Objective To investigate the biosynthesis of arbutin by suspension culture of crown gall of transgenic Panax quinquefolium. Methods Hydroquinone in methanol(60 mg/mL) was added to the medium of the crown gall of P.quinquefolium after precultured for 20 d,then they were co-cultured for another 60 h.The product was isolated and purified by column chromatography and its structure was identified by physicochemical properties and spectroscopic data. The dynamic curve of biotransformation was investigated by quantative analysis of arbutin with HPLC.Results The product could be obtained from both of the culture and medium, which was isolated and elucidated as 4-hydroxyphenyl-?-D-glucopyranoside(arbutin).After co-cultured for 60 h,the mole conversion ratio of hydroquinone is 88.4%,the product contents in culture and medium are 63.69 mg/flask and 1.86 mg/flask,respectively,and the excretion ratio of arbutin reaches the highest(2.92%).Conclusion It's the first time around the world that the crown gall of transgenic P.quinquefolium is used as a biotransformation system and arbutin which shows varied pharmacological activites have been got successfully.

Objective: To investigate the effects of different concentrations of vitamin E (VE) on angiogenesis and its possible mechanism. Methods: The rings of rat aorta were embedded in gels of collagen and cultured in a serum free medium for 28 days. Curves of microvessels growth were generated by counting the number of newly formed microvessels every day with an inverted microscope. Photos were taken at the same time. Expression of factor FVIII related antigen (FVIII RAg) in newly formed microvessels was detected by immunohistochemistry. Concentration change of FVIII R in medium was evaluated by ELISA. Results: Both 0.2 g/L and 0.1 g/L VE showed significant inhibitory effect on angiogenesis (P0.05). The inhibitory effect of VE was expressed in the phases of microvessel growth and decline (10-25 d). Conclusion: 1.Three dimensional collagen gels culture of microvessel in serum free medium can be used as a sensitive assay for study of soluble and solid phase angiogenic agonists and antagonists. 2. Both 0.1 g/L and 0.2 g/L VE inhibit angiogenesis, and VE has no toxicity and no drug resistance.

In recent years,it has been found high myopia is significantly related with primary open-angle glaucoma.Myopic retinopathy is high risk factors of primary open-angle glaucoma, and the retinal degeneration of high myopia is similar to the feature of primary open-angle glaucoma, which cause difficult to early diagnosis. How to identify early-stage glaucoma from high myopia patients, and give early intervention treatment has become a difficult problem. This article reviews research literature about the relationship between high myopia and between primary open-angle glaucoma.

Objective To characterize 16S rRNA methylase encoding genes associated with aminoglycoaides resistance, gene cassettes of class Ⅰ integrons of the multidrug-resistant Acinetobctcter spp. The sixty one Acinetobacter isolates were collected at the Second Hospital of Shanxi Medical Uni versity from July, 2007 to May, 2008. Methods Species identification was confirmed by sequence analysis of the blaOXA-51-like gene and 16S-23S rRNA gene space-region. Antimierobial susceptibility tests were performed by agar dilution method. 16S rRNA methylaae encoding genes and gene cassettes associated with integrons were amplified by PCR method. Results Among the sixty one strains, there were fifty five of Acinetobacter baumannii, three genospecies 3TU, one 13TU, one Aeinetobaeter ealcoacetieus, and one Aeinetobaeter haemolytieus. Forty eight isolates showed high-level resistance to three aminoglyeosides, including amikaein, tobramyein and gentamicin. The armA gene was found in 47 isolates and all isolates were negative for rmtA, rmtB, rmtC and rmtD genes. The Intl gene was found in 27 isolates. The gene cassettes contained arr-3, accA4,ctacCI ,catB8, aadA1 or dfrA12 genes. According to the PFGE DNA patterns, 5 distinct clones of armA-pasitive strains were identified. Clone A and Clone B were the dominant clones, widely distributed among different divisions. Condnsions 16S rRNA methylase encoding gene (armA) distributed widely in muhidrug-resistant Acinetobacter spp. The armA gene is not located in class Ⅰintegron. The class Ⅰ integron carries multiple resistant genes associated with aminoglycosides and chloramphenieol resistance.PFGE analysis suggests that armA-pesitive strains are widely spread in our hospitaL Effective infection control measure should be conducted in order to control the outbreak of resistant bacteria.

Objective To sum up the clinical characteristics and the diagnostic and therapeutic principle of severe hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage complicated with gastroparesis. Methods The clinical data of 51 patients with severe hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage complicated with gastroparesis were retrospectively analyzed. Results Of the patients who died,3 died of over-severe hemorrhage, and 1 died of acute respiratory distress syndrome caused by aspiration,as well as one died of respiratory failure resulting from pulmonary infection after aspiration.None died of digestive tract complication.Twenty-one patients(41.18%) needed feeding via naso-intestinal tube.Thirty patients (58.82%) were recovered within two weeks and 14 patients (27.45%) were recovered within the third week, and those who recovered beyond three weeks accounted for 3.92% (n =2).Conclusion The gastroparesis complicating severe hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage is considered as a functional disorder rather than mechanical obstruction. It is mainly on the basis of symptoms and signs in combination with gastroscopy or radiography that the diagnosis can be made. The conservative treatment (including nasal feeding in some patients) should be applied to the disorder.
