Objective To investigate the feasibility of video-assisted thoracoscopic sympathetic trunk clipping in the treatment of craniofacial hyperhidrosis. Methods A total of 10 patients were operated on under general anesthesia with double-lumen endotracheal intubation. The patients were placed in lateral recumbent position with one-lung ventilation. A 7 mm trocar and a 4.5 mm trocar were inserted at the 2~3 intercostal space on the midaxillary line and at the 4~5 intercostal space on the posterior axillary line, respectively, to introduce surgical instruments and thoracoscopic camera. Alongside the sympathetic chain, the sympathetic nerve trunk immediately below the second costal margin was blocked with small-sized titanium clips. Then the lung was inflated and the incision sutured. Afterwards, the procedure in the contralateral hemithorax was performed using the same method. Results The operating time was 55~130 min (mean, 110 min). Symptoms of craniofacial hyperhidrosis disappeared in the 10 patients, all of who were satisfied with curative results. The postoperative hospital stay was 2~3 days. Neither Horner’s syndrome nor other serious complications were observed. Seven of the patients developed slight compensation hyperhidrosis in their chest, abdomen, back or legs. All the patients had normally returned to work and physical exercises in 7~10 days. Postoperative follow-up for 1~9 months (mean,6.3 months) in all the patients found no recurrence. Conclusions Video-assisted thoracoscopic block of sympathetic trunk below the second costal margin for craniofacial hyperhidrosis is safe and effective.

OBJECTIVETo elucidate the effect of hydroxysafflor yellow A ( HYSA) on the proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) and the related mechanism.
METHODSVSMCs derived from SD rats were treated with DMEC culture medium (Control), 10 ng/ml PDGF (PDGF group), pretreatment with HYSA at different doses (1, 5, 10, 20, 40, 60 µmol/L) for 24 h then cotreatment with PDGF. After 24 h, MTT assay, Western blot and immunohistochemical staining were performed to evaluate the inhibitory effects of HYSA on VSMCs proliferation.
RESULTSHYSA inhibited PDGF induced VSMCs proliferation in a dose-dependent manner, dowregulated proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) expression and blocked PDGF activated PDGFR-MEK-ERK1/2 signaling pathway.
CONCLUSIONSHYSA inhibits VSMCs proliferation possibly via downregulating the expression of PCNA and blocking MEK-ERK1/2 signal transduction in VSMCs.

Journal of Practical Radiology 1991;0(03):-
Objective To evaluate the diagnostic value of CT by analyzing CT features of right-sided colon cancer. Methods CT findings of 35 cases with surgically proved right-sided colon cancer were analyzed retrospectively with regard to their pathologic features. Results 34 of 35(97.1%) were diagnosed accurately by CT . Of them , 29 cases (82.9%)were polypoid colon cancer , 6 cases were infiltrative colon cancer, 2 cases with typical “target sign”. 9 cases(25.7%) were found with pericolic infiltration during operation, 7 of 9 (77.8%) were detected by CT scan . Distal ileal involvement of 3 cases ( 8.6% ) were all detected by CT . Lymphadenopathy was showed in 11 (31.4%), 7 of 11(63.6%)were found by CT.Conclusion CT scan plays important role in diagnosis of right-sided colon cancer as well as in finding pericolic infiltration, distal ileal involvement and lymphadenopathy.

In this study, adults of Armillifer agkistrodontis (A.agkistrodontis) were collected from Agkistrodon acutus, and then the eggs were separated to feed mice.In the next step, when the infection model was established, blood serum of infected mice were collected after 1,2 and 3 weeks, respectively.Furthermore,ELISA and dot- ELISA were used to detect the dynamic change of specific antibodies and circulating antigens respectively. The specific antibodies increased from 8th week, reached the top at 12th week, decreased from 16th week, and then maintain at the same level constantly.Meanwhile, the specific antibodies were typed. It is evident that IgM antibody appeared first. However,it was substitute by IgG1 after 16 weeks. Moreover, the circulating antigens have been detected in the 1st week by dot-ELISA.Then,the dilution between 1:8 to 1:128were founded in 3rd week. The highest dilution with 1:256 appeared at 8th week, maintained before 11th week and then decreased gradually, which might provide a significant clinical implication for early diagnosis of circulating antigens.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of intravesical alkalised lidocaine therapy for the treatment of ketamine-associated cystitis. Methods From 2008 to 2009,7 cases of patients (6 males and 1 female; mean age 26 years) were admitted with severe lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). Three cases had painful hematuria. All cases had history of abuse ketamine. B ultrasound examination revealed marked thickness of the bladder wall and small bladder capacity. Urodynamic study were performed showing the functional bladder capacities between 20 to 100 ml(average 50 ml),Qmax between 3.7 to 10.8 ml/s, RUV between 0 to 24 ml. Urodynamic analyses showed hypersensitive bladder and decreased bladder compliance. Cystoscopy showed diffuse reddish swelling of the bladder mucosa and hemorrhagic cystitis. All patients were required to withdraw the ketamine and treated with bladder hydrodistention therapy (intravesical alkalised lidocaine with heparin). Results The biopsies of 2 patients showed bladder wall inflammation and fibrosis. LUTS was significantly relieved after bladder installation within 7 days. The functional bladder capacities increased between 150±30 ml,Qmax 11.5±3.8 ml/s. Four cases became asymptomatic. Three recurrent cases after reabused ketamin for 1 to 3 months received same intraversical treatment. All cases were followed up for 2 to 17 months. Conclusion Intravesical hydrodistention therapy with alkalised lidocaine and heparin could be the safe and effective therapy in the treatment of katamine-associated cystitis.
