Objective To investigate the expression and clinical significance of HGF and C-Met in cholangiocarcinoma .Meth-ods The levels of HGF and C-Met were measured by ELISA ,the expression of HGF and C-Met in cholangiocarcinoma and health control was detected by immunohistochemistry .Results The preoperative levels of HGF and C-Met in cholangiocarcinoma were higher than the health control(P< 0 .05) .Compared with the preoperative state ,the levels of HGF and C-Met in cholangiocarcino-ma on the 3rd day after operation did not change significantly .However ,the levels of HGF and C-Met on the postoperative 7th and 10th day decreased obviously .In addition ,the expression of HGF and C-Met in cholangiocarcinoma was 76 .2% ,81 .0% ,respective-ly ,which is higher than that in normal tissue ( P < 0 .01) .Conclusion There is an abnormal expression of HGF and C-Met in cholangiocarcinoma ,which may be related to the incidence and development of cholangiocarcinoma .

Objective To evaluate the clinical value of OLGA (Operative Link on Gastritis Assessment) system in pathological assessment of gastric mucosa from Chinese patients.Methods Endoscopic and pathological data of patients,who underwent the endoscopic examination of upper gastrointestinal tract from 2007 to 2012,were analyzed.Using the Sydney protocol,we graded atrophy and staged the Helicobacter pylori infection status in gastric biopsies from 108 patients with dyspepsia.We applied the OLGA system to assess the relationship between OLGA staging and grading and dysplasia/cancer,and the relationship between OLGA grading and Helicobacter pylori infection.Results Two cases of early gastric adenocarcinoma were detected at stage Ⅱ and Ⅳ,respectively.The detection rates of precancerous lesions (including intestinal metaplasia and dysplasia) in cases clustered in stages Ⅲ-Ⅳ were significantly higher than those in stages 0-Ⅱ (intestinal metaplasia:100.0％ VS 65.3％,P ＜0.001 ;dysplasia:77.8％ VS 13.9％,P ＜0.001,respectively),and there were significant differences between OLGA staging and the degree of dysplasia (r =0.671,P ＜0.001).In the subjects at stage 0-Ⅱ,we observed only 10 cases (13.9％) of mild dysplasia.The difference in rate of Helicobacter pylori infection was significant at different OLGA grade (P ＜ 0.001),and the correlation between OLGA grading and infection degree of Helicobacter pylori was significant (r =0.586,P ＜ 0.001).Conclusion Precancerous lesions and gastric adenocarcinoma tend to be discovered in patients clustered at high-risk (Ⅲ-Ⅳ) OLGA stages.OLGA staging of dysplasia can effectively differentiate the risks of gastric cancer.The OLGA grading system is consistently associated with the Helicobacter pylori infection.

Objective To investigate the potential mechanism for symptoms related to epigastric discomfort in patients without Helicobacter pylori (H.pylori) infection.Methods Patients who underwent gastric endoscopy and conformed H.pylori negative by histologic examination were enrolled.Among them,232 adult patients were collected between August 2006 and November 2006 and 31 children were collected between September 2005 and August 2009.All patients showed no apparent abnormality by endoscopic examination.The endoscopic biopsy was examined with HE or Warthin-Starry staining.Results In adult group,arteriole obstruction was found in 16 (8.8%) cases and focal haemorrhage in 82 (45.6%) cases.Both were existed in 82 (45.6%) cases.The histopathologic findings showed that arteriole obstruction in transition zone (65.2 %,P = 0.159) was common,whereas the focal haemorrhage in gastric fundus and corpus (65.6%,P=0.001) was in predominance.The symptom of heartburn was less in patients with arteriole obstruction and/or focal haemorrhage in comparison with those without these changes (x2 =8.564,P=0.003).In adolescent group,arteriole obstruction and/or focal haemorrhage accounted for 96.8% (30/31).Conclusion Gastric mucosa ischemic resulted from arteriole obstruction are commonly seen in both adult and adolescent patients,which is an important reason for epigastric discomfort in H.pylori negative patients.

Objective Collagenous gastritis is a rare entity, characterized by the deposition of a subepithelial collagen band with an inflammatory infiltrate in the mucosa.This report describes the first case of collagenous gastritis occurring in a young Chinese woman and reviews the literatures.Methods The patient underwent the gastroscopy screening, and the biopsy specimens were treated with HE staining, Masson staining, Congo red staining and Warthin-Starry staining.Patients' clinical data was discussed and followed up.Results A twenty-year-old girl had intermittent epigastric pain for 4 years, abdominal distention, hiccup and weight loss for two months.The gastric endoscopy revealed diffuse white nodular appearance of the mucosa in angular incisure and antrum.Pathologic examination of the gastric biopsies from the antrum and angular showed a subepithelial collagen deposition with moderate infiltrates of lymphoplasma cells and eosinophils of the lamina propria.The collagen band measured up to 120.3 μm (mean 43.8 μm).Prednisone 20 mg/d for 4 weeks led to clinical remission and weight gain.Conclusion There are about 40 cases in literatures to date, and the cause and pathogenesis of collagenous gastritis remain unknown.According to the clinical and pathological characteristics, the patient in this article is the subtype of collagenous gastritis that occurring in children and young adults.Specific therapy has not been established, the gluten-free diet and glucocorticosteroid may be helpful to relieve symptoms in collagenous gastritis patients.

This paper revealed the accumulation regularity of polysaccharides and alcohol-soluble extracts contents of Dendrobium officinale leaves, which have provided basis for the development and utilization of the leaves. The polysaccharides and alcohol-soluble extracts contents of three D. officinale strains leaves collected in different growing periods were determined by phenol-sulfric acid method and hot-dip method respectively. The results showed that the content of polysaccharides in leaves was 4.45% -12.17%, and was about a quarter in stems. The alcohol-soluble extracts content in leaves was 7.45% - 29.34%, and was 1.5 times that of stems. The quality variation of polysaccharides in leaves was closely related to the phenophase. The leaves with lower level of metabolism in three stages: winter, early germination stage and deciduous period, which led to lower content of polysaccharides. The leaves at the vigorous growth stage with higher content of polysaccharides. The alcohol-soluble extracts were closely associated to the formation and germination of buds. The content of alcohol-soluble extracts peaked before sprout, and promoted the growth of new shoots.

The 28th International Conference on Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)-Motor Neuron Disease was held in Boston from December 8 to 10, 2017. The conference covered 23 topics, 102 special topics and 446 papers. This article briefly introduces some topics of the conference, involving basic research, clinical research and clinical trials. Among these, basic studies include genetics, cell biology and pathology, and superoxide dismutase1 gene ALS related pathology; clinical studies include the progression of ALS disease, cognitive behavioral disorders, and biological markers.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effect of cilazapril on endothelial cell function and fibrinolysis system in the canine atrial fibrillation (AF) models.

METHODSAll canines were divided into three groups: (1) Control group, without atrial pacing; (2) Atrial pacing group, in which atrial fibrillation was established by rapid atrial pacing at 400 bpm for 6 weeks; (3) Atrial pacing together with cilazapril group, in which cilazapril was given before and after atrial pacing. Nitric oxide (NO) of atrial endocardium was measured with NO-specific microelectrode. The expression of plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) and tissue-type plasminogen activator (tPA) protein in atrium was determined by Western Blot analysis and immunohistochemical staining. Plasma levels of von Willebrand Factor (vWF), PAI-1 and tPA were analyzed by enzyme-linked immunoadsorbent assay.

RESULTSNO production from atrial endocardium was significantly increased in atrial pacing together with cilazapril group than atrial pacing group [(42.6 +/- 9.9) nmol/L vs (23.4 +/- 5.8) nmol/L, P < 0.05], whereas the plasma levels of vWF were decreased [(75.4 +/- 12.8)% vs (125.9 +/- 20.6)%, P < 0.05]. Compared to controls, the expression of atrium tPA protein in atrial pacing together with cilazapril group was significantly upregulated (4052 +/- 857 vs 1936 +/- 421, P < 0.05) and PAI-1 protein was downregulated (2487 +/- 542 vs 3164 +/- 827, P < 0.05). Cilazapril also significantly increased tPA antigen and decreased PAI-1 antigen in plasma.

CONCLUSIONCilazapril can favorably improve endothelial function and resume the balance of fibrinolysis system in AF, which might be of beneficial to hypercoagulated state in AF.

Background/Aims: Cigarette smoking is an important modifiable risk factor in kidney disease progression. However, the underlying mechanisms for this are lacking. This study aimed to assess whether nicotine (NIC), a major toxic component of cigarette smoking, would exacerbates tacrolimus (TAC)-induced renal injury. Methods: Sprague-Dawley rats were treated daily with NIC, TAC, or both drugs for 4 weeks. The influence of NIC on TAC-caused renal injury was examined via renal function, histopathology, oxidative stress, mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, and programmed cell death (apoptosis and autophagy). Results: Both NIC and TAC significantly impaired renal function and histopathology, while combined NIC and TAC treatment aggravated these parameters beyond the effects of either alone. Increased oxidative stress, ER stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, proinf lammatory and profibrotic cytokine expressions, and programmed cell death from either NIC or TAC were also aggravated by the two combined. Conclusions Our observations suggest that NIC exacerbates chronic TAC nephrotoxicity, implying that smoking cessation may be beneficial for transplant smokers taking TAC.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effects of the computer-assisted semen analysis (CASA) on human sperm movement parameters at different times after semen collection.

METHODSNinety-two semen samples with sperm density > or = 20 x 10(6)/ml and sperm liquefaction time < 20 min were placed in a incubation box at the temperature of 37 degrees C. Then the seminal parameters were analyzed with the computer-assisted semen analysis (CASA) system at 20, 30, 60 and 90 min after semen collection.

RESULTSThe percentages of grade a and b sperm were significantly lower at 30, 60 and 90 min than at 20 min (P < 0.05), so were the percentages of grade c sperm at 60 and 90 min than at 20 and 30 min (P < 0.05), but there were no significant differences in the percentage of grade c sperm between the 20-min and 30-min groups (P > 0.05). The percentages of grade a + b and a + b + c sperm were also significantly lower at 30, 60 and 90 min than at 20 min (P < 0.05). The beat cross frequency (BCF) was significantly higher at 30 min than at 20 min (P < 0.05), while the lateral head amplitude (ALH) significantly lower at 90 min than at 30 min (P < 0.05). The sperm wobbliness (WOB) was significantly higher while the curvilinear velocity (VCL) significantly lower at 90 min than at 20 and 30 min (P < 0.05). Straightness (STR) at 30, 60 and 90 min, and average path velocity (VAP) and straight line velocity (VSL) at 90 min were significantly lower than at 20 min (P < 0.05). There were no significant differences in sperm density, average motion degree (MAD) and linearity (LIN) among the four groups (P > 0.05).

CONCLUSIONThe interval between semen collection and sperm routine analysis needs to be standardized. The results of this study suggest that sperm movement parameters of normal liquefied semen samples are relatively constant at 30 -60 min after semen collection.

This study was aimed to evaluate the clinical effect and safety of Qing-Fei Tong-Luo (QFTL) ointment for treating children with pneumonia.Randomized controlled trial (RCT) was conducted among 460 cases of children with pneumonia.The observation group was given QFTL ointment combined with basic treatment.And the control group was only treated by basic treatment.Evaluation was given on the total clinical efficacy,disappeared time of fever,cough,expectoration,shortness of breath,and medication safety.The incidence of respiratory diseases was followed up on the 30th days after drug withdrawal.The results showed that in the aspect of clinical efficacy between two groups,the cure rate of the observation group was 98.26％,and that of the control group was 93.89％,with statistic significance (P ＜ 0.05).The cure rate of the observation group was better than that of the control group.There was statistical difference on expectoration disappeared time (P ＜ 0.05).There was no statistical difference on disappeared time of fever,cough and shortness of breath (P ＞ 0.05).There was statistical difference on the incidence of respiratory diseases on the 30th days followed-up after drug withdrawal (P ＜ 0.05).There was no statistical difference on the incidence of upper respiratory tract infection,pneumonia and asthma (P ＞ 0.05).No adverse reactions occurred in the observation group.It was concluded that QFTL ointment combined with basic therapy on the treatment of pneumonia in children was significantly better than the control group in the aspect of clinical efficacy,expectoration disappeared time and the incidence of bronchitis.It is safe and effective.The prognosis is good and worthy of promotion in the clinical practice.
