To discuss the feasibility of the pharmacodynamic evaluation method for traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula particles, with traditional decoction for reference and the intervention of Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex in rats with ulcerative colitis (UC). First of all, the similarity of traditional Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex decoction and formula particles of different manufacturers was defined by using the IR fingerprint. The UC rat model was established and given Houpo formula particles of different doses and manufacturers, with the decoction for reference, in order to observe disease activity index (DAI), colon mucosa damage index (CMDI), pathologic changes, nitric oxide (NO), endothdin (ET), substance P, vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP). Their intervention effects on UC rats were compared to study the difference between Sanjiu and Tianjiang Houpo formula particles, in order to demonstrate the feasibility of the pharmacodynamic evaluation method for Houpo formula particles. According to the results, Houpo formula particles showed similar pharmacodynamic actions with the traditional decoction. The pharmacodynamic comparison of Houpo formula particles of different manufacturers showed no statistical significance. The experiment showed that on the basis of the TCM compounds, a prescription dismantlement study was conducted to define target points of various drugs. The traditional decoction was selected for reference in the comparison of corresponding formula particles for their pharmacodynamic equivalence. This method could avoid controversies about single or combined boiling of formula particles, and give objective comments on the pharmacodynamic effect of the formula particles. The method is proved to be feasible.

Manganese(Mn) is one of the essential trace elements in biologic metabolism. With proper quantity,Mn acts as some enzymes’active groups, reactivators, and participates in the physiological functions of central nervous system.Overdose exposure to Mn in industry may result in occurrence of occupational manganism, which can cause damage of many aspects of the body such as nerve, immunity and reproduction. The aim of present essay is to review the current studies on nerval behavior function and biomarkers of manganism both in China and other countries.

Objective To set up an effective and low-price way for enriching dendritic cells precursor from chronic myelogeous leukemia by Percoll density gradients. Methods Peripheral blood mononuclear cells(PBMCs) were collected by separation through Ficoll-Hypaque,then PBMCs were separated by 55% Percoll gradients. The cell type and DCs expressing CD1a,CD86 were detected in the high-density group(C),low-density group(B) and non-Percoll separation group(A).Results After separation of 55% Percoll, the percentage of promyelocytes and myelocytes in group B was obviously higher than those in group A and group C(P

Objective To explore the effect of trimetazidine on myocardial structure injury induced by pyran adriamycin and to clarify the protective effect of trimetazidine on. the changes of myocardial structure and its mechanism. Methods 36 Wistar rats were randomly divided into control group, model group and treatment group. The rats in model group and treatment group were injected with pyran doxorubicin 2.5 mg·kg-1 (concentration 2 g·L-1 )by the caudal vein once a week. The rats in control group were injected with equivalent normal saline for 6 weeks. The rats in treatment group were intragastricly infused with trimetazidine 5.4 mg · kg · d-1 one day before making the model. The rats in control group and model group were injected with equivalent normal saline for 8 weeks. At the end of the experiment, the myocardial enzymes in serum of the rats in various groups were measured. The morphology of myocardium tissue was detected by light microscope and electron microscope. Results Compared with model group, the levels of myoglobin, troponin I and alanine transaminase (ALT)of the rats in treatment group were significantly decreased (P<0.05).Under light microscope the myocardium of the rats in model group arranged disorderly, the structure was severely damaged, emyocardial was seen, the myofilament was dissolved;the myocardium of the rats in treatment group arranged in order, the structure was nearly integrated, partial dissolution and fracture were found.Under electron microscope in model group the myocardial muscle bundle dissolved, fractured and disappeared, and the mitochondria was decreased, and the cytoplasmic matrix cavitation was seen;the cardiomyocytes sarcomeres of the rats in treatment group arranged in order, local myofilaments were reduced slightly, the surrounding mitochondria were oval and arranged in parallel between the muscle bundles. Conclusion Trimetazidine has protective effect on the cardiomyocyte injury caused by pyran adriamycin, and its mechanism may be related to decreasing the injury of mitochondria and myocytes.

Objective To investigate the function of helper T lymphocyte cell(Th)1/Th2 cytokine in food allergy development. Methods A total 110 Balb/c mice were randomly divided into 2 groups:control group(40 mice)and food allergy group(70 mice).Food allergy animal models were established by ovalbumin, performed by skin prick test;in positive reaction mice, serum specific IgE,IL-4 and IFN-? were measured by enzyme linked immuosorbent assay(ELISA),and intestinal pathology were performed, and the mRNA expressions of IL-10,TGF-? in intestinal were measured by real-time PCR assay. Results In food allergy group, the mRNA expression of IL-10,TGF? in intestinal decreased(P

Objective To explore the changes of weight, body mass index(MBI),serum glucose, serum insulin in sodium valproate(VPA)-treated children with epilepsy. Methods The study was carried out in 30 epileptic children treated with VPA for 3 months.Weight, height, serum glucose and insulin levels were conducted before and after VPA treatment.Serum insulin levels were detected by radioimmunoassay. Results After 3 months' treatment, body weight [(15.68?3.82)kg vs(19.64?4.75)kg,t=3.56 P0.05].Conclusions VPA therapy can make insuline weight,BMI,serum insulin increased and may lead to insulin resistance.Insulin resistance may be one of the reasons for weight gain in VPA-treated patients.
