AIM: To study the quality standard of Compound Shencha Granuls (Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae, Radix Rehmanniae, etc.). METHODS: Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae and Rhizoma et Radix Polygoni Cuspidati in Compound Shencha Granule were distinguished by TLC. Ursolic acid was determinated by TLCS. RESULTS: The methods of TLC to distinguish Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae and Rhizoma Polygoni Cuspidati were feasible without negative inference. Ursolic acid content in three groups of samples was 1.24 - 1.58 mg?g -1 . CONCLUSION: The method is accurate and reproducible. It can be used for the quality control of Compound Shencha Granule.

Objective To investigate the microsurgical treatment of subdural extramedullary tumors in ventral spinal. Methods Retrospectively analyzed 16 cases of subdural extramedullary tumors in ventral spinal which resected by microsurgical technique from January 2000 to December 2013.By summarized the tumor character, location, extent of resection and rehef of symptoms. Results All of 16 cases were successfully resected,in which 14 cases completely resected,2 cases mostly resected.A higher response rate of local symptoms and neurological symptoms obtained postoperatively,2 patients got worse sensory disorders, movement disorder compared with preoperative, cerebrospinal fluid leakage occured in 1 patient. Conclusion Resection of the subdural extramedullary tumors in ventral spinal with microsurgical technique has the advantage of more clearly anatomical level, minimal tissue injury of spinal cord and surrounding tissue, higher tumor removal rate.

Objective To investigate the effect of baseline Left-ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) on the cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT). Methods A retrospective analysis of patients with heart failure was performed. Fifty-four patients [aged (59.73 ± 11.61)years, 31 males, 23 females] who underwent CRT/CRTD were divided into 2 groups according to LVEF ( group A, LVEF≤ 35%; group B, LVEF > 35% ). NYHA class, LVEF,CRT respond rates and medical adverse event (MAE) due to worsening heart failure were detected at 3 and 12 months post-surgery. Results The score of NYHA class changing wasn′t different between these two group. Compared to group B, LVEF was markedly increased (5.08 ± 2.81)% vs (2.45 ± 1.80)%, P < 0.05;(5.38 ± 2.92)% vs (2.39 ± 3.53)%, P < 0.05)at 3 and 12 months post-surgery. Similarly, group A owned high CRT response rates(66.1% vs 33.9%, P < 0.05; 81.25% vs 47.83%, P < 0.05) at the both two time points. At 12 months post-surgery , LVED decreased and the MAE was similar in all groups. Conclusion Patients with EF≤ 35% have more increases in LVEF and own high CRT response rates post-CRT.

Objective To investigate influencing factors of perioperative myocardial injury in patients undergone percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Methods Ninty one patients with coronary heart disease (including stable angina and unstable angina) underwent PCI, the perioperative myocardial injury incidence were observed prospectively by monitoring the preoperative and postoperative high sensitivity troponin protein levels to investigate the influencing factors of perioperative myocardial injury by Logistic regression analysis. Results There were no statistically significance in perioperative myocardial injury incidence (62.5%vs 68.7%, P=0.618) and perioperative myocardial infarction incidence (29.2%vs 20.9%, P=0.411) between stable angina and unstable angina groups . These factors of perioperative myocardial injury in patients undergone PCI by Logistic regression analysis were analysed, and we found that the influencing factors were the application loading dose rosuvastatin before PCI, preoperative statin therapy more than one month, apolipoprotein A levels and total stent length. Conclusion Application loading dose of rosuvastatin before PCI, preoperative statin therapy more than one month, apolipoprotein A levels are related to perioperative myocardial injury reduction, whereas the total length of the stent is associated with an increased occurrence of perioperative myocardial injury.

ObjectiveTo find out the electroencephalogram(EEG)change of the children with language retardation.MethodsThe EEG change and prognosis of 78 cases of language retardation children were analysed and compared with normal ones.ResultsThe EEG abnormal rate of language retardation was 69.3%,while that of the normal children was 10%(P<0.001).Conclusions The EEG is helpful to understand the developmental status of brain functions.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of levetiracetam (LEV) monotherapy on children with epilepsy. Methods Forty-one children (26 cases were male,15 cases were female) with epilepsy aged 7 months to 13 years were treated with LEV as monotherapy. These patients were selected from Department of Neurology ,Wuhan Children′s Hospital, from Aug.2007 to Aug.2009.The starting do-sage of LEV was (13.6?4.7) mg?kg-1?d-1,twice daily, and its objective dosage was (25.7?7.5) mg?kg-1?d-1,twice daily.LEV monotherapy was investigated by a self-controlled and open-label research, and the follow-up period ranged from 6 months to 2 years. Results The effective rate was 68.3% (28 cases),with 39.0% (16 cases) achieving seizure freedom in LEV monotherapy of children with epilepsy.Thirteen patients (31.7%) had poor efficacy in reduction of seizures,7 patients (17.1%) discontinued LEV monotherapy due to either an inadequate seizure control or aggravated seizures.Fifteen patients (36.6%) had the therapy-related adverse events in LEV monotherapy, including gastrointestinal dysfunction (5 cases),irritability (5 cases),dizziness (2 cases) and somnolence (2 cases). The adverse effects appeared in 2-4 weeks of early LEV therapy and were spontaneously disappeared in 1 week to 1 month of continuing therapy. Conclusions The LEV monotherapy is effective and safe for the control of partial and generalized seizures in children with epilepsy.LEV appears to be a broad-spectrum,first-line anti-epileptic drug in treatment of children with epilepsy.

Objective To summarize the coronary artery pattem of arterial switch operation(ASO),operative skill and surgical results. Methods Between October 1999 to October 2005,102 patients underwent arterial switch operation. The mean age was(8? 16)months ranged from 3 days to 7 years. The mean body weight was(5.9?3.2)kg,ranged from 2.5 kg to 20.0 kg.Most com- monly(74/102),the aorta was more or less to the right of the pulmonary artery. In 10 patients, the aorta was directly anterior to the pulmonary artery, and in 11 patients, the aorta was to the left of the pulmonary artery. The great arteries were side by side in 7 pa- tients. We used Leiden classification for coronary artery pattern by operative descriptions. The most prevalent coronary pattern [1LCx2R]was found in 69(67.6%),abnormal coronary artery pattern in 33(32.3%).Intramural course of coronary artery was fotmd In three patients. The Leeampte maneuver was used in all cases. In most patients, the "open trap door" or "bay window" tech- nique for coronary osfia transfer. Results Total mortality rate was 14.7 %(15 eases),6 cases(8.7 %)with normal coronary pattem and 9(27.3%)deaths 33 patients with abnormal coronary pattern.3 cases with coronary event occurred in 5 deaths of simple rIGA, 4 cases with coronary event in 6 deaths of complex TGA and 3 eases with coronary event in 4 deaths of Taussing-Bing anomaly.Con- clusion Complex coronary artery anatomy increases the operative risk. With experience or improving surgical technique,we may get better results.
