Objective To investigate prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MS) and its related factors in patients with maintaining hemodialysis (MHD). Methods A total of 162 cases on MHD in Beijing Chaoyang Hospital during June to December 2010, were enrolled in this study and divided into MS group and non-MS group according to the diagnostic criteria for MS set by the International Diabetes Federation. Anthropometric and blood biochemical characteristics of the two groups were compared with t-test and x2 test Risk factors for MS were explored with binary logistic regression analysis. Results Prevalence of MS was 40. 7% (66/162) . There was significant difference found in body mass index [(24. 2 ±3. 1) vs. (21. 6 ±2. 7) kg/m2], waistline circumference[(93 ±8) vs. (79 ±7)cm] , white blood cell count [(6. 8 ± 1. 5) × 109/L vs. (5. 6 ± 1. 4) × 109/L] , hypersensitive serum C-reactive protein [(7 ± 5)vs. (4 ±3) mg/L], high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol [(0. 99 ±0. 26)vs. (1.39 ±0.39) mmol/L], low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol [(2. 5 ± 0. 8) vs. ( 2. 1 ± 0. 7) mmol/L], triglyceride ( TG) [( 2. 1 ±1.1 )vs. (1.3±0.8) mmol/L], fasting blood glucose [(5.9±2. 7)vs. (4.8±1.3) mmol/L], serum level of iron [(16±7)vs. (13 ±5) μmol/L], uric acid [(429±114) vs. (388±88) (μmol/L], and carbon dioxide combining power (CO2CP) [(22 ±4)vs. (23 ±4) mmol/L]between MS group and non-MS group (All P < 0.05 ) . But there was no significant difference found in subjective global assessment of nutritional status (SGA) , thickness of skin fold of the triceps muscle (TSF) between the two groups (Both P > 0.05). Binary logistic regressive analysis revealed that serum level of iron (OR = 1.058,95% CI = 1.001 -1. 119), white blood cell count ( OR = 1. 786,95% CI = 1. 346 - 2.371) and hypersensitive serum C-reactive protein (OR = 1. 101,95% CI = 1.010 - 1.201 ) were independent risk factors for MS in MHD patients. Conclusions Morbidity of MS is high in patients with MHD, involved with inflammation process. Serum level of iron, white blood cell count and hypersensitive serum C-reactive protein are independent risk factors for MS in patients with MHD and no inevitable connection between MS and nutritional status in them is found.

Objective To compare the clinical utility of s7 and s670 intracoronary sents in the management of patients with coronary artery disease. Methods The clinical follow-up outcomes of 68 patients after implantation of s7 (n=32; group Ⅰ) and s670 (n=36;group Ⅱ) intracoronary stents were retrospectively analysed. Results The successful procedure rates were 100% in group Ⅰ and 97.2% in groupⅡ. The follow-up period was six months for both groups. In group Ⅰ, there were no death, no re-infarction and no revascularization but 2 patients experienced reccurrence of angina ( 6.25%). In group Ⅱ, there were 1 death, 1 patient undergoing revascularization, 3 patients suffering from reccurrence of angina ( 13.8%). Conclusions Both s7 and s670 intracoronary stents appear to be safe and effective in the treatment of coronary lesions with favorable outcomes.

BACKGROUND:Tumor necrosis factor-α-induced protein-8 like-2 (TIPE2), an anti-inflammatory protein, through the T cel receptor (TCR) and TOLL-like receptor signaling pathway, implements negative regulation of adaptive immunity and innate immunity, and thus effectively maintains the stable internal environment of the body.
OBJECTIVE:To construct a recombinant adenovirus that can overexpress rat TIPE2 gene.
METHODS:TIPE2 cDNA target gene was amplified from rat’s lymphocytes using RT-PCR, cloned into shuttle plasmid pShuttle-clontech, and then subcloned into artificial adenovirus vector AdC68. Hereafter, HEK 293 cel s were transfected to generate a recombinant adenovirus. HEK293A cel s were infected using this recombinant adenovirus, and then TIPE2 gene level was tested by western blot method.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Based on results of PCR, digestion identification and sequencing, the obtained cDNA was the coding sequence region of TIPE2. Western blot findings showed that the recombinant adenovirus could overexpress TIPE2 gene. These findings indicate that the recombinant adenovirus is constructed successful y and can express TIPE2 gene stably.

AIM: To compare pharmacokinetics and relative bioavailability of telmisartan capsule (T) and telmisartan tablet(R). METHODS: 20 male healthy Chinese volunteers were enrolled in a randomized two-way crossover designs with a single-oral dose study(80 mg once per day for each preparation). The plasma telmisatan concentration was determined by HPLC- fluorescence detector. Plasma levels of telmisatan were followed up to 96 h. Area under the telmisartan concentration time curve was calculated by variance analysis and the bioequivalent was determined by two one-side t-test. RESULTS: A two-compartment model was adopted in telmisartan plasma concentration-time data analysis. The pharmacokinetic parameters of T and R in single-dose study including Cmax (μg·L-1), Tmax (h), T1/2β (h), MRT(h), AUC0-92(μg·h·L-1) were as following: 456±253 and 760±314, 1.61±0.71 and 1.08±0.36, 22.39±6.29 and 21.08±5.24, 27.02±6.23 and 24.27±5.79, 3454±1050 and 3635±1300, respectively. Statistically significant differences were observed between the parameter values of the two products in Cmax and Tmax; whereas there was no statistically significant difference between AUC0-∞μg·h·L-1 (3601±1095 and 3767±1399). The relative bioavailability for T was 97.28%±12.74%. CONCLUSION: The test telmisartan capsule is bioequivalent to the reference tablet.
