This study was designed to investigate the impact of ultra-filtration extract mixture from Astragals mongholicus (UEMAM) o radiosensitivity of H22 ascitic tumor in mice to 12C6+ ions radiation. The H22 ascitic tumor model was established in mice by intraperitoneal injection of 0.2 mL H22 ascitic cells. The animals were subsequently divided into 4 groups randomly, treated with normal saline, UEMAM, heavy ion beam radiotherapy and UEMAM plus heavy ion beam radiotherapy, respectively. The body weights, abdomen circumference of the mice were measured and the mouse behavior was monitored every day; survival time was recorded to evaluate life extension effect; flow cytometry technique was used to detect H22 cell apoptosis and cell cycle; protein levels of p53, Bax, Bcl-2 and cleaved Caspase-3 were analyzed by Western blot; the single cell gel electrophoresis was used to detect the level of deoxyribonucleic acid damage (DNA damage). The results suggest that UEMAM significantly increased survival time, and decreased body weights and abdomen circumference over the saline control group. The treatment increased cell apoptosis, cycle arrest and DNA damage compared to the saline control group. UEMAM significantly enhanced the therapeutic effect of heavy ion beam radiation in survival time, and decreased body weights and abdomen circumference in the tumor-baring mice. The combination increased cell apoptosis, cycle arrest and DNA damage compared to the radiotherapy group. The results of Western blot suggest that the treatment significantly enhanced p53-induced apoptotic signals. The experiment discovered that UEMAM could improve radiosensitivity of H22 ascitic tumor through activation of p53-mediated apoptotic signal pathway.

Objective To investigate the correlation between developmental function and pathological behavior in children with autism. Methods A total of 154 children with autism were tested with Revised Chinese Version Psycho-Educational Profile (C-PEP) during 2011 to 2014. Results The scores of fine movement, hand-eye coordination, and oral language of developmental function were lower in the girls than in the boys (t>2.120, P<0.05). Among the children with autism aged 2-7 years, the developmental function was better in the older group than in the younger group (P<0.05);however, it was not better in the children aged 8-10 years and>10 years than in those aged 6-7 years. There was no difference in the scores of pathological behavior between the girls and the boys (P>0.05). Some pathological behaviors were milder in the older group than in the younger group (P<0.05). The scores ofP(pass) in developmental function were positively correlated with the scores ofA(absence) in pathological behavior (P<0.01), and negatively correlated with the scores ofS(severe) in pathological behavior (P<0.01). The scores ofF(fail) in developmental function were negatively correlated with the scores ofA(absence) in patho-logical behavior (P<0.01), and positively correlated with the scores ofS(severe) in pathological behavior (P<0.01). Conclusion Develop-mental function of children with autism is highly correlated with pathological behavior, and the rehabilitation and education of children with autism aged above 7 years should be concerned.

Objective:To explore the protective effect of vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) on the prognosis of rats suffering from cardiac arrest/cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CA/CPR) under different treatment timings. Methods:The method of percutaneous epicardial electrical stimulation was used to establish CA model of rat. Fifty-three male SD rats were randomly (random number) divided into the sham group ( n=5), CPR group ( n=12), PRE group ( n=12), POST5 group ( n=12) and POST30 group ( n=12). The sham group did not experience CA/CPR. VNS treatment was started at 30 min before CA (PRE group, n=12), 5 min after recovery of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) (POST5 group, n=12), and 30 min after ROSC (POST30 group, n=12) in different VNS-treated group, respectively. The electrical stimulation was applied to the vagus nerve for 30 min with a unified parameter. The neurological deficit scores at 24, 48, and 72 h after ROSC were recorded, and the survival rate in each group was observed. TUNEL staining was used to detect the apoptosis of cortical area and the expression of α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (α7nAChR) in brain tissue was measured by immunofluorescence at 72 h after ROSC. Variables were compared with one-way analysis of variance, and survival for Kaplan-Meier curves were tested with the log-rank test. A P value less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results:Compared with the CPR group (survival rate 33.33%), both pre-treatment (survival rate 75%) and post-treatment of VNS (POST5 group survival rate 75% and POST30 group survival rate 83.33%) significantly improved the 72 h survival rate after CPR ( P<0.05), mitigated neurological deficits after ROSC, reduced the positive rate of apoptosis neurons, and up-regulated the expression of α7nAChR in cerebral cortex. There was no significant difference among the VNS-treated groups (all P>0.05). Conclusions:Both pre-treatment and post-treatment of VNS can play a protective role in rats after CA/CPR, which may be related to the activation of α7nAChR-mediated anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptosis effects.

OBJECTIVETo compare the clinical efficacy and safety between Huorongbushen and indomethacin in patients with oligospermia or asthenospermia.
METHODS86 patients with oligoasthenospermia were received at our clinic of andrology. They were randomly divided into group A and B. The patients in group A received Huorongbushen 48 g daily for 3 months, and the other patients in group B were given indomethacin 50 mg daily for 3 months. The sperm parameters of the patients were analyzed by computer-assisted sperm analysis system before and after treatment.
RESULTSPatients of group A were significantly improved in sperm concentration, forward sperm motility, total sperm motility, straight line velocity and average path velocity. Patients of group B remained unimproved in sperm concentration and were significantly improved in other sperm parameters. The patients in group A reported a significantly higher sperm concentration than that in group B. There was no significant difference between group A and B in other sperm parameters.
CONCLUSIONCompared with indomethacin, Huorongbushen is efficacious for oligoasthenospermia with lower side effects.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effects of TNF-alpha, TNF-beta and the acceptor expression about mechanical renal trauma with extraneous ADM.
METHODSThere were 104 healthy adult plain grade Wistar rat, randomly divided into four groups:8 in the group of control, 32 in the group of trauma, 32 in the group injected ADM before trauma, 32 in the group injected ADM post trauma. The experimental model of rat kidney with mechanical trauma was prepared by striking the area of rat skin reflecting by kidney with free dropping ferrous hammer in the last three groups. ADM (0.1 nmol/kg) administrated by intraperitoneal injection at 10 minutes before trauma or post trauma respectively in injected groups. All rats were executed by drawing-out all the blood in their hearts. Renal tissue was investigated to study positive expression of TNF-alpha, TNF-beta, TNFR after SABC stained.
RESULTSTNF-alpha expression:the TNF-alpha expression of trauma group was more positive than it of control group in the wound early time. The expression of group injected post trauma was less than it of trauma group at 1 h (P < 0.01). The expression of group injected before trauma was less than it of trauma group at 6 h (P < 0.05) TNF-beta expression: the TNF-beta expression of trauma group was less than it of control group at 1 h and 6 h (P < 0.05). The TNF-beta expression of group injected post trauma was more positive than it of trauma group at the same time of 1 h and 6 h (P < 0.01). TNFR expression: the TNFR expression of trauma group was less than it of control group at 6 h (P < 0.01). The TNFR expression of group injected before trauma was more positive than it of trauma group in the at the same time of 1 h and 6 h (P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONSThe TNFR can regulate the TNF-alpha and the TNF-beta in dynamic balancing. The regulation of TNFR is main to TNF-alpha. What the TNF-beta participated in renal trauma mainly is the anti-damage process. ADM can reduce the expression of TNF-alpha. ADM increases the expression of TNF-beta and TNFR.
