asthma.Methods From October 2012 to December 2013,48 children with asthma exacerbation from the Outpatient Department and the Inpatient Department in Houjie Hospital Affiliated to Guangdong Medical College were enrolled in the study (asthma group).Meanwhile,52 healthy children wcre selected as the healthy control group.The expression levels of plasma microRNA-126 and microRNA-1 were detected by real-time quantitative PCR (RT-PCR).The content of interleukin-4 (IL-4) and interferon-γ (IFN-γ) in plasma was measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).The predictive value of microRNA-126 and microRNA-1 in plasma to bronchial asthma was evaluated by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve.Results The relative expression levels of plasma microRNA-126 in the asthma group were upregulated compared with those in the healthy control group [7.36 (0.96-41.21) vs 3.68 (0.75-38.91),Z =3.135,P =0.038],and microRNA-1 relative expression levels in the asthma group were lower than those of the healthy control group [2.17 (0.18-26.97) vs 5.83 (0.82-39.62),Z =2.156,P =0.045].The content of IL-4 in asthma group was higher than those of the control group [(109.98 ± 74.58) ng/L vs (78.50 ± 75.82) ng/L,t =2.122,P =0.036],and the IFN-γ level in the asthma group was lower than those of the healthy control group [(70.49 ± 12.03) ng/L vs (77.03 ± 17.16) ng/L,t =2.270,P =0.025].In the plasma of patients with asthma exacerbation,the sensitivity of microRNA-126 and microRNA-1 was 85.42％ (41/48 cases)and 79.17％ (38/48 cases),respectively.The specificity of microRNA-126 and microRNA-1 in healthy controls was 78.85％ (41/52 cases) and 73.08％ (38/52 cases),respectively.The area under ROC curve of microRNA-126 and microRNA-1 was 0.919 (95％ CI 0.866-0.973),0.867 (95％ CI 0.796-0.939).Conclusions MicroRNA-126 is significantly elevated in plasma of children with asthma exacerbation.The plasma levels of microRNA-1 were significantly downregulated.These results suggest that microRNA-126 and microRNA-1 may be potential markers for the diagnosis of bronchial asthma.

Objective To explore the effect of continuing nursing on the rehabilitation of patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) after transurethral resection of prostate (TURP).Methods Toally 128 BPH patients after TURP in our hospital from May 2015 to May 2016 were evenly divided into control group and observation group by random digit table.The patients in the control group were normally guided at discharge and those in the observation group the continuing nursing was done by telephone,WeChat,QQ or family visits for 6 weeks after discharge besides normal guidance.The two groups were compared in terms of self-care ability,treatment compliance,complications and quality of life.Results After the intervention,the scores on health knowledge,self-care ability,self-care responsibility,self-care concept,self-care skills dimension of the observation group were significantly higher than those of the control group.The treatment compliance was significantly higher than that of the control group and the incidences of complications,including pain,hematuria,urinary intontinerce and retentron and infection,constipation were significantly lower than those of the control group.The scores on quality of life,physical function,role function,cognitive function,emotional function and social function score were significantly higher than those in the control group (all P＜0.05).Conclusion The continuing nursing after surgical treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia patients can be effective in the improvements of patient's self-care ability,establishment of healthy life behavior,reduction of complications,promotion of their rehabilitation and ultimately the improvement of their quality of life.

Objective To investigate the frequency of c-kit mutation and prognosis in t (8;21) acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients with trisomy 4. Methods A total of 145 de novo t(8;21) AML patients from February 2005 to January 2013 were analyzed retrospectively. Detection of exons 8 and 17 mutation of c-kit by PCR and cytogenetic analysis by R-banding technologies were performed on bone marrow samples of all patients at diagnosis. Clinical data were collected and analyzed statistically. Results Among 145 t (8;21) AML patients, 12 cases (8.3 %) were trisomy 4, 91.7 % (11/12) of them were identified with c-kit mutation, which was significantly higher than that without trisomy 4 [26.3 % (35/133), P< 0.01]. The follow-up data showed that the patients with trisomy 4 were correlated with the lower overall survival (OS) rate (15 % vs 56 %, P< 0.01) and disease-free survival (DFS) rate (0 vs 51 %, P< 0.01) when compared with patients without trisomy 4. Furthermore, the subgroup of patients with both trisomy 4 and c-kit mutation had a worse OS and DFS (P< 0.05). Conclusions Trisomy 4 is associated with high frequency of c-kit mutation and demonstrates poor prognosis in t(8;21) AML patients. Trisomy 4 or it combined with c-kit gene mutation is the main influencing factor on the survival of the patients with t(8;21) AML.

OBJECTIVETo compare enhanced spiral computed tomography (SCT), and plain CT with pathological findings in the diagnosis of peritoneal metastasis.

METHODSThirty-eight patients with peritoneal metastasis were examined by whole abdominal plain CT and enhanced SCT within one week before operation. The CT findings were compared with the pathological findings of specimens obtained during operation.

RESULTSIn the early phase of contrast SCT, various degrees of enhancement were observed in the majority of peritoneal metastases. Primary cancers and the metastatic lesions were enhanced to same degree. For lesions with rich blood supply, a 2 mm metastatic lesion was usually detected by contrast SCT. The sensitivity of plain CT and enhanced SCT for the detection of peritoneal metastasis in all involvements were 46.7% and 76.6% (chi(2) = 29.07, P < 0.005). For contrast SCT, the detection rates of peritoneal carcinomatosis were higher then 83% in the fallopian tubes, ovary, subphrenic spaces, mesentery of small intestine, transverse colon and omentum.

CONCLUSIONEnhanced spiral CT, being superior to plain CT, is effective in detecting and diagnosing peritoneal metastasis.
