Objective Laser induced fluorescence spectroscopy have been used in early diagnosis of GI cancer, but the device is expensive and inconvenient. The purpose of this study was to test the effectiveness and feasibility of a new device designed by the authors. Methods Two formulas were set up based on the analysis of OMA data and a new system was established. Fifteen samples of normal tissue and 40 cases of endoscopic diagnosed cancer were tested. Results (1) First formula: general energy of fluorescence was W 359~659 nm . (2) The second: the ratio of energy integral was W 359~460 nm /W 460~659 nm . (3) The sensitivity and specificity were 93.3% and 100.0% for 15 samples of gastro intestinal cancer in vitro and were 90.0% and 92.5% respectively for gastrointestinal cancer endoscopically. Conclusions (1) The deviec may help doctors to determine the characteristics of lesion in endoscopy and the efficacy of the instrument was the same as OMA system. (2) The cost was about one tenth of that for OMA system.

Objective To investigate the association between prodromal headache and the propensity of rebleeding after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage.Method Prodromal headache was defined as a sudden attack of severe headache lasting at least one hour with or without accompanying symptoms, not leading to a diagnosis of SAH 4 weeks before the confirmation of subarachnoid hemorrhage. Two hundred and nine patients with aneurymal subarachnoid hemorrhage were enrolled in this research.Age,gender,Hunt-Hess grade,D-dimer, (FBG),site and number of aneurysms and prodromal headache were recorded.Patients were divided into rebleeding group and non-rebleeding group.Comparing the above survey components between two groups was carried out by using case control study method.Age,aneurysm number,D-dimer and fibrinogen of the two groups were analyzed by t test.Prodromal headache, gender, site of aneurysms were analyzed by chi square test.Hunt- Hess grade was analyzed by rank test. Results Twenty-two(10.5%)patients had rebleeding. In the rebleeding group,10 patients(45.5%)had prodromal headache, while in the non-rebleeding group(n=187),21 patients (11.2%)had prodromal headache.Patients with prodromal headache had greater propensity of rebleeding compared with those without prodromal headache(P

Objective To analyze the clinical features and causes of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo(BPPV).Methods The clinical data of 521 patients with BPPV were collected. The percentage of patients with BPPV in all the outpatients with dizziness and vertigo, the clinical characteristics of BPPV,and the prevalence of comorbidity with migraine were analyzed. Results BPPV accounted for 35.7% of patients with vertigo and 12.1% of patients with dizziness.Among the 521 patients with BPPV,158(30.3%)were male and 363(69.7%)were female, with an average age of(57.5?12.8)years old(20 to 93 years old).Right semicircular canals were involved in 323 cases(62.0%),and left semicircular canals in 187 cases(35.9%).The latency period of nystagmus of vertical canals was(3.22?2.37)s,and time of persistence was(8.31?7.98)s.The latency period of nystagmus of horizontal canals was(2.33?1.50)s,and the time of persistence was(14.77?11.40)s.There were significant differences in the latency period of nystagmus and time of persistence between the vertical and horizontal canals(P=0.001 and P=0.000).Fifteen patients(2.9%)had a history of head trauma and 39(7.5%)were complicated with migraine. Conclusion BPPV is prevalent in patients with dizziness and vertigo, and misdiagnosis and missed diagnosis should be avoided.

0.05).Some waves(N2,P3,N3) were even absent in children with TS and mental retardation.Statistical analysis indicated that the differences were significant(all P0.05).Conclusion The functional deficit in TS was localized prominently in cerebral cortex and subcortex, and the changes of SEP were almost same marked on both sides.

·AIM:To report a case of entry of antibiotic ointment into the anterior chamber following sutureless clear corneal incisions phacoemulsification.·METHODS:A 62-year-old man had uneventful phaco-emulsification with clear corneal incisions with intraocular lens(IOL) implantation. Postoperative medication included antibiotic/steroid ointment; the eye was firmly patched at the end of the procedure. On the first postoperative day, the patient was seen an oily droplet floating in the anterior chamber. Immediate surgical removal of the ointment without IOL exchange was performed.·RESULTS:During follow-up for six months after irrigation/aspiration of the anterior chamber and removal of the oily droplet, visual acuity and intraocular pressure (IOP) were unchanged and anterior segment was formed and quiet.·CONCLUSION:Ophthalmic ointment may ingress into the anterior chamber through unstable clear corneal incisions. The case highlights the importance of appropriate wound construction and integrity, as well as the risk of tight eye patching following placement of ointment.

0bjective To observe the different brain activation of acupuncture and electroacupuncture on healthy subjects and healthy subjects. Methods The different brain activation involved in heroin addiction between healthy subjects and addicts was detected by fMRI.Acupuncture point used in present study Was Zusanli (ST 36).Results Different brain activations between healthy subjects and addicts during electroacupuncture were hypothalamus(X0,Y2,Z9,t=7.36,P<0.01),anterior cingulate(X5,Y49,Z8,t=4.11,P<0.01),tempo-ral gyrus(X61,Y12,Z8,t=3.05,P<0.01).The difference of activated regions during conventional acupuncture between healthy subjects and heroin addicts was thalamus(X2,Y16,Z12,t=2.87,P<0.01),parahippocampus (X17,Y52,Z3,t=3.14,P<0.01),and hypothalamus(X0,Y2,Z9,t=6.98,P<0.01).Conclusion Regions with significant activation detected by fMRI are different during acupuncture in heroin addicts and in the healthy subjects.Notably, the hypothalamus activation is more robust in the addicts than in the healthy subjects during ac-upuncture stimulation.

GlyoxalaseⅠthat presents in all human tissues detoxifies α-oxoaldehydes and prevents the formation of advanced glycation end products(AGEs).AGEs and their main precursor namely methylglyoxal(MG)produce cytotoxicity and have extensive relationship with diabetic complications. Therefore,to elevate glyoxalaseⅠactivity may be a new path to release such complications.
