Objective To investigate the differences of coronary artery lesion between myocardial infarction patients with or without ST segment elevation. Methods This study included 126 confirmed myocardial infarction patients with acute ST segment elevation (STEMI) and 96 confirmed myocardial infarction patients with acute non-ST segment elevation (NSTEMI). All patients received coronary angiography and the results were compared between two groups. AlM: To explore clinical efficacy of hyperosmotic glucose after cataract surgery.METHODS: Eighty eyes ( 80 cases ) with ll level and above grades corneal edema after small incision cataract operation were enrolled. They were randomly divided into treatment group and control group. Control group used TobraDex eye drops and other conventional treatment and the treatment group received hyperosmotic glucose(500g/L) with the bases of the control group. The regression of corneal edema was observed by slit lamp microscope. SPSS 17. 0 statistical software was used for statistical analysis.RESULTS: The level of corneal edema at the first day after surgery, age, sexuality and nuclear hardness in the treated group were compared with those in the control group, the differences were without significances ( P>0. 05). Disappearance time of corneal edema was 4. 95 ± 3. 62d of the treatment group, and was 6. 80±3. 33d of the control group, the treatment group was better than control group (t=8. 55, P=0. 00).CONCLUSlON: Hyperosmotic glucose has exact and obvious efficacy for early corneal edema after cataract surgery.

Objective To investigate the relationship between H-type hypertension and unstable angina (UA).Methods Totally 147 elderly inpatients with hypertension and angina in our hospital were selected.Patients were divided into H-type hypertension group [n=72,serum homocysteine (Hcy) level ≥10 μmol/L] and primary hypertension group [n=75,serum homocysteine (Hcy) level ＜10 μmol/L].All patients underwent coronary angiography.Serum Hcy level was measured by enzyme method and compared between groups.Results There were statistical differences in the UA incidence,Gensini's score and high sensitive C-reactive protein (hsCRP) level between the H-type hypertension group and primary hypertension group [(44.4％ (32/72) vs.12.0％ (9/75),(44.2± 21.3) vs.(31.9±18.4),(4.3±2.1) μg/L vs.(2.0±1.9) μg/L,respectively,all P＜0.01].Serum Hcy level in H-type hypertension group was higher during UA attack than during UA remission [(22.2±7.1)μmol/L vs.(13.7±3.7)μmol/L,P＜ 0.01].Serum Hcy level during UA attack was increased in H-type hypertension group than in stable angina group [(22.2±7.1)μmol/L vs.(12.0± 4.2) μmol/L,P ＜ 0.01].Serum levels of Hcy,total cholesterol and low density lipoprotein cholesterol in primary hypertension group were higher in UA patients than in stable angina patients [(8.9±2.2)μmol/L vs.(6.6± 1.2)μmol/L,(6.9±0.7)mmol/L vs.(4.5±0.5)mmol/L,(4.6±0.8)mmol/L vs.(2.7 ± 0.6) mmol/L,respectively,P＜ 0.01 or P＜0.05].Logistic regression analysis showed that H-type hypertension was the independent risk factor for unstable angina in the elderly (OR =5.691,P ＜ 0.01).Conclusions H-type hypertension is closely correlated with unstable angina,which is the independent risk factor for unstable angina in the elderly.Serum Hcy level has significant correlation with coronary atherosclerotic plaque stability and the severity of coronary artery disease.

Objective To evaluate the effect of the gastric signet ring cell cancer(SIG)on the T,N,M stages. Methods Three hundred and fifty-one patients undergoing D2 or greater gastrectomy for gastric cancer were ana lyzed retrospectively.The T,N,M stages of 59 patients with SIG and 161 patients with tubular adenocarcmonla (TUB)were compared using univariate and multivariate analysis.Results The chi-square test showed that there were not significant differences in T,N,M stages between TUB and SIG.Multivariate Logistic regression analysis indicated that SIG Was not a independent factor influencing the T,N.M stage.Conclusion Gastric cancer with SIG has not higher T,N,M stages than that with TUB.

AIM: To study the effect of moderate hypothermia on immature rats with hypoxic-ischimic brain damage (HIBD). METHODS: The rats with HIBD were divided into normothermic recovered group (IN) and moderate-hypothermic recovered group (IH). Sham-operated rat pups were normothermic control group (NC) and moderate-hypothermic control group (HC). 0, 2, 6, 24, 48, 72 h after the end of hypoxic-ischemic (HI) insult, the brain was homogenized for measuring glucose and ATP, brain mitochondria was extracted for SDH activity, complex II activity and the capacity of ATP synthesization. RESULTS: In IN group, the brain glucose was significantly lower at 0 h, and recovered as normal at 2 h. The brain ATP and brain-mitochondrial SDH activities were firstly decreased at 2 h, 6 h and then recovered gradually, it was at it's peak value at 72 h. Brain-mitochondrial complex II activity and the capacity of ATP synthesis were recovered at 2 h, but they decreased again at 6 h and came to normal level at 72 h. In moderate-hypothermic group, all the indexes were significantly higher at all the time point than that in IN groups. CONCLUSION: Moderate hypothermia inhibits the decrease in the mitochondrial SDH activity, mitochondrial complex II activity and the capacity of ATP synthesis, increases the brain ATP concentration, improves the energy metabolism, and then protects the brain tissue. Objective To study MRI findings of pancreatic ducts of piglets with chronic pancreatitis (CP) induced by pancreatic duct ligation and analyze the relationship between pancreatic duct changes in piglets with CP and the pathological severity of CP. Methods Thirty healthy piglets were included in this study. Five piglets were randomly selected as normal control group, and the remaining 25 piglets were served as the experimental group. The duct ligation operations were performed on experimental group. After 2 to 18 weeks, pancreas and pancreatic ducts were observed on MRI. Then the pancreas was removed and graded into three types by histopathology. The relationship between the diameter of pancreatic duct or the pancreatic branch displaying rate and the severity of CP was analyzed by Spearman correlation coefficient. Results CP was found in 21 piglets( 84. 0% ) in the experimental group including mild ( n = 7 ), moderate ( n = 8 ) and severe( n = 6) pancreatitis. Pancreatic ducts were shown in mild CP and the edge of pancreatic ducts was irregular in three cases. The dilated RPD, LPD and MPD constituted the "person" form in moderate and severe CP. The diameter of pancreatic ducts was(0. 9 ±0. 3)mm, (2. 9 ± 1.4)mm and (4. 8 ± 1.2)mm in mild, moderate, and severe CP respectively. The expansion extent of pancreatic ducts was correlated with the severity of CP of piglets (r = 0. 837, P ＜ 0. 05). The pancreatic branch displaying rate increased with the increase of the severity of CP ( r = 0. 990, P ＜ 0. 05 ); the displaying rate was 0/7 for mild, 3/8 for moderate, and 5/6 for severe CP. Conclusions The dilated pancreatic ducts with "person" form in piglets with obstructive CP created by pancreatic duct ligation. The pancreatic duct changes on MRI reflect the severity of CP of piglets.

BACKGROUND:Recent studies have demonstrated that Niacinamide is capable of promoting the proliferation of intervertebral cells and improving intervertebral disc degeneration.Overloading is thought to the main cause of intervertebral disc degeneration.However,the protective effects of Niacinamide in loading induced intervertebral disc degeneration remains uncertain,OBJECTIVE:To investigate the protective effects of Niacinamide against axial loading induced degeneration of rabbit lumbar disc.DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:A randomized controlled experiment was carded out in the Central Laboratory and the Laboratory of Department of Orthopaedics,Union Hospital Affiliated to Tongji Medical College,Huazhong University of Science and Technology from November 2008 to April 2009.MATERIALS:Twenty-four Japanese white rabbits (4 months old,weighing 2.0 kg).Niacinamide was supplied by Tianjin Damao Chemical Reagent Factory.METHODS:Twenty-four Japanese white rabbits were randomly divided into 6 groups.The controllable axial loading induced rabbit lumbar disc degeneration model was adopted to impose 98N pressure on the rabbit discs to induce degeneration.Various doses of Niacinamide were given intragastrically to the rabbits in different groups:2 rabbits in group 1,the loading device was installed without pressing,and no Niacinamide was given;2 rabbits in group 2,given 50 mg/kg Niacinamide for 1 week;5 rabbits in group 3,loaded with 98N for 1 week;5 rabbits in group 4,loaded with 98N for 1 week,then the pressure was released for another week's recovery;5 rabbits in group 5,loaded with 98N and given 50 mg/kg Niacinamide for 1 week;5 rabbits in group 6,loaded with 98N for 1 week and then the pressure was released for another week's recovery,50 mg/kg Niacinamide was continually given during the 2 weeks.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:Magnetic resonance image and Thompson's grading system were used to assess degeneration degree of the discs;hematoxylin and eosin staining,immunohistochemical staining for type Ⅱ collagen,and Safranin O staining were used to evaluate histological changes;immunohistochemical staining for P161NK4A was used to evaluate cell proliferation and senescence.RESULTS：①According to the Thompson's grading system，there was no disc exhibited degeneration in group 2；5 rabbits graded Ⅱ in group 3；4 rabbits graded Ⅱ and 1 rabbit graded Ⅲ in group 4；2 rabbits graded Ⅰ and 3 rabbits graded Ⅱ in group 5；3 rabbits graded Ⅰ and 2 rabbits graded Ⅱ in group 6.MRI results revealed the alleviated degeneration in Niacinamide given groups.②The content of type Ⅱ collagen of annulus fibrosus of group 6 was 53.2% higher than that of group 4 (P＜0.01).③Safranin O-Fast Green staining density of group 2 was higher than that of group 1；The staining density of nucleus pulposus and annulus fibrosus of groups 5 and 6 was higher than the corresponding parts of group 4，especially that of nucleus pulposus (P＜0.01，P＜0.01)，and group 6 exhibited slightly increased levels than group 5.④P16INK4A positive staining rates decreased with the extension of Niacinamide administration time.CONCLUSION：Niacinamide can help to alleviate overloading-caused damage to intervertebral disc，and can benefit the recovery of damaged intervertebral disc.

Objective To investigate a feasibility of using dose constraint template (DCT) to increase conformity index (CI) of planning target volume (PTV) and improve intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) planning efficiency for early stage nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Methods Ten patients with pathological diagnosed and treated by IMRT were selected for this study. Target volumes were delineated with Corvus 6.3 of treatment planning system, two dose limiting regions(DLR) around PIN were added by extending from PIN,each DLR was 1 cm thick. We created three plans:Plan0,Planl and Plan2. PianO was without DLR and DCT, Planl without DLR but with DCT, Plan2 with both condition;but to compare dose distribution in PLTV and normal tissue using three plans. Results Three plans could fill equal request of dose distribution in PLTV and normal tissue, and their difference was not statistical significant. CI of Plan2 was increased and planning time was decreased significantly compared with Piano and Planl. Conclusloa Usage of DCT together with DLR can increase CI of PTV and improve IMRT planning efficiency for early stage nasopharyngeal carcinoma, planning time is shortened significantly.

Objective To investigate the prevalence of vitamin D deficiency and its associated metabolic risk factors in the healthy adults in Gansu Province, a western province of China.Methods Through stratified, multistage probability population sampling, 11 300 adults (4 740 men and 6 417 women aged 18-79 years) who had been living in their current residence for at least 5 years were arbitrarily chosen from seven representative geographical cities in Gansu Province from June 2014 to December 2015.The data obtained from a questionnaire-based survey, anthropometric and biochemical assessments, and areal bone mineral density measurement were collected and analyzed.Results The overall mean serum 25(OH)D was (16.07±9.40) μg/L.The prevalence of severe deficiency (<10 μg/L), deficiency (≥10 μg/L and <20 μg/L), insufficiency (≥20 μg/Land <30 μg/L), and sufficiency (≥30 μg/L) among these adults were 17.3％, 64.6％, 11.8％, and 6.3％, respectively.The significant predictors of vitamin D deficiency included younger age and female sex(P<0.05), whereas sun exposure, physical activity, and calcium supplementation were protective (P<0.05).Serum 25(OH)D was inversely associated with parathyroid hormone (r=-0.279, P<0.001) and positively associated with serum calcium (r=0.239, P<0.001), serum phosphorus (r=0.090, P=0.018), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(r=0.100, P=0.008), and body mass index (r=0.093, P=0.014).The 25(OH)D concentration showed no significant correlation with bone mineral density (P>0.05).Conclusions Vitamin D deficiency is highly prevalent among adult populations in Gansu, northwestern of China, and is largely attributed to younger age and female sex.The cumulative effects of factors including sun exposure, physical activity, and calcium supplementation play an influential role in maintaining vitamin D levels.
