Objective To determine the relationship between chronic colonic schistosomiasis and colorectal carcinoma.Methods Expression levels of c-erbB-2 and DPC4 were detected by two-step and SP immunohistochemical method respectively in normal colonic mucosa of 15 cases,in colonic mucosa of 15 cases with simple schistosomiasis,20 cases of colorectal carcinoma with schistosomiasis and 20 cases of colorectal carcinoma without schistosomiasis.Results c-erbB-2 was expressed in each group with different levels,but the level in colonic mucosa with schistosomiasis was the highest compared to other groups,which had statistical significance(P

Objective To investigate the technical charactenstics ot SYSMEX XS1000i 5-part differential automated hematological analyzer and its clinical applications.Methods 209 samples were analyzed with the analyzer of XS1000i and compared to the results from Beckman-Coulter LH750 analyzer.The main parameters from XS1000i,such as precision within-run,day to day precision and carryover contamination rates etc,were recorded respectively in 509 samples to compare the difference between the instrumental and optical examination.Results All variation coefficients of precision from XSI000i were within the manufacturer.The carryover contamination rates of WBC,RBC,Hb,HCT and PLT were 0.19%,0.93%,0,-0.88%,-0.76%,respectively.The parameters of XS1000i were correlated with the results of LH750 except basophil granulocyte.The correlation coefficients of WBC,RBC, HGB and PLT were 0.994 5,0.996 8,0.997 0 and 0.974 6 ,respectively.The sensitivity of warning flags in immature leukocytes was 100% and the specificity was 69.7%,the sensitivity of warning flags in atypical lymphocyte was 100% and the specificity was 66.7%.Especially in 3 leukocytopenia that was induced by chemotherapy in patients with leukemia who had only few immature cells existed in the peripheral blood,the parameters of XS1000i were positive,and correlated with the results of detection of minimal residual disease with flow cytometry.Conclusions The warning system of XSIO00i provides more valuable information for manual microscopic examination.If it is combined with flow cytometry,the advantages in detection of residual leukemic cell will be fully displayed.

Voltage-gated sodium channels (VGSCs) are known to be involved in the initiation and progression of many malignancies, and the different subtypes of VGSCs play important roles in the metastasis cascade of many tumors. This study investigated the functional expression of Nav1.5 and its effect on invasion behavior of human breast cancer cell line MDA-MB-231. The mRNA and protein expression of Nav1.5 was detected by real time PCR, Western Blot and immunofluorescence. The effects of Nav1.5 on cell proliferation, migration and invasion were respectively assessed by MTT and Transwell. The effects of Nav1.5 on the secretion of matrix metalloproteases (MMPs) by MDA-MB-231 were analyzed by RT-PCR. The over-expressed Nav1.5 was present on the membrane of MDA-MB-231 cells. The invasion ability in vitro and the MMP-9 mRNA expression were respectively decreased to (47.82+/-0.53)% and (43.97+/-0.64)% (P<0.05) respectively in MDA-MB-231 cells treated with VGSCs specific inhibitor tetrodotoxin (TTX) by blocking Nav1.5 activity. It was concluded that Nav1.5 functional expression potentiated the invasive behavior of human breast cancer cell line MDA-MB-231 by increasing the secretion of MMP-9.

Objective: To investigate the anticancer action of taurine and its potential mechanisms. Methods: 101 weanling female SD rats were randomly divided into four groups. They were:(1)control group (CL):fed a basic diet;(2)high fat group(HF):fed a high fat diet (10% lard);(3)taurine group (Tau):fed a taurine diet (5% taurine);(4)taurine and high fat group(TH):fed a mixed diet (5%taurine and 10% lard). 10mg DMBA were given to each rat by gavage at age of 6 weeks. Then the rats were fed assigned diet for 26 weeks. By 5 weeks after DMBA administration the rats were palpated once weekly and the time, size, location of each tumor were recorded. To investigate the clinical efficacy of distally based myocutaneous flap pedicled with nutrient vessel of cutaneous nerve of leg for the treatment of traumatic chronic osteomyelitis of lower leg. A total of 25 patients with traumatic chronic osteomyelitis of lower legs were from Department of Burn and Plastic Surgery, Beijing Jishuitan Hospital from January 2002 to June 2008. All the patients were treated with distally based myocutaneous flap pedicled with nutrient vessel of cutaneous nerve of leg after thoroughly debridement. Among them, 6 patients were treated with myocutaneous flap with nutrient vessel of saphenous nerve, and 19 patients were treated with myocutaneous flap with nutrient vessel of sural nerve. The sizes of the flaps were 5 cm×3 cm-18 cm× 12 cm, with attached muscles were 3 cm×3 cm-8 cm×5 cm. The lengths of the pedicles were 5-12 cm. All transplanted myocutaneous flaps survived well. A 6-24 months follow-up of all patients was obtained. The shape and texture of the myocutaneous flaps were good. And there was no recurrence of osteomyelitis. Results suggested that the distally based myocutaneous flap pedicled with nutrient vessel of cutaneous nerve of leg had reliable blood supply and satisfied efficacy, which was a good method for repairing traumatic chronic osteomyelitis of lower leg.
