Objective:To observe the effect of epalrestat on the heart rate variability in diabetes patients with silent myocardial is-chemia. Methods:Totally 60 patients were randomly divided into the control group and the treatment group with 30 cases in each. The two groups were given insulin or other routine drugs to keep blood sugar under control, ARB or ACEI and CCB to bring high blood pres-sure down, and statins to regulate lipid and anti-platelet aggregation, and both groups were without the use of beta blockers. The treat-ment group was given epalrestat 50mg three times a day for 4 weeks additionally. The indices of FPG, 2hPG, HbA1c, SBP, DBP, T-CHOL, TG, HDL-C, LDL-C and heart rate variability were observed after the treatment. Results: Compared with those before the treatment, the values of FPG, 2HPG, HbA1C, SBP, DBP, T-CHOL and LDL-c were decreased after the treatment in the two groups, and the differences were statistically significant (P <0.05), while the differences between the two groups were not obvious(P >0. 05). After the treatment, SDNN, SDANN, SDNNI, RMSSD, PNN50 and Mean HR in the treatment group were obviously im-proved, which were better than those in the control group (P<0.05). The adverse reactions in the two groups were similar (P<0. 05). Conclusion:Epalrestat can significantly improve HRV-related indicators in the diabetes patients with silent myocardial ischemi-a, which can reduce the risk of sudden death without significant adverse reactions in the combination with other drugs.

Objective To improve the content determination of eight-positive particles,and better control drug quality.Methods Gardenin, emodin and chrysophanol of eight-positive particles were determined by HPLC.Revised content determination standards and improved the standards of quality control. Results The revised content determinations of gardenin, emodin and chrysophanol were simple and feasible, and had high sensitivity.Conclusion Unification the quality standards of eight positive granules,the standards provide the basis for standardizing the market of eight-positive particles.

Objective To explore the characteristics of treatment of gallstone ileus.Methods According to the relationship between the senile pathophysiologic characteristics and senile acute cholangitis severe type(ACST),83 patients were selected to analyze.Results In operation group,which included 83 cases,4 cases were died,the total mortality is 5%.Rate of remnant stone is 15%.Ulcer was healed in 79%.significantly improved in 14% and poor in 9% of patients.Conclusion When conditions turned to be stable.operation should be done in time.The main causes of death of senile ACST are the delay of operation,severe complications and old man.

There is no doubt that the global village is an inevitable trend of human society.Thus,economic globalization which plays a key role in the process will impact all aspects of the countries and nationalities around the world,including national ethics.Consequently,we have to attach importance to the reaction of consciousness in the process of the economic globalization,especially for present China.During the past 30-year prosperity of the reform and opening up,we found many problems and also made a lot of useful investigation and research,such as the relation between economic globalization and market economy,the relation between economic globalization and international politics,the relation between economic globalization and opening up,etc.However,the research on the relation between economic globalization and national ethics is not enough from the respect of economic globalization background.This article tries to analyze the constructions of medical students′ ethics,hoping to attract more valuable comments from each aspect.

OBJECTIVE:To study the change of the content of ginsenosides in the decoction of Panax ginseng and Veratrum nigrum and to find out the change regularity of chemical components in the compatibility of P. ginseng and V. nigrum so as to introduce the mechanism of "P. ginseng and V. nigrum are incompatible with each other" which derives from compatibility theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine. METHODS:HPLC was adopted to determine the content of ginsenoside in decoction derived from the combination of P. ginseng with different amounts of V. nigrum,and colorimetry was applied to determine the content of the total ginsenosides in herbal esidues. RESULTS:The content of the total ginsenosides decreased in the decoction as long as the content of V. nigrum increased. Nevertheless,the content of ginsenosides didn't change as amount of V. nigrum increased. CONCLUSION:It is reasonable to some extent that ginseng and veratrum nigrum are incompatible with each other. With the amount of V. nigrum increasing,the decrease of the total ginsenosides content doesn't result from some components in V. nigrum inhibiting the dissolution of ginsenoside in water solution but result from some components in V. nigrum reacting with ginsenoside leading to the reduction of ginsenoside.

Objective In the study,the effect of berberine on Diabetic Nephropathy (DN) via oxidative stress was studied.Methods The DN model mice was administered with metformin (0.2g/kg),low-dose berberine (0.036 g/kg),middle-dose berberine (0.072g/kg) and high-dose berberine (0.144g/kg) for 8 weeks.After that,the fasting glucose,insulin,serum creatinine,urea nitrogen,Reactive Oxidative Species (ROS),Superoxide Dismutase (SOD),Kelch-like ECH-associated protein 1 (Keap1) 、Nuclear factor (erythroid-derived 2)-like 2 (Nrf2) and NADPH oxidase 4 (NOX4),24h urine protein,etc were measured.Results Berberine could significantly decrease the fasting blood glucose levels,increase the insulin production,and reduce the levels of 24 h urine protein,serum urea nitrogen,creatinine,improve SOD and Nrf2,decrease ROS,Keap1and NOX4.Conclusion Berberine has the protactive effects in DN mice via the Keap-Nrf2/ARE pathway,and middle/high-dose berberine was much better.The mechanism may be related to the alleviated of the oxidative stress.

The process of unfolded or misfolded proteins accumulated in the endoplasmic reticulum lumen termed endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS), which can result in a variety of prevalent disease, such as autoimmune diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, metabolic disorders and cancer.In order to alleviate the pressure of ERS, eukaryotic cells produce a kind of adaptive intracellular signaling pathway which we called unfolded protein response (UPR, which main role is to remove misfolded proteins and restore endoplasmic reticulum homeostasis.However, apoptosis will be trigger if ERS increases continuously.There are many endoplasmic reticulum in Liver cells, the development of liver cancer is closely related to ERS and apoptosis.Therefore, finding a new method for the treatment of liver cancer in theory from the ERS induced apoptosis pathway seems so meaningful.

The highly down-loaded 175 papers from 7 journals of ophthalmology covered in Scopus database in 2011 were analyzed,showing that the most concerned subjects were rintinopathy,macular edema,glaucoma, neovasculariza-tion,Ranibizumab, retinal blood vessel obstruction, OCT,cornea, artificial lens, diabetic retinopathy, nanometer medicine and technology,the research has extended to retro-ocular segment from anterior-ocular segment,the papers of multiple authors accounted for 92%, the reviews accounted for 51.42%and were highly down-loaded.

The source indexes for the coverage of Chinese biomedical journals in MEDLINE were analyzed and compared with the mean values of those for the journals in each subject,which showed that the number of MEDLINE-covered papers published in Chinese medical journals was small ( about 260 papers each year) , the number of au-thors in each paper was 5 and the number of references in each paper was 17 with a half-life of 6. 175 years. The MEDLINE-covered Chinese medical journals did not emphasize on the publication of papers from overseas. However, it seemed that they could attract more found-supported papers.
