In order to investigate the relationship between gastric juice ammonia concentrations and severity of inflammation in helicobacter pylori (Hp ) associated gastritis. Gastric juice ammonia concen- trations were measured in 39 cases Hp -positive and 23 cases Hp -negative chronic gastritis patients .at the same time , the severity of inflammation in gastric untral mucosa was also evaluataed by the method of polymorphonuclear (PMN) and mononuclear (MN ) count. Objective To discuss the illness mechanism and the reason of defective energy of the stomach and intestines with acute panereatitis.Method 43 cases of acute pancreatitis was studied which had the stomach and intestinal insufficiency to determine lesion degree of the stomach and intestines acording to the change of abdomen signs.Results The data found that the patient of light acute pancreatitis had light abdominal distention,cirumscribed abdominal tenderness and rebounding pain,weaken gurgling sound;most advanced acute pancreatitis had severe abdominal distention,abdominal tenderness and rebounding pain,almost no gurgling sound.Conclusion Abdominal sign could be a indicator to determine patient's condition of acute pancreatitis and a standard to diagnose acute pancreatitis.

Objective To propose a method for the determination of droxidopa concentration in human plasma by HPLC method for the study of the pharmacokinetics of droxidopa.Methods After a single oral dose of 200 mg droxidopa capsule was administered to 12 healthy Chinese male volunteers,we used perchloric acid to precipitate proteinum and then determined the droxidopa concentration in plasma by HPLC.The pharmacokinetic parameters of droxidopa were calculated by 3P87 software.Results The linear range was 0.025-2 ?g/ml.Pharmacokinetic parameters were: T1/2(108.50?30.78)min,AUC(185.74?26.41) ?g?ml-1?min-1,CL(1.08?0.08)ml/min,Tmax(99.90?10.05)min,Cmax(0.74?0.08)?g/ml.At 10 h after administration,droxidopa was eliminated from the blood almost completely.Conclusion The method we proposed is sensitive,reproducible,and easy to operate.Pharmacokinetics of droxidopa in vivo is fitted to two-compartment model.

Pooled literatures showed that the induced abortion in China faces many problems:the number of induced abortion remains large; most cases are young and nulliparity women; the frequency of abortion is high; and the interval between one and another abortion is short. Health promotion strategies should be applied to address these problems. It is important to increase the population's awareness of contraception,especially among nulliparity and migrant populations. Routine and effective contraceptive methods should be recommended and emphasized during induced abortion and delivery to lower the rate of induced abortion.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the influence of social support on the life quality of burn survivors.

METHODSThree hundred and sixty patients admitted to our hospital from July of 1995 to July of 2002 were investigated by social support questionnaire (PRQ-85 Part2) and life quality self-evaluation questionnaire (GQOLL) 1 to 2 years after burns. The patients were divided into 3 groups (high, middle and low level of social support groups) according to the scores in the survey. The influence of different levels of social support on the degree of satisfaction of life and living quality were analyzed with SPSS11.0 software.

RESULTSThe living satisfaction score and living quality score of patients with high and middle levels of social support were 54.6 +/- 7.1, 57.4 +/- 8.1 and 46.8 +/- 5.2, 51.3 +/- 5.7, respectively. On the other hand, those with low level of social support, the scores were 51.2 +/- 8.1 and 43.6 +/- 5.0, respectively.

CONCLUSIONThe life quality of burn patients can be improved through reinforcement of the social support.

Objective To evaluate the role of chemokine CXC ligand 13 (CXCL13) in spinal cord in neuropathic pain (NP) in rats.Methods One hundred and eight male Sprague-Dawley rats,weighing 150-200 g,were randomly divided into 4 groups (n =27 each):sham operation group (group S),group NP,small interference RNA (siRNA) negative control group (group NS) and CXCL13-siRNA group (group CS).The animals were anesthetized with intraperitoneal ketamine 50 mg/kg.NP was induced by ligation of L5 spinal nerve (SNL) in groups NP,NS and CS.L5 spinal nerve was only exposed but not occluded in group S.CXCL13-siRNA lentivirus and siRNA negative control lentivirus were injected intrathecally in groups CS and NS,respectively.Mechanical pain threshold was measured at 3,7 and 14 days after SNL.Then the rats were sacrificed and L4-6 segments of the spinal cord were obtained for determination of coexpression of CXCL13 and Neun (by immunofluorescence),activation of astrocytes,and expression of CXCL13 and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) protein (by Western blot) and mRNA (by RT-PCR) in spinal cord tissues.Results Compared with group S,mechanical pain threshold was significantly decreased and the expression of CXCL13 and GFAP protein and mRNA was up-regulated at each time point after operation in groups NP,NS and CS (P ＜ 0.05).Compared with group NP,mechanical pain threshold was significantly increased and the expression of CXCL13 and GFAP protein and mRNA was down-regulated at each time point after operation in group CS (P ＜ 0.05).There was no significant difference in the indexes mentioned above at each time point after operation between groups NP and NS (P ＞ 0.05).Conclusion CXCL13 is involved in the development and maintenance of NP in rats via activation of astrocytes.

Objective To investigate the prevalence and characteristics of thyroid nodule and its relationship with thyroid function in a group of middle-aged to elderly individuals.Methods A cross-sectional,stratified,and cluster random sampling study was performed in 1 721 subjects (average age 71.4 years,from 40 to 108 years).All subjects underwent ultrasound thyroid scan,and the prevalence of thyroid nodule and its size,quantity,property,and distribution were age-stratified and analyzed.The relationship between nodule existence and thyroid function was assessed in subjects who randomly accepted TSH,FT4,and FT3 tests.Results The prevalence of thyroid nodule reached to 76.6％.The incidence of nodule increased with age (x2 =92.08,P＜0.01),and was more common in female (87.4％ vs 75.5％,P =0.001).In patients with thyroid nodule,the prevalence of solitary nodule was 25％,compared with 75％ of multiple nodules,which increased with age (x2 =78.55,P＜0.01).The prevalence of small nodule reached to 68.2％,compared with 31.8％ of large nodules,which also increased with age (x2 =36.82,P＜0.01).As to the property of nodule,solid nodule was the most common form (72.3 ％),cyst-solid nodule accounted for 26.6％,and detection rate of cyst nodule was only 2.1％,and there was no significant difference among the different age groups (x2 =14.22,P=0.076).884 among the total subjects underwent thyroid function test,multiple logistic regression analysis demonstrated that the reduction of TSH was the only independent predicting factor of thyroid nodule (P =0.005).Conclusions The prevalence of thyroid nodules was considerably high according to the examing of ultrasonographic image,especially in the elderly.The incidence of thyroid nodule,especially multiple nodules or larger nodule,increased with age and solid nodule was the most common finding.

Objective To investigate the optimization of therapeutic regimen through the adjustment of the minimum sub-field area in intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) for cervical cancer,under the premise of no influence on the dose to target volume or organs at risk.Methods A total of 12 patients with pathologically confirmed cervical cancer were enrolled,and the prescribed dose to the planning target volume (PTV) was 50 Gy in 25 fractions.The Pinnacle 8.0m treatment planning system was used for all patients,and 16 IMRT plans were developed for each patient,with the application of 9 evenly distributed fixed incidence directions (0°,40°,80°,120°,160°,200°,240°,280°,and 320°),a minimum sub-field number of 80,and a minimum sub-field hop count (MU) of 5 MU.The range of sub-field area was 2-81 cm2.Direct machine parameter optimization was used for inverse-planned optimization calculation,and all the plans met the requirements of the clinical prescribed dose.The dose-volume histogram was used to evaluate the dose distribution in target volume and organs at risk.Results With the sub-field area increasing from 2 cm2 to 81cm2,the total hop count of IMRT plan was reduced from (1405±170) MU to (490±47) MU (P=0.000),and when the sub-field area increased above 6 cm×6 cm,the total hop count was reduced significantly (P=0.000).In the IMRT plan with a minimum sub-field area of 2-49 cm2,there was no significant difference in dose between the target volume and the organs at risk (P＞0.05).The dose to the rectum,the bladder,and both femoral heads showed no significant differences across the IMRT plans with different minimum sub-field areas (P＞0.05).Conclusions When the Pinnacle 8.0m treatment planning system is used to develop IMRT plans for cervical cancer,the requirements for clinical dose can still be met with a minimum sub-field area reaching 7 cm×7 cm,and there are significant reductions in sub-field hop count and total hop count.
