In Alzheimer's disease there is obvious evidence of insulin resistance in the brain. Thiazolidinediones,a kind of insulin sensitizer, not only improves insulin sensitivity, but also decreases inflammation, promotes release and clearance of?-amyloid protein, all are beneficial to the improvement of memory.

Background Excimer laser corneal refractive surgery is widely used because it reduces the dependency of refractive error eye to glasses. However, the adverse effects of anti-inflammatory drugs is a problem after operation.Lotemax eyedrops is a kind of steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, with a good effect on the operative eye.But its influence on intraocular pressure(IOP) after long-term topical administration is less studied. Objective This study was to investigate the influence of lotemax eyedrops on IOP after long-term topical administration in myopic eyes received excimer laser corneal refractive surgery. Methods An one-month retrospective case serial study was adopted. The case history data of 1552 eyes from 1552 Patients who received excimer laser corneal refractive surgery were collected in Tangshan Eye Hospital from 2011 January to 2012 January, including 321 eyes with laser in situ keratomileusis(LASIK),608 eyes with sub-Bowman keratomileusis (SBK) and 623 eyes with femtosecond laser for flap excimer laser in situ keratomileusis(FS-LASIK).Lotemax eyedrops was topically administered after operation 4 times per day initial and then decreased 1 time weekly for 1 month.IOP was measured in before,1 week,2 weeks,3 weeks,4 weeks after operation with non-contact tonometer. The increasing range of IOP was divided into <5 mmHg,5-15 mmHg and > 15 mmHg after operation.Optical head parameters were measured by Heidelberg retina tomography when IOP increasing after operation. Results Within 1 month, elevated IOP was found in 47 of 1552 eyes after administration of lotemax eyedrops, including 3.12% (10/321) in the LASIK group,3.29% (20/608) in the SBK group and 2.73% (17/623) in the FS-LASIK group, without significant difference among them(x2 =1.95,P>0.05).The IOP elevated 1 week after operation and remained normal after that till drug withdrawal in all eyes. There were no significant differences in the disk area (1.65 ±0.44) mm2 vs.(1.66 ±0.44) mm2,disk volume (0.40 ±0.09)mm3 vs.(0.39±0.08) mm3 and mean nerve fiber layer thickness (0.28 ± 0.08) mm vs.(0.29 ± 0.07) mm in IOP elevation duration compared with 1 month after IOP recovery(t =0.34,0.81,0.48,P>0.05).Conclusions Topical administration of 0.5% lotemax eyedrops after excimer laser corneal refractive surgery leads to reversible high IOP.It is very important to monitor the IOP during use of the drug.

Objective To express recombinant Vp1 protein of chlamydiaphage φCPG1, prepare monoclonal antibody against Vp1 protein and utilize it to screen clinical isolates of Chlamydia trachomatis. Methods The Vp1 protein was obtained by prokaryotic expression, and monoclonal antibody against this protein was prepared by hybridoma technique. ELISA and Western blot were used to identify monoclonal antibodies. Then, the monoclonal antibody was prepared in quantity by injecting hybridoma cells into the abdominal cavity of BALB/C mice, and purified by using protein G affinity chromatography. Clinical isolates of Chlamydia trachomatis were screened for the chlamydiaphage by immumofluorescence assay using the prepared monoclonal antibody. Results Purified Vp1 protein was obtained. The monoclonal antibody against Vp1 protein was gained after 3times of sub-clone and consistently identified as IgG1. Three hybridoma cell strains that stably secreted monoclonal antibody were generated. Chromosome analysis of hybridoma cells showed that the mean number of chromosome was 96, most of them were telocentric and a few were submetacentric. The titer of purified monoclonal antibody was more than 1: 12 800. Twenty clinical isolates were screened by using the monoclonal antibody and no positive results were obtained. Conclusions The monoclonal antibody against Vp1 protein of chlamydiaphage φCPG1 is successfully prepared, while no chlamydiaphage is detected by immumofluorescence assay using the prepared antibody in 20 clinical isolates of Ct.

Objective:To assess the guidance of 3D reconstruction in the surgical and orthodontic management of maxillary palatal impacted canines with cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT).Methods:22 adolescent patients with 26 impacted maxillary conines were examined by CBCT.CBCT 3D reconstruction was used to observe the impaction of the canines.Measurements were taken to evaluate spatial relationship between the canine and adjacent structures and resorption of neighboring incisor roots. Results:CBCT was effective to localize the impacted canines. All of the maxillary palatal impacted canines inclinated mesially, angles of impacted ca-nines to occlusal plane were 61.1°±18.1°,there were 8,5,3 and 10 impacted canines found in classⅠ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ and Ⅳ mesial mal-position respectively.3 adjacent lateral incisors and 2 central incisors were extracted because of severely root resorption.Normal occlu-sion was achieved for 26 impacted canines by the traction of the canines into dental arch and reaching the occlusal plane. Conclusion:CBCT can spatially show the palatal impaction of maxillary canines and the relationship to adjacent tooth, can guide the treatment plan and traction direction, therefore increase therapeutic effect.

Natural products are valuable resources for discovering new drugs. So far, screening bioactive compounds from organism extracts is still an important and challenging task. Traditional biometric guided method involves repeated fractionation steps and bioactivity tests, which are time-consuming, labor-consuming, and inefficient. Ligand fishing is a bioanalysis method for screening ligands from complex organism extracts based on intermolecular affinity interactions. It has the characteristics of strong specificity, high efficiency, and less requirement for sample pretreatment. In this review, we summarize the classification of ligand fishing strategy and its application in enzyme inhibitors screening. Finally, the development prospects of this technology are forecasted.

Tibetan Herbal medicine has its own complete theory based on five sources doctrine. And the theories of "Liuwei", "Baxing" and "Shiqi Gongxiao" formed the basic core components of the property theory of Tibetan medicine. However, books and literature of Tibetan medicine have never been systematically expounded and discussed about it specially which thus will limit the further development of Tibetan medicine theory. In this thesis, we firstly introduced three basic core components of the property theory-the "Liu Wei", "Baxing", and "Shiqi Gongxiao" and their interactions as well. At the same time, the links and similarities between the theory of Tibetan medicine and Chinese medicine theory were compared. The job of the thesis done above is to lay the foundation for further systematic reveal and development of Tibetan medicine theory.

Objective To evaluate hepatic artery resection and microsurgical reconstruction in radical resection of Klatskin's tumor. Methods We retrospectively reviewed clinical data of 7 patients with advanced hilar cholangiocarcinoma (Klatskin's tumor) who underwent left hemihepatectomy combined with right hepatic artery resection and microsurgical reconstruction with or without portal vein reconstruction from August 2008 to March 2012.Results Right hepatic artery was reconstructed with end-to-end anastomosis, using the reserved left hepatic artery (n =1),the remanent right hepatic artery (n =1),the hepatic artery proper (n =4) and the gastroduodenal artery (n =1),among those 2 patients underwent concomitant portal vein reconstruction.Post-operative pathology showed middle to low differentiated adenocarcinoma in 2 patients, low differentiated adenocarcinoma in 3 and papillary adenocarcinoma in 2.R0 resection was achieved in 6 patients. There was no post-operative liver failure,biliary-enteric anastomotic leakage or perioperative deaths. Conclusions Hepatic artery resection and microsurgical reconstruction increases the radical resection rate of advanced hilar cholangiocarcinoma and decreases postoperative complications.
