1.Improve the Integrative Quality of Medical Students by Strengthening the Construction of Campus Culture
Chinese Journal of Medical Education Research 2006;0(10):-
This paper presents how Shantou University Medical College constructs the campus culture with its own characteristics to cultivate the high caliber students. And then four ways to build campus culture will be discussed in this paper.

Objective To investigate the expression of transforming growth factor ?_1(TGF?_1)in renal cortex from uninephrectomized diabetic rats. Methods Wistar rats were divided into uninephrectomized rats(group A), streptozotocin diabetic rat(group B). Blood glucose, serum insulin level and body weight, kidney weight, kidney weight/body weight as well as renal tissue protein contents were observed after 1, 4 weeks of streptozotocin injection. The expression of TGF?_1, precollagen 1?(Ⅳ) and fibronectin mRNA were measured by Northern blot analysis, and TGF?_1 protein by Western blot analysis in kidney cortex. In addition, ACE activities were determined by fluorimetric assay in plasma, kidney cortex and medulla. Results Group B demonstrated significantly elevated blood glucose and decreased serum insulin level. Kidney weight、kidney weight/body weight and renal tissue protein contents progressively increased despite total body weight loss. There was significant(P

Objective To investigate the effects of antisense Smad2 oligodeoxynudeotides(ODN) on fibronetin(FN) and collagen Ⅳ(ColⅣ) secretion of rat mesangial cells cultured with high glucose, explore the action of Smad2 in the glomerulosclerosis and to find a new method to retard the progress of glomerular fibrosis. Methods 20-mer antisense, sense and random ODNs were designed and synthesized that were phosphorothioate modified to increase stability. The antisense ODN encompassed the ATG of the rat Smad2 gene. ODN was tranferred transiently into rat mesangial cells through liposome. Rat cells were treated with high glucose. mRNA and protein of Smad2 were detected by RT-PCR and cytochemistry. FN and ColⅣ were examined by ELISA. Results Antisense ODN significantly decreased mRNA and protein expression of Smad2 in rat mesangial cells treated with high glucose(P

Objective To summarize the perioperative nursing experience of microsurgical denervation of the spermatic cord to treat idiopathic chronic orthialgia. Methods We retrospectively analyzed the clinical record data of two patients with idiopathic chronic orthialgia, who received microsurgical denervation of the spermatic cord in our hospital, including pre-and postoperative symptom scores, evaluation of mental state and wound nursing. Results Both patients got complete pain relief and were discharged one week after operation. No would infection and mental fluctuation was noted. Conclusions The reasonable individual perioperative nursing is an elemental component of recovery for patients with chronic orthialgia who experienced microsurgical management.

In 2016, a national one million general population cohort project was set up in China for the first time in "Precision Medicine Research" Key Project, National Key Research and Development Program of China, which consists of general population cohorts in seven areas in China. As one of the seven major areas in China, northeastern China has unique climate and specific dietary patterns, and population aging is serious in this area. And the burden of chronic and non-communicable diseases ranks tops in China. Therefore, it is of great significance to establish a large general population cohort in northeastern China to explore the area specific exposure factors related to pathogenesis and prognosis of chronic and non-communicable diseases, develop new prevention strategies to reduce the burden of the diseases and improve the population health in northeastern China. In July 2018, the general population cohort study in northeastern China was launched, the study includes questionnaire survey, health examination and blood, urine and stool sample collection and detection in recruited participants. By now, the cohort has covered all age groups, and the baseline data of 115 414 persons have been collected. This paper summarizes the design and practice of the general population cohort study in northeastern China to provide reference for related research in China.
