Objective To investigate the rituximab plus bendamustine (R-Benda) therapeutic effect for relapsed extragastric mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma.Methods Ten patients (three females and seven males) with relapsed extragastric MALT lymphoma undergoing therapy with R-Benda were defined.Bendamustine was given at a dose of 90 mg/m2 on days 2 and 3 in nine patients and at 70 mg/m2 in one patient, while all received 375 mg/m2 rituximab on day 1.Results Nine patients received six courses of therapy,while one patient discontinued therapy after five courses for personal reasons, while one elderly patient had progressive disease after three courses.Tolerance of therapy was excellent, and all except one patient responded.Eight patients achieved the complete remission, one achieved the partial remission, and one patient progressed.Toxicities were mild and mainly hematological.After a median follow-up of 24 months (range, 5-43 months), 9 patients were alive.Conclusion R-Benda regime has high activity and good tolerance for patients with relapsed extragastric MALT lymphoma.

BACKGROUND: Aldosterone is an important pathogenic factor of left ventricular hypertrophy. There has been evidence that the extract of red sage root (a Chinese herb) can intervene the synthesis of aldosterone.OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of tanshinone Ⅱ A on expression of genes related to aldosterone synthesis in myocardium. DESIGN:A randomized and controlled trial. SETTING :Tongji Hospital Affiliated to Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. MATERIALS:The experiment was performed at the laboratory of Emergency Department, Tongji Hospital Affiliated to Tongji Medical College,Huazhong University of Science and Technology from November 2002 to March 2004. Totally 20 male 12-week-old rats with spontaneous hypertension were randomly divided as hypertension group and tanshinone Ⅱ A group. METHODS:Rats in each group were injected tanshinone Ⅱ A or distilled water in the same volume respectively through caudal vein. After 12-week administration,the rats were put to death by decapitation, and the samples of myocardium were prepared. The expressions of CYP11B1mRNA and CYP11B2 mRNA, or myocardial genes related to aldosterone synthesis were examined with reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RTPCR) and referring to the amplification primers of glyceraldehydes 3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) gene. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:The levels of CYP11B1 and CYP11B2 mRNA related to aldosterone synthesis in myocardium.RESULTS :Totally 20 rats were involved in the trial and all entered in the final result analysis without any loss of value. ① Quantitative analysis of expression of myocardial CYP11B1 and CYP11B2 genes in rats of two groups: Taking 100bp Plus Ladder as Marker,clear amplified strands could be seen at 440bp,461bp and 336bp sites,DNA sequencing proved they were the encoding gene segments of CYP11B1,YP11B2 and GAPDH. ②Qualitative analysis of expression of myocardial CYP11B1 and CYP11B2 genes in rats of two groups:The expressive levels of CYP11B1 and CYP1 1B2 mRNA contents in tanshinone Ⅱ A group were significantly lower than those in hypertension group (0.924±0.121 vs 1.343±0.132,P ＜ 0.05;1.017±0.119 vs 1.675±0.126,P 0.01). CONCLUSION:Tanshinone Ⅱ A could directly down-regulate the expression of CYP1 1B1 and CYP1 1B2 mRNA, the genes related to aldosterone syn thesis, so that it inhibited the biological synthesis of aldosterone in myocardinm, thus playing a role to resist hypertensive left ventricular hypertrophy.

BACKGROUND:Aldosterone is main pathogenic factor of left ventricular hypertrophy, for which, to inhibit its biosynthesis effectively may prevent and treat hypertension induced by left ventricular hypertrophy.OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of Tanshinone Ⅱ A on myocardiac aldosterone synthesis and expression of its relevant genic CYP11B1and CYP1 1B2 in spontaneously hypertensive rats(SHR) and explore the possi ble nechanism of Tanshinone Ⅱ A on inhibiting hypertension induced by left ventricular hypertrophy.DESIGN:SHR were employed as the objects in the experiment and WKY rats with normal blood pressure (WKY rats) were employed in the controlgroup. Complete group division and randomized control experiment was designed. Analysis of variance was used for the means comparison among groups.SETTING :Department of Emergency and Institute of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine in Tongji Hospital Affiliated to Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology.MATERIALS :The experiment was performed in the laboratory of Department of Emergency in Tongji Hospital Affiliated to Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology from January 2003 to February 2004, in which, 10 male WKY rats with normal blood pressure of 12-week-old were employed in the control group and 20 male SHR of 12-week-old were randomized into two groups, named hypertension group and Tanshinone ⅡA group, 10 rats each group.METHODS:In Tanshinone Ⅱ A group, Tanshinone Ⅱ A 1.5 mg/kg was injected abdominally everyday. The distilled water of same volume was injected abdominally in hypertension group and the control group. Twelve weeks after experiment, myocardial specimens were collected after rats sacrificed. Radioimmunoassay was used to determine the contents of aldosteron and angiotensin Ⅱ in myocardial tissue and reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) were used to measure mRNA level of CYP11B1 and CYP11B2 genes relevant to aldosterone synthesis.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Contents of aldosterone and angiotensin Ⅱ in myocardial tissue and mRNA expression of CYP11B1 and CYP1 1B2 genes.RESULTS:All of 20 SHR and 10 WKY rats entered result analysis. ① Myocardial aldosterone content of rats in 12 weeks after experiment: that in hypertension group and Tanshinone Ⅱ A group was higher remarkably than that in the control group [(0.056±0.014), (0.031±0.010), (0.018±0.009) ng/g,P ＜ 0.01, 0.05]; that in Tanshione Ⅱ A group was lower remarkably than that in the hypertension group (P ＜ 0.05). ② Myocardial angiotension Ⅱ content of rats in 12 weeks after experiment: that in the hypertension group and Tanshinone ⅡA group was higher remarkably than that in the control group [(0.093±0.016), (0.088±0.024), (0.043±0.012) ng/L, P ＜ 0.01]. ③ Expression of CYP11B1 gene in myocardial tissue of rats in 12 weeks after experiment: that in the hypertension group and Tanshinone Ⅱ A group was higher remarkably than that in the control group (2.774±0.138, 2.533 ±0.127, 1.973±0.102, P ＜ 0.05). ④Expression of CYP11B2 gene in myocardial tissue of rats in 12 weeks after experiment; that in the hypertension group and Tanshinone ⅡA group was higher remarkably than that in the control group (1.573±0.106, 1.024±0.113, 0.786±0.121, P ＜ 0.01,0.05); that in the Tanshinone ⅡA group was lower remarkably than that in the hypertension group (P ＜ 0.05). ⑤The electrophoresis band positions of myocardial CYP11B1 and CYP11B2 as well as RT-PCR products of glyceraldehydes-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH), the consulting gene,were in conformity with the theoretic values.CONCLUSION:The inhibition of Tanshinone Ⅱ A on hypertension induced by left ventricular hypertrophy is probably contributed to its downregulating effect on myocardiac CYP11B2 gene expression relevant to aldosterone synthesis and to its reducing action on local biosynthesis of aldosterone in heart.

Objective To analyze the association between β2-AK 27 locus genetic polymorphisms and asthma, and the protective effect in airway hyperreactivity. Methods The allel polymerase chain reaction were used to determine β2-AR 27 locus genetic polymorphisms in 149 patients with cough variant asthma who have the airway hyperreactivity. To observe these people for two years in order to know the proportion of changed to typical asthma. And compare with 90 people in healthy group. Results (1) The distribution frequency of β2-AR 27 locus genetic polymorphisms is major in heterozygote (57 % ) , and the Glu/Glu homozygote has the least ( 20% ) , (2) There was a significant decrease in the frequency of Glu/Glu genotype in asthmatics compared with healthy group(9% VS 20% ) ,OR = 0.4(P<0.05) ,95% CI (0.2 ～0. 9) ,but there was no significant difference in the allele frequency of asthmatics compared with healthy group,(3)The frequency of Glu/Glu genotype in severe asthma was lower than stable asthma group(P<0. 05). Conclusion These results suggesteded that β2-AR 27 locus genetic polymorphisms is correlated with asthma,and the Glu27 could have the protective effect to the airway.

Chronic treatment with Salvia Miltiorrhiza preventing left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) and its possible mechanism--inhibiting the action of cardiac aldosterone in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) were investigated. Normotensive Wistar-kyoto (WKY) rats and SHRs were used. Part of SHRs was treated with Salvia Miltiorrhiza for 12 weeks. Systolic blood pressure (SBP) and left ventricular mass index were measured. Sections of heart tissue were stained with HE method and VanGieson method. Collagen volume fraction was determined in the left ventricle by automatically quantitative morphometry. Cardiac aldosterone concentration was measured by radioimmunoassay. The results indicated that compared with WKY rats, SHRs exhibited higher SBP, left ventricular collagen volume fraction, and aldosterone concentration (all P < 0.05). After the treatment with Salvia Miltiorrhiza, SBP, left ventricular collagen volume fraction, and aldosterone concentration in SHR were decreased as compared with control group (P < 0.05) except SBP. It was concluded that chronic treatment with Salvia Miltiorrhiza could prevent left ventricular hypertrophy in SHR, significantly inhibit collagen compositions in left ventricle. The mechanism was probably related with the inhibition of the cardiac aldosterone action.

Objective:To explore the therapeutic effects of lamb′s tripe extract and vitamin B12 (hereinafter referred to as lamb′s tripe) capsule on precancerous lesions of gastric mucosa in rats.Methods:Thirty-two rats of the 42 Wistar rats (model group) were selected for modelling, and in model group six rats died due to gavage, 10 rats were sacrificed for observing the results of modeling, and the left 16 rats were divided into administration group (eight rats) and non-administration group (eight rats). After modeling, five of the 10 rats without modelling treatment were selected as the normal control of the model group, the other five (negative control group) rats were included in drug intervention experiment. The drug intervention program was as follows: in administration group, rats were gavaged with lamb′s tripe 0.2 g/kg once per day for three months; in non-administration group and negative control group, rats were gavaged with 0.9% sodium chloride solution 0.2 g/kg once per day for three months. One rat died in each for the administration group and non-administration group due to gavage. Body weight gain, pH value of gastric juice and pathological changes of gastric mucosa of the three groups were evaluated. The number of nodules on gastric mucosal surface and the incidence and scores of precancerous lesions (intraepithelial neoplasia) in gastric mucosal were analyzed. The therapeutic effects of lamb′s tripe capsule on gastric mucosal precancerous lesions in rats were evaluated. Independent sample t test , Mann Whitney U test and chi-square test were used for statistical analysis. Results:The body weight gain of rats at the 6th week in the administration group was higher than that of rats in the non-administration group ((508.26±33.96) g vs. (495.50±23.01) g), and the pH value of gastric juice of rats in the administration group was lower than that of rats in the non-administration group (3.07±0.55 vs. 4.45±0.72), and the differences were statistically significant (both P<0.05). The number of proliferative nodules on the gastric mucosal surface of the rats in the administration group was less than that of rats in the non-administration group (the ratio of gastric fundus: 6.00(3.00, 7.00) vs. 11.00(7.00, 13.00); the ratio of gastric antrum: 0.00(0.00, 1.00) vs. 3.00(2.00, 4.00); the ratio of whole stomach: 7.00(3.00, 10.00) vs. 15.00(13.00, 17.00)), and the differences were statistically significant ( U=43.50, 49.00, 49.00, all P<0.05). The score of gastric mucosal precancerous lesions in the administration group was lower than that in the non-administration group(1.00±0.00 vs.1.14±0.38), and the incidence of precancerous lesions in the administration group was lower than that in the non-administration group (1/7 vs. 5/7), and the differences were statistically significant ( t=2.45, χ2=4.67, both P=0.031). Conclusions:Lamb′s tripe capsule can significantly inhibit the progression of precancerous lesions of gastric mucosa in rats, so as to play a role in preventing the occurrence of gastric cancer.

Objective:To describe the characteristics and change trends of incidence, mortality and disease burden of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) in Qingdao from 2014 to 2020.Methods:We analyzed the incidence data of AMI retrieved from Qingdao Chronic Diseases Surveillance System. The average annual percent change (AAPC) of morbidity and mortality of AMI were evaluated by using Joinpoint log-linear regression model. Disability adjusted life year (DALY) was used to estimate disease burden of AMI in Qingdao.Results:A total of 70 491 AMI cases and 50 832 deaths of AMI occurred in Qingdao from 2014 to 2020. The age-standardized morbidity and mortality were 54.71/100 000 and 36.55/100 000, respectively. During 2014-2020, the AAPC of age-standardized morbidity was 2.86% (95% CI: 0.42%-5.35%), and 4.30% (95% CI: 1.24%-7.45%) in men and 0.78% (95% CI: -0.89%-2.47%) in women, respectively. The log-linear regression model showed that age-standardized morbidity in age groups 30-39, 40-49 years increased rapidly, with the AAPCs of 8.92% (95% CI: 2.23%-16.06%) and 6.32% (95% CI: 3.30%-9.44%), respectively. The trend was also observed in age groups 30-39, 40-49 and 50-59 years in men, with the AAPCs of 11.25% (95% CI: 3.54%-19.54%), 6.73% (95% CI: 2.63%-10.99%) and 6.72% (95% CI: 2.98%-10.60%), respectively. There was no significant change in age-standardized mortality. The DALY rate increased from 7.49/1 000 in 2014 to 8.61/1 000 in 2020, with the AAPC of 1.97% (95% CI: 0.36%-3.60%). Conclusions:The age-standardized morbidity of AMI in men increased in Qingdao, especially in those aged 30-49 years, while age-standardized mortality rate of AMI was relatively stable from 2014 to 2020. The burden of disease of AMI increased in both men and women.

The 2022 Fudan university doctorate academic public health forum hosted by the graduate school of Fudan university， the graduate work department of the party committee of Fudan university， and the school of public health of Fudan university was successfully held on December 10， 2022 in the school of public health of Fudan university. In the early stage， a total of 53 manuscripts from nationwide universities and research institutes were received， and 10 were selected as excellent papers to participate in the forum report. More than 100 teachers and students attended the forum. Focusing on the theme of " Adhering to the original ambition of scientific research to serve the country and practicing the mission of public health youth"， the major contents of the forums included excellent paper reports in the morning and round-table discussion in the afternoon. Experts and students conducted discussions and communications on prevention， control and management of public health emergencies. It is of great benefit for students to uphold the original intention，practice the mission and further improve public health research.

Objective: To understand the fruit consumption of adults of Qingdao and examine the association between fruit consumption and stroke. Methods: We analyzed baseline data and stroke incidence of the participants who were aged 30-79 years and had been enrolled into the China Kadoorie Biobank (CKB) study from Qingdao city. Cox proportional hazards regression model was conducted to estimate the association of fruit consumption with risk of stroke. Results: A total of 35 509 participants were investgated in the baseline survey. Ratio of male to female was 1∶1.27, and the average age was (50.3±10.2) years. Respondents with higher frequency of fruit consumption were younger, more women, with higher education level and higher income (P<0.05). A total of 1 011 new cases of stroke were observed, with a stroke incidence of 387.63/100 000 person-years. Multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that fruit consumption had a protective effect on stroke incidence. Compared to the respondents who never consumed fruit, respondents who consumed fruit more than 4 days per week had a 44% lower risk of stroke incidence (HR=0.56, 95%CI: 0.50-0.62, P<0.05), and the risk reduced by 46% (HR=0.54, 95%CI: 0.46-0.64, P<0.05) and 42% (HR=0.58, 95%CI: 0.52-0.69, P<0.05) in male and female, respectively. Further adjustment for WC, BMI, SBP and random blood glucose did not change the association. Conclusion Increasing fruit consumption can effectively decrease the risk of stroke. People should increase fruit consumption advisably to set up reasonable and healthy dietary habits.
