Objective To study the values of apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) changing with time and space in cerebral infarction, and to provide the evidence in defining the infarction stages. Methods 117 work-ups in 98 patients with cerebral infarction (12 hyperacute,43 acute,29 subacute,10 steady, and 23 chronic infarctions) were imaged with both conventional MRI and diffusion weighted imaging. The average ADC values, the relative ADC (rADC) values, and the ADC values or rADC values from the center to the periphery of the lesion were calculated. Results The average ADC values and the rADC values of hyperacute and acute infarction lesion depressed obviously.rADC values in hyperacute and acute stage was minimized, and progressively increased as time passed and appeared as "pseudonormal" values in approximately 8 to 14 days.Thereafter,rADC values became greater than normal in chronic stage. There was positive correlation between rADC values and time[ (174 ±3.47)% vs (58±6.75)%,t =2.03,P <0.05 ].The ADC values and the rADC values in hyperacute and acute lesions had gradient signs that these lesions increased from the center to the periphery. The ADC values and the rADC values in subacute lesions had adverse gradient signs that these lesions decreased from the center to the periphery. Conclusion The ADC values of infarction lesions have evolution rules with time and space. The evolution rules with time and those in space can be helpful to provide the evidence in guiding the treatment or judging the prognosis in infarction.

Student preparation for laboratory sessions is the first step of conducting laboratory experiments. It makes students maximize use of laboratory time and efficiently perform laboratory exercises in open labs. In view of teaching features and requirements of Microbiology experiment, we designed and developed ‘Online Student Preparation and Management System of Microbiology Experiment’, which integrated func- tions of student preparation for laboratory sessions and teacher management. In the system each experiment consists of six successive parts, viz., learning objectives, principle, materials and equipments, procedure video, manipulation simulation and online quiz. Teaching practices showed that the application of the system enhanced the preparing quality and makes the management of the experiment teaching more normalized and efficient. It was an effective measure in improving experimental teaching of Microbiology.

Objective To investigate the effect of preemptive parecoxib on blood coagulation in patients undergoing abdominal hysterectomy. Methods This was a randomized, double-blind controlled study. Seventy ASA Ⅰ or Ⅱ patients aged 38-56 yr weighing 50-75 kg undergoing abdominal hysterectomy under combined spinal-epidural anesthesia were randomized to one of 2 groups (n=35 each): parecoxib group (group P) received intravenous parecoxib 40 mg/2 ml at 20 min before anesthesia and control group (group C) received normal saline 2 ml instead of parecoxib. Both groups received patient-controlled intravenous analgesia (PCIA) with butorphanol after surgery. The PCIA solution contained butorphanol 0.2 mg/kg and ondansetron 4 mg in normal saline 100 ml.The PCIA was set up with background infusion 2 ml/h, incremental dose 2 ml, and lockout interval 15 min. VAS score was used to assess the intensity of pain (O= no pain, 10 = worst pain). Venous blood samples were taken before and at 30 min and 2 h after parecoxib or normal saline administration for coagulation test and platelet count. The postoperative ambulation time and adverse response were recorded. Butorphanol consumption per hour during postoperative analgesia and total consumption of butorphanol within 24 h after operation were also recorded. Results Compared with those before parecoxib administration, prothrombin time and thrombin time in group C and thrombin time in group P were significantly prolonged and fibrinogen concentration was significantly lower in group C at 30 min after parecoxib administration (P< 0.05), but no significant difference was found in the other parameters of blood coagulation and platelet count at 30 min after parecoxib administration in group P ( P>0.05).The fibrinogen concentration was significantly higher, the incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting was significantly lower, the postoperative ambulation time was significantly shorter, and butorphanol consumption per hour during postoperative analgesia and total consumption of butorphanol within 24 h after operation were significantly lower in group P than in group C ( P<0.05 ), but there was no significant difference in the other parameters of blood coagulation and platelet count between group P and group C ( P > 0.05 ). Conclusion Preemptive parecoxib 40 mg can enhance blood coagulation in patients undergoing abdominal hysterectomy.
