As many naturally-derived proteins,keratins have intrinsic biological activity,good biocompatibility and are biodegradable.Human hair keratins,as one type of the autogenous proteins,also have low immune rejection.Compared to other autogenous materials,human hair keratins come from a variety of sources and show attraction in field of regenerative medicine.The human hair keratins applied in neural implant materials,wound dressing,cell culture substrates,drug delivery system and soft tissue reconstructions,which are based on hydrogels,scaffolds coating,films and composite materials present huge development potential in regenerative medicine.

ObjectiveTo investigate the clinical epidemiologic characteristics of chronic subdural hematoma and risk factors for its recurrence so as to offer scientific basis for treatment and prognostic evaluation. MethodsA retrospective study was done on clinical data of 150 adults with chronic subdural hematoma from the Traumatic Brain Injury Database of Neurosurgery Department of General Hospital of Tianjin Medical University to analyze the clinical characteristics and the postoperative recurrence factors of the chronic subdural hematoma.ResultsHematoma volume of the patients in the recurrence group was more than that in the non-recurrence group.Age ＞ 80 years and brain atrophy were two independent risk factors for postoperative recurrence of the chronic subdural hematoma.The recurrence rate was declined with the decrease of hematoma density on CT.The recurrence rate of the chronic subdural hematoma in the high-density group was significantly higher than that in the low-and iso-density groups. ConclusionsPreoperative hematoma volume,onset age,brain atrophy and hematoma density on CT are significantly correlated with the postoperative recurrence of the chronic subdural hematoma.A detailed clinical and radiological evaluation is of great importance for the treatment and prognostic evaluation of the chronic subdural hematoma.

A case of a patient with a unilateral maxillary defect and restricted mouth opening was presented. The two-stage hollow maxillofacial prosthesis can be used to restore the above defect, thus promoting mastication, speaking, swallowing, and sucking, as well as improving the patient's appearance. [Objective]To investigate the changes of the hemodynamics and pulmonary histopathology in acute spinal cord injured rats during isoflurane inhalation.[Method]Sixty male SD rats with body weights of 300～330 g were divided into 3 groups:chloral hydrate group,1.5% isoflurane group and 3% isoflurane group.Epidural balloon compression of the T8 spinal cord was performed.Blood pressure and heart rate were monitored during surgery.All animals were sacrificed 10 min after being compressed.The author harvested the lung and recorded lung wet/dry weight ratios(W/D)to assess lung injury severity,and observed the changes of the pulmonary pathology.[Result]Blood pressure in all animals was higher than that of the baseline during the spinal cord injury,but the heart rate was lower than that of the baseline(P0.05).Rats from the 1.5% isoflurane group exhibited severe neurogenic pulmonary edema.The W/D in 1.5% group was significantly higher than those in the other two groups(P

[Objective]To investigate the relationship between neurogenic pulmonary edema(NPE)and the changes of substance P in serum and bronchoatveolar lavage fluid(BALF)in acute spinal cord injured rats during isoflurane inhalation.[Method]Thirty male SD rats with body weight of 300-330g were randomly divided into 3 groups:1.5% isoflurane group,chloral hydrate group and sham operation group,ten in each group.Epidural balloon compression of the T8 spinal cord was performed.Alt animals were sacrificed 10 min after being compressed.The content of substance P and protein concentration in serum and BALF were measured.Then the lung permeability index(LPI)was calculated.[Result]The content of substance P in serum and BALF in 1.5% isofiurane group was higher than that in chloral hydrate group(P0.05).[Conclusion]1.5% isofturane can stimulate the release of substance P to take part in the development of neurogenic pulmonary edema in rats.

94 cases of pituitary adenomas were examined with radio immunoassay, immunohis-tochemical technique and electron microscopy. Among them, 36 cases associated with hypersomato-tropinemia and hyperprolactinemia were studied. The results showed that they could be classified into four types: (1) mixed growth hormone and prolactin cell adenomas; (2) acidophil stem cell adenomas; (3) plurihormonal adenomas; and (4) growth hormone adenmoas. The pathological and clinical characteristics were discussed.

Objective To probe into the trust of residents on the health centers' service offered in their community in general for providing better family doctor services.Methods A custom-made trust scale for medical service (including 23 indicators) and random sampling were called into play.An imercept survey was made to 224 residents of different gender,age and education in a community in Beijing regarding their overall trust on medical service.Results The different satisfaction over their selection of the 23 indicators among residents of different gender is not significant statistically (P＞0.05); the seven differences of the residents of different ages regarding their trust of the general medical service are significant statistically; the 11 differences of the residents of different education regarding their trust on the community health centers in general are significant statistically.Conclusion The GP-based community health centers are expected to improve the trust of residents on them in general,by means of enhancing government responsibility,government investment and the improvement of services of general practitioners.

OBJECTIVE: To prepare Kuijieyu enemas and establish its quality standard.METHODS: Most of traditional Chinese medicines in prescription were decocted using water and some were crushed.Then they were concentrated to prepare enemas.Pueraria lobata,Rhizoma Coptidis,Scutellaria baicalensis in Kuijieyu enemas were qualitatively identified by TLC.The content of baicalin in Kuijieyu enemas was determined by HPLC.RESULTS: The TLC spots were clear,well-separated and specific.The linear range of baicalin were 210～1 750 ?g(r=0.999 9) with an average recovery of 99.13% (RSD=1.1%,n=6).CONCLUSION: The preparation process is simple and convenient.The quality control method is simple,reliable,specific and reproducible.
