Objective To study the therapeutic effect of co-administrated metformin and rosiglitazone in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).Methods 53 patients with T2DM were divided into 2 groups in random:co-administrated glipizide and metformin(group A)and co-administrated metformin and rosiglitazone(group B).All cases were treated for 6 months.Blood pressure(BP),blood glucose(BG),body mass index(BMI),hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c),insulin,and blood lipid were determined and the HOMA-insulin resistance index(HOMA-IR)was calculated.Results Both treatments were effective on hyperglucose,hypertension,hyperlipidemia and high BMI(P<0.05-0.01),while group B could lower the level of insulin(P<0.05)and HOMA-IR(P<0.01).Conclusions Treatment of co-administrated metformin and rosiglitazone can improve the abnormal carbohydrate and lipid metabolism,higher levels of BP and BMI,and ameliorate insulin resistance.

In recent years traditional Chinese medical massage has made remarkable achievements in the treatment of infantile diarrhea, besides, it has no toxic and side effect, no complaints and without affecting the growth rhythm of children and easily accepted by children. Massage manipulation and curative effects of treating infantile diarrhea was discussed in this text, the mechanism was analyzed, and the forecast of traditional Chinese medical massage on infantile diarrhea was proposed.

Objective To investigate the common etiologies,sports and learning situation of children in Nantong with short stature,and discuss the relationship between the two. Methods Did a retrospective analysis of 108 cases of children with short stature in Nantong University′s affiliated hospital since January 2012. Through detailed past illnesses, physical examination, laboratory tests, diagnose short stature and clarify the cause. Did a questionnaire to these children with short stature about sports and learning situation. Use statistical methods like multivariate Logis-tic regression analysis and link analysis to analyze sports and learning situation of children in Nantong with short sta-ture and find the relation with the etiology. According to the principle of group matching,the control group elected representative of 108 children. Results In 108 cases, 61 cases were because of growth hormone deficiency (GHD), accounting for 56. 5% ; 47 cases were because of non-growth hormone deficiency (NGHD), accounting for 43. 5% . Logistic regression analysis showed that participation in physical exercise was a protective factor. Rest-less anxiety and inattention were as risk factors,and these make a lot(P < 0. 001, OR = 7. 483, 95% CI = 2. 620 ~21. 374). There was no significant relation between common cause and sports, learning situation ( P > 0. 05). Conclusion Various types of sports (basketball, badminton, running, cycling) are protective factors for children of short stature. Restless anxiety and inattention are risk factors for children with short stature. Whether there is growth hormone deficiency or not, children with short stature should increase the right exercise as much as possible and avoid or reduce exposure to these risk factors.

Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI)can reflect the brain structure and development more quantitatively and intuitively than conventional magnetic resonance sequence by obtaining the diffusion properties of water molecules. In neonatal brain developmental research,DTI could be used to study the developmental regularities of white matter tracts and cerebral structure deformity.It can also help to explore the relationship between white matter microstructure and neurodevelopmental outcome.In the study of brain injury,including premature white matter injury,hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy,neonatal stroke,and so on,DTI can diagnose the brain microstructure injury precisely,evaluate the ef-fectiveness of interventions and predict the long -term neurodevelopmental outcome.DTI may have good prospect in re-search and clinical application on neonatal brain development and injury.

Objective To prove the application of bilingual teaching in the child health care curriculum. MethodsEnglish dubbing and Chinese subtitling DVD coursewares of child growth and development were played to medical interns.The interns were asked to do questionnaires to examine feasibility and effectiveness. Results In 8-year program medical students,77.8% of them and 64.8% of the 5-year nutrition professional students could understand the contents of more than 90%.If there was no Chinese subtitles,the ratio were only 5.6% and 6.4%.Most students preferred English subtitles and dubbing,and endorsed the model of bilingual teaching. Conclusion DVD coursewares with Chinese subtitles and English dubbing can be widely used in the teaching of child health care.

OBJECTIVE: To study the mechanism of herbal application along meridians for treatment and prevention of asthma by using serum pharmacological test to observe the effects of serum containing herbs against the constriction of tracheal spiral strips induced by acetylcholine chloride (Ach). METHODS: Guinea pigs were randomly divided into normal control group, normal saline (NS) application group, aminophylline application group, aminophylline injection group, 1-day herb application group, 7-day herb application group and 14-day herb application group. Asthma was induced by Hutson's method in guinea pigs except the normal control group. Guinea pigs in herb application groups were treated by external application of a compound herbal medicine 60 min once every day. Guinea pigs in NS application group were treated by external application of NS. Guinea pigs in the two aminophylline-treated groups were treated by external application and intraperitoneal injection of aminophylline at a dose of 400 mg/kg, respectively. The guinea pigs were killed and the sera were obtained after 1-day, 7-day and 14-day treatment in the three herb application groups, 7-day treatment in the NS application group, the aminophylline application and injection groups, respectively. Serum pharmacological method was used to do the experiment, the effects of different sera on the constriction of tracheal strips were observed, and the constriction rates were calculated. RESULT: The serum containing herbs had an effect in reducing the constriction of tracheal spiral strips induced by Ach, and the effect was similar to that of the serum obtained from the aminophylline injection group. The constriction rate of the tracheal spiral strips was decreased when herbal application treatment was prolonged within a period of time, and it became stable when herbal application treatment was between 7-14 days. The constriction of tracheal spiral strips induced by Ach could be reduced remarkably when it was previously treated by serum containing herbs. CONCLUSION: The anti-acetylcholine function with a time-dependent effect is one of the mechanisms of herbal application treatment along meridians for asthma, and furthermore, herbal application treatment along meridians might be useful for preventing asthma.

Objective To study the changes of biochemistry indexes in blood serum and bone mineral density (BMD) of secondary osteoporosis after spinal cord injury (SCI) in rats. Methods 120 male Wistar rats were divided randomly into 12 groups (n=10). The rats in control groups were only removed larmina with dura intact, without spinal cord injury at the level of the tenth thoracic vertebrae, the rats in experimental groups were also removed larmina, then paraplegic model was made by the method of Allen's (60gcm). ObjectiveTo investigate the clinical significance of posterior spinal cord shifting after two different types of laminoplasty for multilevel cervical myelopathy.Methods From June 2004 to September 2007,65 patients with cervical spondylotic myelopathy were reviewed in this study,including 41 males and 24 females with an average age was 56.3 years(range,39-75).Among them,33 patients underwent selective laminoplasty and 32 patients underwent open-door laminoplasty.There were no significant differences of preoperative JOA scores and cervical curvature index between two groups.After one year follow -up,the posterior shifting of spinal cord,Japanese Orthopaedics Association (JOA) recovery rate,loss of curvature index and axial symptom for each patient were calculated.ResultsAll cases were followed up for average 34 months(range,26-47).There was significant difference of the postoperative posterior shifting between the two groups,which was(1.4±0.6) mm in selective laminoplasty group and(3.3±1.2) mm in opendoor laminoplasty group,respectively.The average JOA recovery rate was 60.5％±21.3％ and 61.1％±17.9％ in selective laminoplasty and open-door laminoplasty group,respectively.There was no significant difference of JOA recovery rate between the two groups.Loss of cervical curvature indices was 3.3％±1.7％ and 3.1％± 2.4％ in selective laminoplasty and open-door laminoplasty group,respectively,with no significant difference between the two groups.The rate of patients with evident axial symptoms was 18.2％ and 33.3％ in selective laminoplasty group and open-door laminoplasty group,and the difference of the scores of cervical axial symptom was statistically significant.ConclusionThe degree of the postoperative posterior shifting of the spinal cord in open-door laminoplasty group was greater than that in selective laminoplasty group.The posterior shifting of the spinal is correlated with cord,axial symptom but not the recovery rate and curvature index.

Objective To investigate the characteristic,diagnosis and treatment of the nipple discharge.Methods The clinical data of 174 cases who were diagnosed as nipple dlscharge from January 2001 to December2006 were collected and analyzed retrospectively.Results Among those 174 cases,136 cases were confirmed histopathologieally to be intraduetal papilloma.The confirmed diagnosis rate of intraduetal papilloma by galaetograghy was 85.00%.Carcinoma-charge rate of the intraduetal papilloma was 5.17%.Conclusion Nipple discharge was the most common symptom in the intraductal papillomatesis.The galaetography was a valuable method in the diagnosis of the intraduetal papilloma.There was carcinoma-charge possibility in the intraduetal papilloma.
