Chinese Journal of Behavioral Medicine and Brain Science 2013;22(9):773-775
Objective To investigate the effects of nitric oxide synthase inhibitor L-NAME on two tone fear extinction design in rats. Methods In AAA design, the rats received fear conditioning, extinction training and extinction test in the same context. In AAB design, the rats received fear conditioning and extinction training in context A,extinction test in context B.In each task,40 male rats were randomly divided into 4 groups (n =10 per group),and L-NAME(10,20 and 40 mg/kg) or saline was injected intraperitoneally (i.p) 30 min prior to extinction training.Percent freezing was used as an index for fear memory during extinction test phases.Further experiments were used to test state-dependency effects or nonspecific changes of locomotor activity that followed L-NAME injection. Results In AAA design, percent freezing was (27.42 ± 6.52) % in saline group, and (30.83 ±7.15) %,(32.49 ± 8.55) %,(38.94 ± 11.48) % in 10,20,40 mg/kg L-NAME group respectively. There was no significant difference in the level of percent freezing among the four groups (P>0.05).In AAB design, percent freezing was (30.32 ± 6.15) % in saline group, and (32.83 ± 6.64) %,(39.49 ± 8.74) %,(49.94 ± 10.83) %in 10,20,40 mg/kg L-NAME group respectively.Compared with saline, only rats with L-NAME 40 mg/kg showed more levels of freezing (P <0.01).In state-dependency effects test, compared with Sal-Sal group ((26.73 ±5.62) %) which received both saline injections 30 min before extinction training and extinction test, respectively, both NAME-Sal group((48.44 ± 10.46) %) and NAME-NAME group((61.25 ± 13.24) %) showed more levels of freezing (P<0.01,respectively).Conclusion These results show that L-NAME produces a task-dependent impairment of fear extinction, and implies that nitric oxide signaling is involved in memory process of certain extinction tasks.

Objective To explore the causal influences between activated regions in executive control network when participants were performing attention network test (ANT)under passive hyperthermia using Granger causality analysis. Methods Thirty male healthy participants which were randomly divided into control group (n=1 5)and experimental group (n=1 5)performed ANT task during two thermal conditions:hyperthermic condition (50℃)and normothermic condition (20℃)during functional magnetic reso-nance imaging. The data processing was performed using statistical parametric mapping 8 (SPM8).Granger causality analysis was performed on the resulted activated regions,as well as the correlations of the GC values with the reaction time in both groups. Results Between-group comparisons on Granger causality analysis revealed significantly enhanced influences of anterior cingulate gyrus and right inferior parietal lobule on dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, and bidirectional influences between dorsolateral prefrontal cortex and right superior parietal lobule, but decreased influence between right superior parietal lobule and right inferior parietal lobule. The correlation analysis showed significant correlation between GC value of right superior parietal lobule to dorsolateral prefrontal cortex and the reaction time in control group (r=-0.558,P =0.031),but yet there was no significant correlation in experimental group (r=0.355,P =0.257).Conclusion Heat stress affected the causal influences within the executive control network, which subse-quently disrupted the executive control performance during passive hyperthermia.

Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2009;(19):886-888,893
Objective:To analyze the clinical feature and treatment of head-neck malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH).Method:A retrospective analysis on the clinical data of 28 cases of MFH were carried out, of which 9 were in the maxilla, 3 in the nasal cavity, 5 in the larynx, 3 in the parotid, 3 in the temporal bone, 1 in the hypothyroid, and 4 in the head and neck region. All of the cases underwent immune histochemistry: 4 cases of surgery alone, 23 cases of surgery followed by radiotherapy, and 1 case of radiotherapy alone.Result:Except 5 cases lost follow-up after 1 year, all the other cases were followed-up over 3 years, the survival rate for 1 or 3 years was respectively 96.4%(27/28) and 57.1%(16/28); 23 cases were followed up for 5 years, the survival rate was 26.1%(6/23). The recurrent rate in 3 years was 60.7%(17/28) ,with 1 to 7 times recurrence at a mean interval of 5.6 months. Twelve recurrent cases were adopted expanded resection of non-defined operation except 1 case with radiotherapy. Conclusion:The diagnosis of MFH depends on the technology of immune histochemistry. Early diagnosis, expanded resection, and integrated therapy could reduce the recurrence and increase the survival rate; the recurrence could adopt expanded resection of non-defined operation to prolong the life.
