We reviewed medical data of 22 patients receiving intravenous thrombolysis therapy for acute isehemic stroke and evaluated our efforts of promoting intravenous thrombolysis for acute ischemic stroke. The mean in-hospital delay was 107 minutes. The most common reason was waiting for the results of laboratory tests.Only 6 cases received a standard dose of recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rtPA) at 0.9 mg/kg.Only one patient had asymptomatic intracranial hemorrhage. No symptomatic hemorrhage occurred.Intravenous thrombolysis for ischemic stroke had excellent safety profile.Intravenous thrombolysis for ischemic stroke should be promoted under the guidance of standardized protocol according to the national guideline.

Objective To study the clinical efficacy of intra-operative implantation of I125 seeds to treat advanced pancreatic cancer. Methods We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 28 patients who underwent intra-operative implantation of I125 between January 2009 and June 2010 to treat advanced pancreatic cancer.Patients who received conservative treatment (n =136) at the same period were used as the control group. Results The mean tumor diameter was (5.7 ± 1.7) cm.The average number of implanted seeds were 50.There were no patients who suffered from pancreatic fistula or post-operative bleeding, and no patient died from the treatment.Twenty-five patients were regularly followed up,and the follow-up rate was 85.7%.The survival rates at one month, half a year and one year were 100%,70.8% and 26.9%,respectively.The average survival time was (9.9 ± 1.4) months. The survival data were significantly higher than that in the control group. Conclusion Intra-operative implantation of I125 seeds was an efficacious treatment for patients with advanced pancreatic cancer.

Bulletin of The Academy of Military Medical Sciences 2009;33(6):583-585
Proteomics, which has been widely used in life science, is an emerging discipline following genomics. It can help to explore the pathogenic mechanism and early onset marker of Bacillus anthracis, playing an important part in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of B.anthracis. In this paper, the application of proteomics in the research of B.anthracis is reviewed.

OBJECTIVETo observe the effect of combination of Syndrome Differentiation (SD) depending treatment and chemotherapy on prognostic factors in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
METHODSOne hundred and twenty patients with NSCLC were randomly divided into the TCM group, the western medicine (WM) group and the combined TCM and WM (TCM-WM) group. Besides the conventional supporting and symptomatic treatment given to all the 3 groups, to the TCM group, Chinese drug medication according to patients' SD (intravenons injection, decoction or Xiaoji Decoction) was given, to the WM group chemorherapy was given, and to the TCM-WM group, all the treatment used in both TCM and WM group were given. The long-term efficacy was analyzed by Kaplan-Meier method, the 24 prognostic factors that influencing survival rate were analyzed by COX regression model multiple factors analysis to screen the risk factor and protective factor.
RESULTSThe median survival period in the TCM group was 285.00 +/- 17.92 days, in the WM group was 265.00 +/- 1.80 days, insignificant difference was found between them (P > 0.05), that in the TCM-WM group was 359.00 +/- 7.00 days, which was longer than that in the above two groups with significance (P < 0.05). The half-year and 1-year survival rates in the TCM group were 84.4% and 18.1%, in the WM group 82.5% and 20.6%, and in the TCM-WM group 92.5% and 42.7%. The 1-year survival rate in the TCM-WM group was higher than that in the TCM and WM group with significant difference (P < 0.05). Analysis on 24 prognostic factors indicated that there was significant difference (P < 0.05) in influence of such factors on survival rate as clinical stage, lymph node invasion, complications, TCM Syndrome typing, lactate dehydrogenase, carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), CA199, Karnofsky scoring before treatment, therapeutic method, total scores of quality of life, stability of treatment, CD3+, etc. The former seven were the risk factors for prognosis of midlate NSCLC patients, and the latter 5 the protective factors.
CONCLUSIONTCM-WM treatment could prolong patients' survival period, elevate the long-term survival rate, it could be taken as one of the best comprehensive therapies for mid-late NSCLC patients who have missed the opportunity of surgical resection.

This study was conducted to investigate the wild and cultivated resource situation of Rheum tanguticum in main production area of China, estimate its reserves, and put forward the feasible approach for the sustainable utilization of R. tanguticum. On the basis of the literature data about R. tanguticum, conbined with interview, investigation and sampling investigation, the total reserve of resources is estimated using the route-quadrat method and the vegetation and soil-type map area method proposed by our research group. The results indicate that there is no obvious change between the present distribution ranges of the wild R. tanguticum and its historical records, but its population density has changed clearly. The reserve of the wild R. tanguticum has seriously declined in lots of place, even faced the exhaustion in some regions. According to the investigation, the resource reserve of the wild R. tanguticum is no more than 5 000 t, and the cultivated is about 1 607 t. The resource reserve of the wild R. tanguticum is nearly depleted, and this suggests that the wild R. tanguticum should be enrolled in the protection plant list, and the cultivated will become the main resource of Rhubarb in the future. So it is extremely neccessary to collect and protect the germplasm resource of R. tanguticum, establish the germplasm nursery and repository, and conduct breeding research on those bases.

Chinese Journal of Hepatology 2011;19(5):349-351
OBJECTIVETo find out clinical characteristics and natural history of post transfusion HCV infection.
METHODS83 subjects who have received the blood from a same blood donor from January 1998 to July 2002 were investigated by the method combining cross-sectional study with retrospective study. HCV-antibody, HCV RNA, liver function, abdomen B-ultrasound and Fibroscan were detected.
RESULTSThe HCV-antibody were all positive. The HCV RNA of 56 out of the 83 cases were positive. The chronicity rates of hepatis C were 76.3% (29/38) in male patients and 60.00% (27/45) in female patients respectively, without significant difference (X² = 2.99, P = 0.11). The average age of the HCV RNA positive patients was (36.54 ± 14.37) years old. The average age of the HCV RNA negative patients was (27.43 ± 12.51) years old. A significant difference (T = -2.41, P = 0.018) existed between. The HCV genotype was type1b. Among the HCV RNA positive patients,10 cases were with mild asthenia, anorexia and abdominal distention, 9 cases with increased serum ALT, 12 cases.with chronic hepatitis and 1 case was diagnosed with decompensated liver cirrhosis.
CONCLUSIONThe clinical manifestations of HCV infection are occult and chronic. The chronicity rate is related to gender and the age when infection was caught.

To separate and identify chemical signals which induce Thesium chinense haustorium formation, the components of T. chinense roots secretion collected with XAD-4 resin were detected by GC-MS. The effect of DMBQ as exogenous signals to induce haustorium formation in T. chinense was studied. Fifty-three compounds of 9 types had been detected, including hydrocarbons, esters, organic acids, ketones, alcohols, nitrogen containing compounds, phenolic acids, aldehyde and quinine. It is worth noting that the 2, 5-di-tert-butyl-1,4-benzoquinone has the core structure of 1,4-benzoquinone, which may play an important role in the parasitic relationship of Prunella vulgaris and T. chinense: DMBQ worked effectively on inducing haustoria, but induction effects vary widely in different concentrations. DMBQ with the concentration of 1 μmol x L(-1) showed the best effect of the inducing ability with a ratio of 110.52 when treated to induce haustoria.
