Objective: To investigate the vaccine potency of GM-CSF anchored B16 tumor cells. Methods: In this study, mGM-CSF was expressed on surface of B16 mice melanoma cells by GPI-modifying. C57BL/6 mice were inoculated with GM-CSF anchored cells and wide-type B16 cells to evaluate whether the GM-CSF anchored cells could elicit a protective and systemtic antitumor response. Results: GM-CSF anchored cells resulted in remarkable loss of tumorgenicity in syngenetic mice. The tumor occurrence rate of GM-CSF anchored B16 cells was 58. 8% on C57BL/6 mice with 1 ? 106 B16 cells/mice inoculated ( n = 12) and that of wide-type B16 cells was 100% , The C57BL/6 mice receiving inoculation with 5 ? 105GM-CSF anchored cells/mice never grew tumor. These mice were challenged with wide-type B16 cells, and only a minority of mice grew tumor after wide-type B16 cells inoculation. Conclusion:GM-CSF protein anchored cells could elicit a protective and systemtic antitumor responses.

Aim To evaluate the clinical application of propofol in critical patients with mechanical ventilation. Methods22 patients with mechanical ventilation after major operation were randomly divided into control group and propofol group patient in the propofol group were continually transfused with propofol by micro pump. Clinical manifestations, blood pressure, heart rate and the concentration of epinephrine (E)and norepinephrine (NE) in patients of both groups were observed. Results The patients in propofol group were all in sleeping state, while those in the control group had evidently higher blood pressure, heart rate and the concentration of epinephrine and norepinephrine after wearing of ventilator. There was a significant difference between the two groups ( P<0.05) . Conclusion Propofol can make the critical patients quiet and inasleepingstate, inhilitthereleaseof epinephrine and norepinephrine, which rescdt in hemodynamic stability.

Objective:To investigate the effects of total flavonoids from Cycas Revolute on expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF),basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF),Hypoxia inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) and nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB) in model mice of Lewis lung cancer. Methods: The expressions of VEGF,bFGF,HIF-1α and NF-κB in tumor tissues were detected by immunohistochemistry and Western blot. The expression of VEGF,VEGF and NF-κB in tumor tissues were detected by fluorescent quantitative PCR.BFGF,HIF-1α and NF-κB mRNA were detected by immunohistochemistry. Results: The results of immunohis-tochemistry,Western blot and Real-time PCR showed that the results were basically the same, compared with model group, the expression of VEGF,bFGF,HIF-1α,NF-κB mRNA and the expression of VEGF,bFGF,HIF-1α and NF-κB were decreased, the difference was highly significant (P<0.05).Conclusion: The mechanism of total flavonoids from Cycas Revolute in the treatment of lung cancer may be through inhibition of the expression of VEGF,bFGF,HIF-1α,NF-κB in invasion and metastasis, and further inhibit the expression of VEGF,bFGF,HIF-1α and NF-κB in invasion and metastasis-related proteins, thus play a role of anti-lung cancer invasion and metastasis.

Objective To explore the relationship between the osteonecrotic volume (lesion size), angle and the index of necrotic extent on the femoral head. Methods Fifty-one hips in 39 patients with non-traumatic avascular osteonecrosis on the femoral head were divided into 12 equal segments from the head to the neck junction (a turning point of the spherical curve of the head) with whole hip displacement, each with 30 degrees on a coronal plane of weight-bearing surface. The osteonecrotic angle of the arc of each necrotic segment from the center of the femoral head was measured at the point of one- to 12-o'clock on imaging of two dimensional reconstruction of computerized tomography (CT) scans and anteroposterior and lateral radiographs. Necrotic volume on each segment of the femoral head was calculated with fluid displacement method. The index of osteonecrotic extent on the femoral head was calculated using direct anatomical measurements. Results Osteoneerotic volume on the femoral head at the point of 12- to one-o'clock on coronal plane was (74. 5 ± 7.4)% of the sphere equivalent of the whole femoral head, which was positively correlated to its necrotic angle [ (41.9±8. 3) degrees] at the point of one-o'clock on the plane, with a coefficient of correlation of 0. 843, and that at the point of one- to two-o'clock on the plane was (73.7 ±0. 4) %, which was positively correlated to its necrotic angle [ (41.9 ± 1.8) degrees] at the point of two-o'clock, with a coefficient of correlation of 0. 543. Osteonecrotic volume on the point of 11- to 12-o'cleck was (83.6±8.6)%, and the necrotic angle at the point of 12-o'clock was (44. 9±3.9) degrees, which were positively correlated each other, with a coefficient of correlation of 0. 701 (P <0. 01 ). Osteonecrotic volume on the femoral head was positively correlated to its necrotic angle , modified index of necrotic extent, index of necrotic extent and Kerboul conjugated necrotic angle, with coefficients of correlation of 0. 798, 0. 701, 0. 377 and 0. 398 ( P < 0. 01 ), respectively, at the point of one o' clock. Conclusions Measurements of osteonecrotic volume was positively correlated to the index of necrotic extent and necrotic angle on the femoral head, respectively. Necrotic angle on the plane at 30-degree of the trochanter on the femoral head can well reflect its necrotic volume.

Sixty-one patients with moderate to severe malignant ascites were enrolled and randomly assigned to receive intraperitoneal hyperthermal chemotherapy+intravenous chemical injection (treatment group; n=31) or routine intravenous chemical injection (control group; n=30). Short-term response and reverse effects were observed. Our results indicated that the complete remission rate, part remission rate, and clinical benefit rate in the treatment group was significantly higher than those in the control group (38.71% vs 13.33% ,41.94% vs 16. 67%, and 90.32% vs 66.67%, respectively). No difference in reverse effects was found between the two groups. Our data suggest that intraperitoneal hyperthermal chemotherapy plus general chemotherapy may effectively control the malignant ascites, and the reverse effects might be well tolerated.
