Aim The effect of polysaccharide of spirulina on mouse myelosuppression induced by cyclophosphamide was studied. Methods Mice in the model, treatment groups Ⅰ and Ⅱ were given cyclophosphamide(ip 100 mg · kg- 1) for there days. At the same time mice in the treatment groups Ⅰ and Ⅱ were given ig spirulin 30 mg · kg-1 and 60 mg · kg-1 for ten days, while mice in the control group and model group were given ip 20 mg · kg-1 of NS. Peripheral blood and marrow cytometry, micromcelsus and chromosome aberration were analyed. Results In the dosages of 30 and 60 mg · kg-1 polysaccharide of spirulina, the polysaccharide of spirulina had perfect action on the perihemateikon and the function of bone hematoplast induced by cyclophosphamide(P <0.01) and antagonistic action on increase of bone cell micronuclsus(P<0.05); The ratio of chromosome aberration in the treated group was lower compared with that in the model group. The inhibitory ratio was 51.2% and 62.5% in the treated groups Ⅰ and Ⅱ .Conclusion Polysaccharide of spirulina can perfect the hematoplast function of mice injured by cyclophosphamide.

Microbiology 1992;0(03):-
Twelve anaerobic fungal strains isolated from rumen and faeces of ruminants were screened for xylanase prodution. Isolate A4 strain identified as Neocallimastix had the highest xylanase activity among all isolates. With rice straw, corn straw , peanut straw and filter paper as fermentation substrates, the activities of xylanase by A4 were14.31 U/mL, 11.39 U/mL, 6.99 U/mL, 13.38 U/mL, respectively. The effect of cell-free rumen fluid and yeast extract on xylanase production was tested. The results showed that the concentration level of cell-free rumen fluid had no significant effect on xylanase production. However as yeast extract concentration decreased from 1.0 g/L to 0,5 g/L , the enzyme activity decreased significantly ( P

Objective To explore the feasibility, advantages and disadvantages of combined trans- gastric and transcolonic routes for NOTES.Methods A female swine was used in this study.Transgastric entrance was the first, followed by transeolonie entrance.A dual-channel endoscope was inserted through the porcine mouth into the gastric cavity and penetrated into the peritoneal cavity through the puncture and bal- loon dilatation of the gastric wall. Then under direct visualization through the transgastric approach, the other endoseope was advanced into the peritoneum.Using the two endoscopes inside the peritoneal cavity,collabo- rative peritoneoseopy was performed by the two endoscopists. After the examination the incisions in the stom- ach and the colon wall were closed with Endoclips. The animal was sacrificed for post-mortem examination with particular attention to the entrance sites and presence of any complications related to the access or to ma- nipulations inside the peritoneal cavity. Results No hemorrhage oecurred during the puneture and balloon dilatation or bow-knife cutting of the gastric wall or the eolonic wall. The liver was damaged while a needle knife penetrated the gastric wall.On the contrary,no organs were damaged during the needle knife penetra- ted the eolonic wall under direet visualization through the transgastric approach. It was difficult to find the gallbladder or the oviduct with a"single arm",but it was easy to see them with the double routes. It was easier to close the colonic incision than to close the gastrie wall with Endoclips. Conclusion Combined transgastric and transcolonic route for NOTES is feasible and it seems to be easier to show a target compared with a single route.

Objective To investigate the protective effects of recombinant human erythropoietin (rHuEPO) on caecal ligation and puncture (CLP)-induced acute kidney injury (AKI).Methods A total of 260 healthy male Sprague-Dawley rats (250-300 g) were randomly divided into 6 groups:normal control group, sham group,CLP model group, the large dose rHuEPO (5000 U/kg)group,the middle dose rHuEPO (1000 U/kg) group, and the small dose rHuEPO (500 U/kg) group. The rat models of sepsis were established by CLP.In treatment groups, rats were treated with rHuEPO through caudalis injection after CLP surgery. Each group was divided into 2-,6-,12-,24-,36-hour subgroups with 10 rats.Rats were sacrificed and the tissue samples including kidney and blood samples were collected. The kidney function, plasma cytokines [interleukin 6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α)],kidney injury moleclue 1 (KIM-1) and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS)were measured.Cytokines were determined by ELISA method. The expression of nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-κB) protein in kidneys were detected by immnunohistochemistry method.Pathological changes of kidney tissues were observed by light and transmission electron microscopy for cytokine content and apoptosis. Results Compared with CLP model group, renal function, the levels of TNF-α,IL-6,KIM-1 and iNOS in serum, the expression of NF-κB,significantly decresed in large dose rHuEPO group (all P < 0.05).rHuEPO also lessened the histological changes in large dose group.rHuEPO did not lessen the histological changes in others. Conclusion rHuEPO can inhibit the levels of TNF-α,IL-6 and iNOS in serum, thus modify the inflammatory response and provide protective effects against acute kidney injury induced by sepsis.

Objective To assess retinal arteriole stenosis in cerebral autosomal dominant arteriopathy with subcortical infarcts and leukoencephalopathy (CADASIL) and to evaluate the relationship between retinal arteriole stenosis with cranial MRI changes and clinical features. Methods Sixteen CADASIL patients (mean age was (43.4±8.1)years, mean duration was(4.7±3.4)years)and sixteen age matched healthy individuals were enrolled. Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) and modified Rankin scale scoring were performed in 16 patients. Cranial MRl with Coulthard scores was assessed on CADASIL patients as well. Retinal examinations for arteriole stenosis were done for each subject. Bivariate correlations (Kendall's tau-b) were used to assess the relationship among the grade of retinal stenosis, MMSE, modified Rankin seale, cranial MRI with Coulthard scores and age. Results Retinal arteriole stenosis presented in 15 cases. in whom 4 cases showed mild arterio-venous nicking. while it only presented in 2 controls. Grade 0.Ⅰ, and Ⅲ of retinal arteriole stenosis are noted in 1/16,4/16,7/16 and 4/16cases respectively. Coulthard scores of cerebral MRl were 6.0.19.0.25.1 and 29.8 respectively from Grade 0 toⅢ of retinal arteriole stenosis. The correlation coefficient of retinal arteriole stenosis and cranial MRI scores was 0.743(P<0.001=,MMSE-0.429(P<0.05=,modified Rankin scale 0.437(P>0.05).and age 0.299(P>0.05).Conclusion Retinal arteriole stenosis is significantly correlated with lesion in cranial MRI and dementia.

Biological characteristic of Salvia miltiorrhiza f. alba in field was studied. HPLC method was used to determine the lipophilic constituents (dihydrotanshinone, cryptotanshinone, tanshinone, tanshinone II (A) and miltione) and hydrophilic constituents (salvianolic acid, rosemarinic acid). The results showed that the fresh weight of S. miltiorrhiza f. alba which cropped for 2 years was decreased by 80.47%, while dry weight decreased by 79.42%. The normal diameter of the root was 0.3-0.5 cm, however, the diameter was 0.2-0.4 cm after 2 years, it was said that the decrease of the root diameter was the main reason for the decrease of the yield. The average contents of dihydrotanshinone, cryptotanshinone, tanshinone, tanshinone II (A), miltione, salvianolic acid and rosemarinic acid were decreased by 35.26%, 32.26%, 19.35%, 3.39%, 64.40%, 66.93% in plant which continuously cropped for 2 years, respectively. The yield and active constituents were mostly effected in the plant of S. miltiorrhiza f. alba, which continuously cropped for 2 years.

OBJECTIVETo explore the features of rats organs functional changes after femur shaft fracture combined with brain injury through testing biochemical indicators in rats.
METHODSThirty 4-month-old male SD rats, weight (280 +/- 10) g, were divided into 5 groups according to random number table involving normal control group, at the 1st day of injured group, the 2nd day injured group, the 3rd day injured group, the 5th day injured group, the 7th day injured group, 5 rats in each group. The animal injury model of right femur shaft fracture combined with brain injury were made by instruments in 5 injured groups. At the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 7th day after made model, the biochemical indicators of blood serum from abdominal aorta including AST, ALT ,Cr, BUN, LDH and CK were detected and compared.
RESULTSThe biochemical indicator of blood serum (AST, ALT, Cr, BUN, LDH, CK) changed significantly among different groups. AST, ALT, BUN and CK reached peaks at the 1st day after injured (P<0.05). Cr reached peaks at the 3rd day after injured (P<0.05). LDH reached peak at the 2nd day after injured (P<0.05).
CONCLUSIONAfter brain injury combined with right femoral fractures in rats, a variety of serum biochemical indicators increase significantly, especially in early 3 days after injured. These indicators shows indirectly heart, liver and kidney organ dysfunction by trauma.
