1.Effects of electroacupuncture plus drug anesthesia on pain and stress response in patients after radical surgery for stomach cancer

Objective: To observe the effect of electroacupuncture plus drug anesthesia on pain and stress response in patients after radical surgery for stomach cancer.Methods: A total of 60 patients were randomized into a control group and an observation group by the random number table, with 30 cases in each group. The control group was given conventional drug anesthesia. The observation group was given additional electroacupuncture intervention. Before anesthesia and 2 h, 12 h and 24 h after surgery, the visual analog scale (VAS) was scored, the heart rate, the mean arterial pressure, and the levels of serum β-endorphin (β-EP) and adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH) were measured. Results: Two hours, 12 h and 24 h after surgery, the VAS scores of both groups were higher than those before anesthesia (all P<0.05), and the VAS scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group at the same time points (all P<0.05). Two hours, 12 h and 24 h after surgery, the heart rates and mean arterial pressures in the control group were significantly higher than those before anesthesia (all P<0.05), while there were no significant intra-group differences in the observation group (all P>0.05), and the indicators were lower than those in the control group at the same time points (all P<0.05). Two hours, 12 h and 24 h after surgery, the serum β-EP levels in the observation group were significantly higher than those before anesthesia (all P<0.05), and significantly higher than those in the control group at the same time points (all P<0.05). Two hours, 12 h and 24 h after surgery, the serum ACTH levels in the control group were significantly higher than those before anesthesia (all P<0.05), and were significantly higher than those in the observation group at the same time points (all P<0.05). Conclusion: Electroacupuncture plus drug anesthesia can significantly relieve pain and stress response in patients after radical surgery for stomach cancer.

Objective To observe and analyze the MRI manifestations of Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome(KTS).Methods Thirty-one cases with diagnosed KTS underwent MRI on a 1.5 T MR system. MRI,MR venography(MRV),MR angiography(MRA)and X-ray venography(XRV)were performed.The pathological changes of the limbs and their veins were observed.Results MRI found soft tissue hemangiomas in 12 cases,soft tissue swelling of the extremities in 27 cases,superficial varicosities in 21 cases,and malformation of the veins in 27 cases.In twenty patients who underwent both MRV and XRV, superficial varicosities in 17 cases and persistent sciatic veins in 11 cases were found with both techniques. The increase of tributary veins was found in 10 cases with XRV,while found in 15 cases with MRV.The erratic venous course was found in 4 cases with MRV.The abnormalities of deep veins were found in 8 cases with MRV,while found in 7 cases with XRV.Conclusion MRI is an efficient and reliable imaging method for diagnosis of KTS.
4.Impact of hemocoagulase on coagulatory function and deep venous thrombosis after abdominal surgery.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the impact of hemocoagulase on coagulatory function and deep venous thrombosis after abdominal surgery.
METHODSFrom June 2008 to January 2009, 60 cases (gastric cancer 20 cases, colonic cancer 40 cases) undergoing gastrointestinal surgery at the Union Hospital of Fujian Medical University were randomized to the hemocoagulase group and the control group(n=30 in each group). Intravenous hemocoagulase at a daily dose of 2U was used on the same day and the next day postoperatively in the hemocoagulase group. D-dimer(D-D), tissue plasminogen activator(t-PA), plasminogen activator inhibitor-1(PAI-1), PT, APTT, TT, platelet count were measured before and after operation. Doppler ultrasound examination was carried out to exclude deep venous thrombosis on the 5th to 7th days after operation.
RESULTSSignificant increased D-D, t-PA, PAI-1, prolonged PT, APTT, shortened TT and lower platelet count after surgery were noticed as compared to the baseline in both groups(P<0.05, P<0.01). PT, APTT, D-D, t-PA, and PAI-1 significantly increased, and TT significantly shortened in the hemocoagulase group as compared to the control group after surgery(P<0.05, P<0.01). Deep venous thrombosis in the left lower limbs was noticed in 7 patients(23.3%) in the hemocoagulase group and 3 cases(10.0%) in the control group, however the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).
CONCLUSIONSHypercoagulable state usually appears after abdominal surgery and use of hemocoagulase may aggravate hypercoagulability and increase the incidence of deep venous thrombosis in lower limbs after abdominal surgery. Preventative use of hemocoagulase must be administered with caution.

5.1H NMR based metabolomics study of bu-zhong-yi-qi-tang in the spleen-qi deficiency rat model.

The present study aimed to investigate the effect and the mechanisms of Bu-zhong-yi-qi-tang (BZYQ) on Spleen-Qi deficiency rat's model using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) metabolomics and multivariate statistical analysis methods. The rat Spleen-Qi deficiency model was established as follows: oral administration of Radix Rhei extract, loaded swimming and starvation for 24 h. The body weight and motor behavior of the rats were measured and recorded once a week. BZYQ could significantly improve body weight and behavioral of Spleen-Qi deficiency model rats compared with the model group (P < 0.05, 0.01). After drug administration, the changes in the levels of endogenous metabolites in the spleen including decreasing lactate, taurine and hypoxanthine, increasing glutamate and scyllo-inositol compared with the model group. The metabolomics approach is an effective tool for the investigation of the pharmacologic mechanism of BZYQ and it is helpful to further research.

6.Progress in the research of insulin-like growth factor family in lung cancer

Insulin-like growth factors (IGF), regulated by their receptors and binding proteins, play a pivotal role in human cell proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis. Increasing evidence has revealed that IGF system is involved in the genesis and progress of various malignancies including lung cancer. Recent studies in regard to IGF axis expression in the lung cancer cell lines, pulmonary tissue samples and blood circulation of lung cancer patients have shown that the IGF axis may contribute to the transformation and progression of lung cancer. Several researches have shown that a number of drugs targeting the IGF receptor are being investigated in clinical trials and suggest a potential therapeutic efficacy. This article reviews the updates and progress in the research of IGF axis in lung cancer.
7.Surveillance of bacterial resistance in Tongling People′s Hospital during 2013

Objective To investigate the antimicrobial resistance of clinical isolates in Tongling People′s Hospital during 2013. Methods A total of 2 281 nonduplicate clinical isolates were collected.Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion method was employed to study the antimicrobial susceptibility.The data were analyzed with WHONET 5.6 software according to CLSI 2012 breakpoints. Results The top 5 most frequently isolated microorganisms were E.coli (479,21.0%),K.pneumoniae (360,15.8%),A. baumannii (271,11.9%),P .aeruginosa (240,10.5%),S.aureus (171,7.5%).Gram negative and gram positive microorganisms accounted for 76.5% and 23.5%,respectively.The prevalence of methicillin-resistant strains in S.aureus (MRSA)and coagulase negative Staphylococcus (MRCNS)was 38.6% and 73.1%,respectively.The resistance rates of MR strains to beta-lactams and other antimicrobial agents were much higher than those of MS strains.No staphylococcal strain was found resistant to vancomycin or teicoplanin.E.faecalis showed relatively lower resistance to penicillin,ampicillin and nitrofurantoin.E.faecium strains were more resistant than E.faecalis to most of the antibiotics tested.Approximately 50.5% of E.coli and 44.5% of Klebsiella isolates produced extended-spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBLs).The ESBLs-respectively.And 29.8% and 23.4% of the P .aeruginosa strains were resistant to imipenem and meropenem.Nearly all (94.0%)P .aeruginosa isolates were susceptible to amikacin.Conclusions There appears a trend of increasing resistance in the clinical bacterial isolates in this hospital,especially the carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae,which is of great concern.It is mandatory to take effective antibiotic policy and infection control measures.

9.Observation on clinical therapeutic effect of acupuncture on apoplectic pseudobulbar palsy.

OBJECTIVETo find a clinically effective therapy for apoplectic pseudobulbar palsy.
METHODSSeventy-five cases of apoplectic pseudobulbar palsy were randomly divided into 3 groups, acupuncture group, western medicine group and acupuncture plus medicine group. They were treated for one month.
RESULTSThe scores for clinical symptoms and signs, and the clinical scores for water provocative test in the acupuncture plus medicine group and the acupuncture group were superior to that in the western medicine group with significant difference (P < 0.01), and the therapeutic effects of the 3 groups were related with age, course of disease and condition of illness.
CONCLUSIONAcupuncture has some predominances in treatment of apoplectic pseudobulbar palsy.
