Objective To investigate the relationship between the slow acetylator genotype induced by the genetic polymorphism of N acetyltransferase 2 (NAT2) gene and the early onset Parkinson disease. Methods Polymerase chain reaction restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR RFLP) method was used and three mutant alleles M1, M2 and M3 of NAT2 were studied in 126 patients with idiopathic early onset Parkinson disease and 122 age matched randomly selected controls. Results The frequencies of alleles M1, M2 and M3 of NAT2 in patients were 8 7%,26 6% and 13 1%,respectively,however,there were 2 9%,19 7% and 14 8% in controls, respectively The difference in frequency of allele M1 was statistically significant( P =0 005) The frequency of slow acetylator genotype was higher in patients (23 0%) than in controls (10 7%), showing an OR of 2 507( P =0 009). Conclusion Our study suggests that the slow acetylator genotype of N acetyltransferase 2 might be associated with the occurrence of the idiopathic early onset Parkinson′s disease

BACKGROUND: Causes of Parkinson disease have not been mentioned clearly up to now yet. Theory of hereditary susceptibility is the main theory to explain Parkinson disease now. But there is no definite conclusion on which hereditary factors have relationship with it.OBJECTIVE: To study the relationship between gene polymorphism caused by point mutation C to T on cDNA609 basic group of reduced NAD(P) H:quinone oxidoreductase(NQO1) gene and hereditary susceptibility of Parkinson disease.DESIGN: A non-randomized synchronized control research based on patient and healthy people.SETTING: Neurology departments in two university hospitals and a senile disease research institute in a university hospital.PARTICIPANTS: Totally 126 patients(Parkinson disease group) diagnosed as Parkinson disease in Neurology Clinic of First Hospital Affiliated to Sun Yat-sen University from September 1994 to September 1997, aged 46 to 73 years, in which 74 were males and 52 were females. Totally 136 healthy adults (control group), in which 66 were males and 70 were females, who came to the clinic to do health examination at the same time, aged 40 to 72 years.METHODS: Polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP) was used to analyze NQO1 gene polymorphism in Parkinson disease group and healthy adult control group.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Mutation frequency and genotype of point mutation of basic group C to T on NQO1 gene cDNA609.RESULTS: T allele frequency in Parkinson disease group was 52% and that in control group was 43%. There was significant difference between two groups (P < 0. 005) . There was significant difference on distribution of genotype in Parkinson disease group and control group( P < 0.05). The risk incidence increased 3.8 times in individual with T allele.CONCLUSION: NQO1 gene cDNA609 mutation T allele may be a risk factor to Parkinson disease, which could be associated with the hereditary susceptibility of Parkinson disease.

Aim To study the protective effects of pharmacological preconditioning induced by sodiumferulate(SF)on isolated rat heart and its machanisms. Methods Isolated SD rat hearts were divided randomly into 5 groups : Control group (hearts were perfused by oxygenated perfusate for 100 minutes); Ischemia/Reperfusion(I/R) group (hearts suffered from 40 min global ischemia/30 min reperfusion after oxygenated perfusate for 30 minutes); Ischemia preconditioning group(hearts were preconditioned by 3 periods of 5-minute global ischemia/5-minute reperfusion before it suffered from I/R); SF group (previously hearts were perfused with oxygenated perfusate administered with 1.69 mmol?L-1 SF then subjected to I/R); Glibenclamide group (previously hearts were perfused with oxygenated perfusate administered with 1.69 mmol?L-1SF and 30 ?mol?L-1 Glibenclamide before it suffered from I/R). Results Compared with I/R group, 1.69 mmol?L-1 SF precondition improved significantly heart function, reduced the incidence and severity of ventricular arrhythmias, alleviated calcium overload in myocardial cell; furthered activities of Na+,K-ATPase and Ca2+-ATPase in myocardium. These effects were attenuated by 30 ?mol?L-1 Glibenclamide. Conclusions SF precondition can improve heart function and resist arrhythmia and Ca2+-overload. The cardioprotective effects of SF precondition maybe related with the opening of ATP-sensitive potassium (KATP) channels.

Objective To explore the effects of low load exercise on the gait and balance in patients with Parkinson's disease. Methods 12 inpatients with Parkinson's disease from May to August, 2015 accepted low load exercise on Power Rehabilitation System 14 times in 2 weeks, with the medication as before. They were assessed with 3D gait analysis and Berg Balance Scale before and after treatment. Results The step length, stride length and walking speed improved after treatment (P<0.05), and improved more in the seriously affected limbs. There was no difference in cadence, stride time, step time, single support, double support, opposite foot off and opposite foot contact after treatment (P>0.05). The scores of Berg Balance Scale improved after treatment (P<0.05). Conclusion The low load exercise can improve the gait and balance in patients with Parkinson's disease.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the clinical therapeutic effect of electric acupuncture (EA) at Sishencong (EX-HN 1) on insomnia.
METHODSTwo hundred and seventy-six patients were randomly assigned to 2 groups, 138 in each group, the EA group treated with EA at Sishencong, and the control group with oral administration of Tianmeng Capsule. The treatment course for both groups was 3 weeks. The quality and related parameters of sleep before and after treatment were evaluated with a multi-channel sleep detector.
RESULTSAfter treatment, the quality of sleep was improved in both groups (P < 0.05), as compared with before treatment, the difference in related parameters was significant respectively (P<0.05 or P <0.01), however, the improvement in the EA group was superior to that in the control group (P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONEA at Sishencong has obvious effect on insomnia.
