Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of the endovascular interventional minimally invasive techniques(IMIT)for treatment of carotid artery iniury. Methods A total of 111 cases of carotid artery injury diagnosed by digital subtraction angiography(DSA)were treated with IMIT.Except for 1 case of extracranial segment injury of internal carotid artery treated with transcatheter stentgraft placement to obturate the rupture of carotid artery, the other 110 cases of intracranial segment injury of internal carotid artery(ICA)were treated with embolization with balloons in 73,embolization with coils in 12,injection of NBCA and PVA in 6,stent-graft placement in 11 and embolization with multiple materials in 8. Results Angiography demonstrated rupture of extracranial segment of internal carotid artery and arteriovenous fistula(AVF)at the neck in 1 case, traumatic carotid cavernous fistula(TCCF)in 83.traumatic pseudoaneurysm at intracranial segment of carotid artery in 14 and both TCCF and pseudoaneurysm in 13.The interventional treatment succeeded in all cases and interual carotid arteries were well protected in 62 cases.Completion angiography documented complete obliteration of the fistulas, with complete disappearance of the clinical symptoms in 110 cases and improvement in 1.Minor complications occurred in 2 cases, without death occurred.During the follow-up for 1-14 months,16 cases reexamined with DSA,which showed that the symptoms of 3 cases reoccurred,2 of whom were cured by re-embolization and 1 was under clinical observation. Conclusions IMIT including transcatheter selective embolization and stent-graft implantation is minimally invasive, safe and effective for treatment of carotid artery injury.

Objective To explore the surgical intervention outcomes of necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC)pa-tients with different extent of the disease. Methods The data of 25 pediatric patients with NEC who were treated with surgical intervention in Shanghai Children′s Hospital from December 201 1 to December 201 5 were retrospectively ana-lyzed.According to the extent of the disease, the patients were divided into 3 groups:focal disease(F),multisegmental disease(M),and pan -involvement(P).The information including operation style, survival rate and time for close osto-my was analyzed. Results There were 1 1 cases with F,8 cases with M,and 6 cases with P.All patients received lapa-rotomy surgery, colostomy,or peritoneal drainage. There were 1 2 patients with very low birth weight,7 patients with low birth weight,6 patients with normal birth weight in this study. There were 1 7 cases with gastrointestinal perforation (9 cases with pneumoperitoneum,8 cases without pneumoperitoneum),8 cases without digestive tract perforation (4 cases without pneumoperitoneum,4 cases with enterostenosis after conservative treatment). In this study, close ostomy was commonly conducted 3 -6 months after the operation, except for 3 cases who received 2 or more times of operation. The survival rate in F group was 1 00.0%(1 1 /1 1 cases),higher than those in the Mgroup with 62.5%(5 /8 cases)and P group with 1 6.7%(1 /6 cases)(χ2 =4.898,1 0.31 2,all P <0.05).However,there was no difference between Mgroup and P group (χ2 =1 .367,P >0.05).Conclusions The extent of disease is correlated to the outcomes of surgical in-tervention,as F had a better outcome than Mand P.Low birth weight is a risk factor for NEC.Protecting the edge of the bowel is a key factor to ensure the survival and improve the quality of life of NEC patients.Close ostomy should be con-sidered when the patients are in a stable condition (liver function and intestinal function recovery, good nutrition condi-tion,etc),and under special circumstances to conduct early or delayed closure of fistula.

BACKGROUND:With the extensive application of anterior titanium plate, postoperative complications such as dysphagia, titanium loose, screw exit and disc degeneration of neighboring segments induced more and more attention of researchers. However, the application of anterior cervical cage is expected to avoid these complications. <br> OBJECTIVE:To observe primary curative effect of anterior cervical cage ROI-C in anterior cervical spine surgery. <br> METHODS:A total of 32 patients with cervical spondylosis were treated with anterior cervical cage ROI-C in the Wuxi Ninth Hospital Affiliated to Soochow University from April to December 2013. The cage was implanted to promote interbody fusion. Of 32 cases, 23 cases affected cervical spondylotic myelopathy, 2 cases affected nerve root type cervical spondylosis, 3 cases affected cervical hyperextension injury, 1 case affected cervical disc herniation, 2 cases affected cervical instability and 1 case affected segmental cervical ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament. Japanese Orthopaedic Association and NDI scores were determined to assess neurological symptoms and functional improvement before internal fixation and during final fol ow-up. Simultaneously, adverse reactions were recorded. <br> RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:A total of 32 patients finished the regular fol ow-up for 4 to 8 months. Clinical symptoms and spinal cord function of al patients were obviously improved. No ROI-C loosing or displacement or secondary surgery was found. The average fusion time was 4.2 months (3 to 5 months). Mean score of Japanese Orthopaedic Association was increased from 9.2 points pre-surgery to 13.8 points post-surgery. Japanese Orthopaedic Association and NDI scores were higher during final fol ow-up than before fixation (P<0.05). These data indicated that ROI-C effectively restored intervertebral height in anterior cervical spine surgery, stably reconstructed cervical vertebra, obtained interbody fusion, effectively avoided related surgical complications induced by plate implantation, improved neurological symptoms and function, and showed good short-term effects.

A pilot-scale research on purification of odorous gas emitted from wastewater treatment plant using a biofilter was conducted. The aim of this study is to check on the performance of biofilter running in various conditions and the effect of pH fluctuations on the performance of biofilter. The relation between distribution of microorganism and removal of odorous gases were also discussed here. The experimental results show that the predominant odor-causing gas can be efficiently eliminated by a biofilter inoculated with deodoring microorganism which were isolated previously. Moreover the biofilter had been proved having good tolerance to shocking loads of pollutant and can operate well in the condition of low pH.
