OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effect of thymosin α1 combined with chemotherapy on immune function in patients with advanced gastric cancer and quality of life. METHODS:90 patients with advanced gastric cancer were randomly divided into observation group and control group with 45 cases in each group. Control group was treated with FOLFOX4 chemotherapy plan(so-dium oxaliplatin+calcium folinate+fluorouracil),and observation group was additionally treated with thymosin α1 1.5 mg subcutane-ously,once a day,on the basis of control group. A treatment course lasted for 3 weeks,and both received 3 courses of treatment. The immune function and quality of life were evaluated in 2 groups. RESULTS:The effective rate of observation group was 57.8%,and that of control group was 53.3%;there was no significant difference between 2 groups (P>0.05). The incidence of leukopenia in observation group was 24.4%,which was significantly lower than control group (55.6%),with statistical signifi-cance(P<0.05). There was no statistical significance in CD4+,CD8+ and NK score between 2 groups before chemotherapy(P>0.05). After treatment,above index of observation were all higher than those of control group,with statistical significance (P<0.05). The total health QLQ-C30 EORTC score in observation group was higher than in control group after chemotherapy,with sta-tistical significance(P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS:Thymosin α1 combined with chemotherapy can significantly improve the immune function and quality of life.

OBJECTIVETo establish a RP-HPLC-PDA method for determination of five triterpenic acids (pomolic acid, hawthorn acid, corosolic acid, oleanolic acid and ursolic acid) in different parts of Salvia chinensis.

METHODThe isocratic elution and separation was achieved on a Kromasil C18 column (4.6 mm x 250 mm, 5 microm), using acetonitrile-water (90:10) as the mobile phase at a flow rate of 0.8 mL x min(-1). The detection wavelength and column temperature were set at 205 nm and 28 degrees C, respectively.

RESULTThe calibration curves of pomolic acid, hawthorn acid, corosolic acid, oleanolic acid and ursolic acid were linear over the ranges of 0.096 0-2.400, 0.1230-3.075, 0.2420-6.050, 0.2830-7.075 and 0.2730-6.825 microg (r = 0.9998, 0.9997, 0.9999, 0.9995, 0.9999), respectively. The average recoveries were 98.43%, 98.13%, 100.6%, 98.19% and 99.15%%, respectively, with RSD (n=6) being 1.3%, 0.67%, 1.2%, 0.87% and 0.43%.

CONCLUSIONThe proposed method is so simple and highly reproducible that it promises to be applicable for determination of major triterpenic acids in S. chinensis.

With the progress of human civilization,the harmonious development of society is gradually realized by different researchers.Medicine,as a science directly serving humans,emphasizes more on humanism than other sciences.Medical research is not only characterized by scientificity and innovativeness,but also by ethicality.More and more biomedical journals are paying attention to issues of ethics.This review discussed the ethical issues in academic medical writing based on the Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals published by International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the discussions by Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

[Objective]To analyze the causes of anterior knee pain after intramedullary(IM) nailing treatment of tibial shaft fractures.[Method]A total of 256 patients with tibial shaft fractures were treated with intramedullary nailing from 2000 to 2007 in our hospital.There were 183 males and 73 females with a mean age of 45 years.All patients were followed up at least once after fracture healing.[Result]Among 256 patients,166 experienced anterior knee pain,accounting for 65%.Ninety-six(58%) treated with transtendinous nailing complained of and 70(42%) treated with paratendinous nailing complained of anterior knee pain.It was worsened after activity but relieved only in 33(20%) by resting or taking analgesic drugs.The anterior knee pain disappeared one year after the IM nailing was taken out.[Conclusion]Anterior knee pain can not be reduced by different approaches of operation for tibial shaft fractures.However,the removal of intramedullary nailing and the muscle exercises around the knee joint can reduce the occurrence of anterior knee pain.

目的探讨急性心肌梗死(AMI)患者实施早期康复护理的效果。方法对86例AMI患者根据住院日期分为对照组和实验组,分别采用传统护理方式和早期康复护理方案实施护理,并进行效果比较。结果两组在心功能、心绞痛、心理状态、并发症、平均步行距离、住院时间等方面均有显著性差异(P<0.05或P<0.01)。结论实施早期康复护理效果优于传统护理方法。

AIM　The purpose is to examine the chemical constituents in the fruits of Terminalia chebula. METHODS　Using combined chromatographies over silica gel, Diaion HP-20, Toyopearl HW-40 and MCI gel CHP -20P to purify the constituents of Terminalia chebula, and identifying their structures on the basis of spectroscopic and chemical evidence were purified. RESULTS　Twenty one hydrolyzable tannins and related polyphenols were characterized, here reports eight of them: 2,3-(S)-HHDP-D-glucose, 3,6-di-O-galloyl-D-glucose, 6-O-galloyl-D-glucose, (-)-shikimide 4-O-gallate, (-)-shikimic acid 3-O-gallate+(-)-shikimic acid 5-O-gallate, methyl gallate and 1,2,6-tri-O-galloyl-β-D-glucose were reported. CONCLUSION　The above eight polyphenols were obtained from myrobalans for the first time.

Background Congenital cataract is an important cause of blindness and amblyopia in children,and about 50％ of congenital cataract is hereditary.Objective The aim of this study was to determine the diseasecausing gene of one Hui congenital cataract pedigree by using exon combined target region capture sequencing chip of eye diseases.Methods This study was approved by Ethic Committee of Ningxia People's Hospital and followed Declaration of Helsinki.One Hui congenital cataract pedigree was recruited in Ningxia Eye Hospital in 2011.All the disease history of the members in this family were collected and recorded,and the eye examinations were performed.The peripheral blood specimens were collected from family members and 300 healthy individuals for the extraction of DNA.Exon combined target region capture sequencing chip of eye diseases was used to screen the candidate diseasecausing mutations,then PCR and direct sequencing were used to confirm the disease-causing mutations.Results This H ui family included 61 members of 6 generations,and 18 patients were diagnosed in serial 5 passages,conforming to autosomal dominant inheritance pattern.Among 18 cataract patients,7 individuals were associated with nystagmus and strabismus,and 4 patients had high myopia.Eight candidate pathogenetic mutations were detected by exon combined target region capture sequencing chip of eye diseases and bioinformatics method,with 5 mutations in noncoding regions and 3 in coding regions.The mutation P24T of CYRGD gene was confirmed as pathogenic mutation of this pedigree by using PCR and direct sequencing methods.These mutations co-segregated with affected members of the family,and the mutations were not found in the unaffected family members and 300 unrelated controls.Conclusions P24T of CYRGD gene mutation is confirmed as pathogenic mutation of this pedigree.Exon combined target region capture sequencing chip provides a new approach to detect disease-causing mutations of congenital cataract with diversity clinical phenotypes.

Methods Serum samples were obtained from 45 infants with RSV infection, including 10 hroivhial asthma, 15 bronchitis or pneumonia ,20 upper respiratory tract infection ;20 healthy infants with non - RSV infection as the normal group.
