International Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2012;34(3):210-213
Objective To study the protective effects of garlic polysaecharide on L02 from oxidative injury.Methods Cultured L02 were injured by ethanol.Various concentrations of GP(10、20、40、80 mg/L) were added into culture medium.Then the cellular MDA,SOD,and GSH-Px were determined in order to observe the protection of curcumin and the time-dose-response effects.Meanwhile,HO-1 mRNA was detected by RT-PCR method after ethanol exposure.The expressions of HO- 1 proteins were detected by Western blotling.Results GP (10、20、40、80 mg/L) could reduce oxidative injury induced by ethanol in L02 cells.Liver cells were 100 mmol/L alcohol after 8h exposure,SOD[(3.65±0.42) NU/mg,(4.11±0.16) NU/mg,(4.61 ±0.23)NU/mg],GSH-Px [ (75.96 ± 8.96) mg/mg,(81.83±5.70) mg/mg,(89.32±6.35) mg/mg respectively],GSH-Px[(75.96±8.96),(81.83±5.70),(89.32±6.35) respectively]activity,MDA[(1.05±0.16) nmol/mg,(0.99± 0.12) nmol/mg; (0.78± 0.11) nmol/mg respectively]levels compared with the control group [ (2.35 ±0.28) NU/mg,(54.41 ±8.17) mg/mg,(1.58±0.23) nmol/mg respectively],there was a significant difference (P< 0.05 ); HO-1 mRNA expression was in a concentration- dependent effect.Conclusion GP had protective effects on L02 from oxidative injury probably by reducing GSH consumption,improving antioxidant enzyme activity and inhibiting lipid peroxidation reaction at dose-dependent manner.GP could promote expression of HO-1 mRNA co-coordinating role in protecting liver cells from oxidative injury.

6.Research Progress in Cofactor Engineering of Xylose Metabolism in Recombinant Saccharomyces cerevisiae
Jin HOU ; Yu SHEN ; Xiao-Ming BAO ;
China Biotechnology 2006;0(02):-
Cofactor engineering, a vital part of metabolism engineering, changes the redox cofactor regeneration approach. Its main goal is to rebuild the components of metabolic products. The bioconversion of xylose for the production of ethanol is being studied intensively because ethanol is an alternative energy source and a potential liquid fuel. Saccharomyces cerevisiae has been traditionally used in producing ethanol from fermentable sugars but it cannot utilize xylose, only its isomer xylulose. Introduction of the xylose fermentation pathway from Pichia stipitis into S. cerevisiae enables xylose utilization in recombinant S. cerevisiae, but the ethanol yields of xylose fermentation with recombinant S. cerevisiae has been low and large amounts of the byproduct xylitol are produced. The major reason is that the catabolism of xylose with the fungal pathway leads an imbalance of redox cofactor. The process of the catabolism of xylose requires NADPH and NAD~+, both of which have to be regenerated in separated processes. More and more attention has therefore focused on the redox cofactor balance in S. cerevisia. The research progress of cofactor engineering to solve the imbalance of redox cofactor in xylose metabolism recombinant S. cerevisiae was introduced. This included expression of transhydrogenase, increasing the utilization of NADPH, and achieving the anaerobic reoxidation of NADH. Reversing the cofactor specificity of enzymes is another effective way.

Zhenghai SHEN ; Miankang CHEN ; Juncheng BAO
Chinese Medical Equipment Journal 1989;0(03):-
Objective To explore the ways of accelerating development of clinical medical engineering at the stage. Methods According to the review and analysis of development course of domestic clinical medical engineering, its restraining factors during the development were understood, the development strategies and means which to promote our country clinical engineering were sought. Results Various policy information and medical dynamic trends can be indicated that the development conditions of Chinese clinical medical engineering were undergoing a marked improvement and opportunities for the development had come. Conclusion Both opportunities and challenges, clinical medical engineers can be established their own beliefs, discipline construction, expansion of discipline connotation, striving for the support of hospital managers and other aspects to promote the development of clinical engineering disciplines.

Chinese Journal of Pancreatology 2015;15(4):247-250
Objective To evaluate the effect of enteral nutrition by a polymeric formula in patients with severe acute pancreatitis (SAP).Methods Fifty-eight patients with SAP were randomly divided into polymeric group (29 cases) and semi-elemental group (29 cases),and the two groups of patients were treated in accordance with the conventional SAP management protocol,nasojejunal tube was endoscopically inserted for enteral nutrition.The polymeric group received enteral nutritional suspension (TPF),and the semi-elemental group received the same quantity of VIVONEX TEN.The gastrointestinal tolerance (VAS score),incidence of diarrhea,infection,28-day mortality rate,and length of hospital stay was evaluated.Nutritional parameters were evaluated by pre-albumin,albumin,alanine aminotransferase,C reactive protein at the time of admission and one week later.Results The two groups of patients were comparable in terms of VAS score,incidence of diarrhea,infection,28-day mortality rate,and length of hospital stay (P >0.05).And the levels of prealbumin,albumin,alanine aminotransferase,C reactive protein after admission were not statistically significant (P > 0.05).Conclusions Compared with the semi-dement formula,the price of polymeric formula is cheap,configuration is convenint,enteral nutrition is well tolerated,and it is suitable for early enteral nutrition in SAP.
