1.Progress of PedsQLTM in cerebral palsy children
International Journal of Pediatrics 2010;37(5):527-530
More recently, the Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory Measurement Model (PedsQLTM)is wildly applicated in the research of pediatric quality of life as a pediatric population health measure. Considerable emphasis has been placed on the measurement of the quality of life of children with cerebral palsy, and many scholars carried on the investigations using the PedsQLTM abroad, while there was no related literature reported presently in China. This paper summarizes the basic structure and scoring method of PedsQLTM, and synthetically sums up the determinations of reliability, validity, and sensitivity of PedsQLTM in cerebral palsy children, and gives an overview of the effects on assessment of clinical efficacy and making a medical decision. The PedsQLTM has some superiority in measuring the quality of life in cerebral palsy children.
2.Treatment of recurrent small cell lung cancer
Journal of International Oncology 2012;39(5):373-376
Small-cell lung cancer (SCLG) relapses in the majority of patients, even though most patients respond to first-line therapy.Subsequent therapy can provide significant palliation and prolongation of survival for many patients. At present, topotecan is considered the standard second-line chemotherapy.Recently, amrubicin has also shown more favorable antitumor activity, and is the most promising at present.Unfortunately, targeted agents have failed to demonstrate effectiveness for SCLC.
3. Analysis of efficacy and survival of patients receiving second-line treatment for sensitive recurrent small-cell lung cancer
Tumor 2012;32(11):892-898
Objective: This study is aimed to retrospectively evaluate and compare the efficacy and safety among topotecan, platinum-based rechallenge and other single agent therapies as secondline chemotherapy in patients with sensitive recurrent SCLC (small-cell lung cancer). Methods: Eightythree patients with sensitive recurrent SCLC were recruited in this study and their clinical records and follow-up information were retrospectively reviewed. The efficacy of the second-line chemotherapy was evaluated, and the survival of these patients was analyzed. COX proportional hazards model analysis was conducted to find out the prognosis-related factors. Results: The median PFS (progression-free survival) in topotecan, platinum-based rechallenge and other single agent groups were 2.80, 4.07 and 1.93 months, respectively (P = 0.007); the median OS (overall survival) from the initiation of second-line chemotherapy in these three groups were 8.07, 10.57 and 7.27 months, respectively (P = 0.021); the rates of grades III-IV toxicities in these three groups were 47.6%, 69.2% and 30.0%, respectively (P = 0.033). The COX proportional hazards model analysis revealed that the factors of response to first-line chemotherapy (response vs stable disease/progression; hazard ratio = 1.27, P = 0.013), performance status score before second-line chemotherapy (0-1 vs 2; hazard ratio = 1.36, P = 0.019), and staging before secondline chemotherapy (limited vs extensive; hazard ratio = 2.16, P = 0.006) were independent prognostic predictors of OS after second-line chemotherapy. Conclusion: The sensitive recurrent SCLC patients who were classified as limited-stage SCLC and having a therapeutic response to first-line chemotherapy and a performance status score of 0-1 may benefit from the second-line chemotherapy. Platinum-based rechallenge as a second-line chemotherapy regimen has an advantage of prolonged PFS and OS as compared with topotecan or other single agent therapy. Copyright © 2012 by TUMOR.

Objective: To study the effect of the ryegrass powder on the insulin resistance in obese rats. Method: Thirty four Wistar rats were divided into three groups by random:control group fed with normal diet, both obese group and ryegrass powder group fed with high lipid diet for 6 w and then the ryegrass powder group fed ryegrass powder of 0 and 2 g/(kg bw?d) respectively for 4 w. Then blood lipids, glucose, free fatty acid and insulin were measured. Euglycemic clamp technique was used. Results: The blood glucose, insulin, TG, TCH, LDL and FFA of the obese group were obviously (P

Objective To explore the expression of acid seining ion channels-3 (ASIC3) in lung tissue in rats with acute lung injury (ALI). Method Twenty four male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were randomly divided into four groups: LPS groups (LPS 2 h, LPS 4 h, LPS 6 h group, n=6), stimulated by LPS for 2, 4, 6 hours, respectively; normal control group, injected with saline (NS group, n=6). The ALI models were produced through venous injection of LPS, and the criteria was the characteristic pathological changes in the lung tissue. Ar-terial blood gas analysis was observed, lung wet and dry weight ratio (W/D), lung histopathology and ASIC3 ex-pression were detected. Data were expressed as mean±standard deviation. Independent Sample T test and One-way ANOVA and Kendall's tau_b were used for comparison in SPSS 13.0, and changes were considered as statistieal-ly significant if P value was less than 0.05. Results The partial pressure of oxygen (PaO2) in LPS 2 h, LPS 4 h, LPS 6 h group was (67.47±6.01), (59.17±7.18), (52.54±7.62) , respecively, and was significantly lower than that in eontrol group (98.15±1.06) (P<0.01). Compare with control group, pH was significantly lower in LPS4 h group (7.28±0.04), LPS6 h group (7.24±0.03) (P<0.01). Inflammation cells gradually increased, alveolar septum was widened, edema existed in interstitial spaces, and pulmonary structures gradually destroyed in LPS groups. The expression of ASIC3 in LPS4 h, LPS 6 h group was (205.91±10.12), (196.51± 18.60), respectively, and was significantly lower thanthat in control group (220.23±10.11) (P<0.05). The W/D in LPS 6 h group was (5.18±0.21), and was significantly higher than that in the control group (4.45± 0.18) (P<0.05). Conclusions ASIC3 is expressed in alveolar epithelial cells and bronchial epithehal cells in LPS-induced ALI rats.

Wuhan Pu Ai Hospital implemented the pharmaceutical direct supply mode since October 2006 as an experiment. The pilot proved the mode as successful in reducing drug costs proportion, promoting rational use of drugs, and raising business volume of the hospital.Authors also recommend to further efforts in drug supply price supervision mechanism, government subsidy mechanism, direct supply catalogue and drug supply mode among others.Other recommendations include innovation in directly supply mode, hospital internal reform, packaged performance appraisal and incentive mechanism for medical workers, and building a ceiling mechanism for total medical expense control.

AIM To investigated the effect and mechanism of Houttuynium (HOU) on splenectomy animals. METHODS The models of splenectomy mice and splenectomy rats were made and delayed type hypersensitivity (DTH) reaction, ANAE (+) cell percentage of peripheral blood lymphocytes, Con A-induced thymus and groin lymph node lymphocyte proliferation, the amount of lymphocytes of groin lymph node, and T cell subpopulation in peripheral blood were measured. RESULTS HOU ig (60 mg*kg-1, 120 mg*kg-1) can strikingly enhanced delayed type hypersensitivity (DTH) reaction, ANAE(+) cell percentage of peripheral blood lymphocytes. strengthened Con A-induced groin lymph node lymphocyte proliferation, raised the amount of lymphocytes of groin lymph node in splenectomy mice. But the effects of them on Con A-induced thymus lymphocyte proliferation were not apparent. HOU ig (40 mg*kg-1, 80 mg*kg-1) improved Th subset, reduced Ts subset, and then modulated the rate of Th/Ts in splenectomy rats. CONCLUSION HOU strengthened the cellar immune function of splenectomy animals by promoting the compensating capability of lymph node and regulating T cell subpopulation.
