Garrès osteomyelitis is a specific type of chronic osteomyelitis that most commonly occurs in young patients, secondary to dental infection, and affects the unilateral side of the mandible. Bilateral mandibular Garrè's osteomyelitis is rare. In this article, a case of Garrè's osteomyelitis with bilateral mandible is reported. Its etiology, clinical pathologic features, diagnosis, differential diagnosis, and treatment methods are discussed by reviewing relevant literature.

Objective To investigate the therapeutic effects of recombinant human erythropoietin(rhEPO)on brain mitochondrial energy metabolism and mitachondrial respiratory functionin after brain injury in rats.Method A total of 63 Sprague-Dawley rats were divided randomly into three groups:the rhEPO treated group(n =28),the control group(n=28),the shanl group(n=7).The models of contusion of brain caused by freefalling were set up in rhEPO treated group(n=28).The recombinant human erythropoietin was intraperitoneally injected in dose of 10 U/g immediately after brain injury and it was repeated every 10 hours in rhEPO group treated. The same models of contused brain were made without rhEPO treatment as control group(n=28).In control group, the same volume of normal saline was used in replacemem of rhEPO.Aburr hole was made on the skull of the sham group(n=7),but the brain tissue was not wounded. The mitochondria were isolated at 6 h,12 h,24h,48 h after trealment, respectively. The activity of ATPase and SOD,the content MDA and brain mitochondrial respiratory function were measured by biochemical technique. The data were analyzed with the F-test and t-test.Results The activity of ATPase(P<0.05),SOD(P<0.01)and brain mitochondrial respiratory function(P <0.05)were increased.and the levd of MDA in brain mitochondria was reduced markedly in rats treated with rhEPO.Conclusions Treatment with rhEPO can alleviates the secondary brain injury by affecting mitochondrial function.

ObjectiveStudy the effects of mitral valve replacement using video-assisted thorascoscopy compared with median sternotomy mitral valve replacement.MethodsBetween October 2003 and October 2011,72 cases suffer from mitral valve disease underwent video-assisted thorascoscopic mitral valve replacement,74 cases underwent median sternotomy procedure.CPB time, cross clamp time, ventilation time, drainage,ICU stay time and hospital stay time of the two groups were compared. Results It was longer that CPB time and cross clamp time in video-assisted thoracospic group than those of median sternotomy group. There was statistically significant difference. However there was no statistically significant differentce in ventilation time and ICU stay time between two groups.Drainage of video-assisted thoracospic group was less than median sternotomy group. And there was statistically significant difference.ConclusionAs long as strictly a good indication, mitral valve surgery can routinely be performed with video-assisted thoracospic.

OBJECTIVETo explore the diagnostic value of endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) combined with Surepath liquid-based cytology test for lung and mediastinal lymphadenopathy.
METHODSEighty EBUS-TBNA cases in West China Hospital of Sichuan University collected from December 2011 to June 2014 were retrospectively analyzed. The conventional smears and Surepath liquid based preparations were reviewed and compared with histological biopsy. Evaluated whether liquid based preparation could improve the satisfactory rate and diagnostic accuracy.
RESULTSThis study included 53 men and 27 women, the male to female ratio was 1.96:1.00; the age ranged from 17 to 79 (mean 54) years. One to four lymph node groups were aspirated in each patient, resulting in a total of 109 lymph node groups, including 57 paratracheal, 34 subcarinal, three tracheal bronchial, seven pulmonary and four hilar lymph node groups. The definite locations of four other mediastinal lymph node groups were not known. The overall satisfactory rate of conventional smears and liquid-based cytology test was 90.0% and 92.5%, respectively. By histology, there were 37 cases diagnosed as malignant tumors, nine as tuberculosis, two as sarcoidosis, 11 as unexplained granulomatous inflammation, and 27 as other benign lesions. The sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of conventional cytological smears for tumors were 86.5%, 97.7% and 92.5% respectively; the positive and negative predictive values were 97.0% and 89.4% respectively. The sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of the liquid-based preparation were 89.2%, 97.7% and 93.8% respectively; the positive and negative predictive values were 97.1% and 91.3% respectively. Combining the conventional cytological smears and liquid based preparation, the sensitivity, specificity and accuracy were 91.9%, 97.7% and 95.0% respectively; and the positive and negative predictive values were 97.1% and 93.3% respectively.
CONCLUSIONSEBUS-TBNA is a good method to diagnose lung and mediastinal lymphadenopathy. Surepath liquid based cytology test could improve the sample satisfactory rate, the diagnostic sensitivity and accuracy. If combined with immunocytochemistry it could be useful for further tumor typing. EBUS-TBNA combined with Surepath liquid based preparation is an effective complement for the histologic biopsy.

Objective:
To determine health risk behaviors and cluster patterns among adolescents from four minorities in rural of Wuling mountainous area, and to provide a reference for health education for adolescents in ethnic minority areas.
Methods:
Totally 4 162 teenagers from 8 rural middle schools of Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Dong Autonomous County of Tongdao, Huaihua, Bai Minority Village of Sangzhi County, Zhangjiajie, were selected with multi-stage stratified random cluster sampling and surveyed with a questionnaire to collect information on health risk behaviors from September to October, 2018. Cluster patterns of health risk behaviors were analyzed by sex by two-step cluster method.
Results:
The occurrence rates of the behaviors of the adolescents from four minorities of smoking, drinking, walking violations, unsafe swimming, fighting, suicide idea, feeling lonely constantly, frequent sleeplessness, depression, internet addiction were 18.9%, 31.0%, 49.6%, 32.3%, 28.6%, 18.3%, 16.3%, 12.4%, 16.3%, 6.7% respectively, among which the highest occurrence rates were Tujia teenagers’ fight(31.4%), Miao teenagers’ unsafe swimming(45.1%), Dong teenagers’ drinking(34.8%), Bai teenagers’ walking violation(52.9%). And the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). Among the lowest risk group, there were 322 male students (16.4%) and 496 female students (22.5%); Among the moderate low group, there were 377 male students (19.3%) and 536 female students (24.3%); Among the implicit behavior high risk group, there were 518 male students (26.5%) and 758 female students(34.4%);Among the explicit behavior high risk group, there were 741 male students (37.8%) and 414 female students(18.8%). 23.1% of teenagers engaged in four or more types of health risk behaviors, with male higher than that of female(χ2=183.52, P<0.01), and the rate of Miao teenagers (28.2%) was the highest.
Conclusion
Health risk behaviors among minority adolescents in Wuling rural areas are prevalent and varied in ethnicity. Clustering of explicit risk behaviors in boys and implicit risk behaviors in girls were obvious. The hierarchical guidance and comprehensive intervention should be carried out on the basis of the characteristics of different minority teenagers’ health risk behaviors.
