Objective To find an efficient and practical reconstruction algorithm for the fluorescence molecular tomography basing on total leastsquares rule as well as the normalized conjugate gradient method.Methods The finite element method was used to get the weighting matrix from the forward diffusion model.For the inverse reconstruction problem,the total least-squares rule was employed.The normalized conjugate gradient method was applied to find the fluorochrome information in the objective area.Results The simulation experiments showed that images reconstructed by the total least-squares rule were more accurate than those reconstructed by the least-squares rule under the same circumstances when noise existed.The presented algorithm could also give consistent results when the initial guesses varied in a wide range.Conclusion The algorithm presented in this paper offers a practical and efficient reconstruction for the fluorescence molecular tomography.

BACKGROUND:Studies demonstrated that,the probability of middle and distal end of femur bone fatigue or fracture reaches maximum when the moving loads increase or under an impact load.OBJECTIVE:To analyze the stress-strain distribution,principle stress vectors and displacements of femur during gait.METHODS:The contour curves of femur and muscles attached to femur were extracted slice by slice based on the serial CT data from a healthy male volunteer,which were used to build musculoskeletal system models.And the straight-line muscle models of the lower extremities were constructed to evaluate muscles forces and joints forces by using a multi-objective optimization method based on gait analysis.The finite element models of femur during gait were built by taking muscle forces and joint forces as boundary conditions in ANSYS 10.0 to obtain the stress-strain distribution and displacements.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The maximal displacement occurred on the femur head,and the maximal stress occurred in the middle and distal end of femur during the whole gait.There exists bigger tensile stress in the location of the femur neck and middle and distal end of corpus ossis femoris.The result validates the fact that femur fracture often happens at the middle and below of femur stem from the viewpoint of biomechanics.

Objective:To analyze the radionuclide bone imaging features of spine tumors and its clinical value.Methods and results:Data of radionuclide planar whole-body bone imaging with 99m Tc-MDP were analyzed in90patients with various spinal tumors confirmed by histopathology.In49patients with metastases,bone imaging was positive in43;37vertebra showed strong uptake;30patients involved the whole vertebra with symmetrical enlargement in18;other extravertebral bone foci were seen in29.In17patients with primary malignant bone tumors,bone imaging was positive in12;11vertebra showed strong uptake;and8involved the whole vertebra;3focal lesions had local irregular bulging;other extravertebral bone foci were seen in4.In24patients with benign bone tumors,bone imaging was positive in13;6vertebra showed strong uptake; other extravertebral bone foci were seen in1.Conclusion:Spinal metastases in bone imaging are mainly multiple,strong up-take of whole vertebra and accompanied by symmetrical enlargement with other extravertebral bone foci.Primary malignant bone tumor is mainly single or multiple,strong uptake of whole vertebra without symmetrical enlargement,some with local irregular bulging lesions. During growth and progression, the microenvironment of tumors suffers a series of abnormal characteristics, which include hypoxia, acid pH, increased oxidative stress, excess glutathione (GSH), as well as certain overexpressed enzymes. Although affect or limit the cancer therapeutic outcomes, these factors provide possible approaches to strategies for cancer detection and novel therapy at the same time. Recently, based on these properties of the tumor microenvironment (TME), various kinds of responsive nano-platforms have been continuously developed and applied in cancer theranostics preliminarily. Thus, this review would introduce the typical features of TME firstly, then detailly summarize the design principles and research progress of corresponding hypoxia-responsive, pH-responsive, redox-responsive, enzyme-responsive, dual-responsive and multi-responsive nano-platforms. Finally, the challenges and the perspectives of the TME-responsive nano-platforms are briefly discussed.

Objective To study the change characteristics of erythrocyte parameters in carriers of deletional alpha-thalassemia gene.Methods 389 patients with deletional alpha-thalassemia gene determined by the gap-PCR technique were classified into three groups based on different genotypes of alpha-thalassemia including silent thalassemia group,alpha-thalassemia trait group (265 ca-ses)and intermediate thalassemia group,and contemporaneous 188 healthy adults were randomly selected as the normal control-group(NC).The erythrocyte parameters including RBC,Hb,MCV,MCH,RDW were retrospectively analyzed and their differences were compared among aboved-mentioned groups by the analysis of variance and the multiple comparison.Results Alpha-thalasse-mia manifested by different degrees of microcyte hypochromia.There were statistically significant differences in the erythrocyte pa-rameters among various genotypes and phenotypes about erythrocyte indices(P <0.05).Moreover,the Hb,MCV and MCH values were lower than those in the control group,and had the decreasing tendency with the increase of deletedα-globin gene numbers;but the RDW value was higher than that in the control group,showing the increasing tendency,the differences had statistical siginifi-cance(P <0.05).Conclusion With the increase of deleted α-globin gene number,the characteristic of small-cell low-hemoglobin is more and more remarkable.RBC has a overall increase,while Hb,MCV and MCH have a decreasing tendency,and the heterogeneity of erythrocyte volume is increased.When MCV and MCH decreasing in high risk region,thalassemia should be highly suspected, but normal MCV and MCH can not exclude silent thalassemia and alpha-thalassemia trait.

In order to investigate the characteristics of transdermal delivery of ferulic acid under the treated of microneedle arrays and the influence on permeability of rat skin capillaries, improved Franz-cells were used in the transdermal delivery experiment with the rat skin of abdominal wall and the length of microneedle arrays, different insertion forces, retention time were studied in the influence of characteristics of transdermal delivery of FA. The amount of FA was determined by HPLC system. Intravenous injection Evans blue and FA was added after microneedle arrays treated. Established inflammation model was built by daubing dimethylbenzene. The amount of Evans blue in the rat skin was read at 590 nm wavelength with a Multiskan Go microplate reader. Compared with passive diffusion group the skin pretreated with microneedle arrays had a remarkable enhancement of FA transport (P <0.01). The accumulation of FA increased with the enhancement of insertion force as to as the increase of retention time. Microneedle arrays with different length had a remarkable enhancement of FA transport, but was not related to the increase of the length. The research of FA on the reduce of permeability of rat skin capillaries indicated that the skin pretreated with microneedle arrays could reduce the content of Evans blue in the skins of rat significantly compared with the untreated group. The permeation rate of ferulic acid transdermal delivery had remarkable increase under the treated of microneedle arrays and the length of microneedle arrays ,the retention time so as to the insertion force were important to the transdermal delivery of ferulic acid.

Objective To observe the efficacy of naloxone combined with Buyanghuanwu decoction on cong -nitive function of multi -infarct dementia(MID) patients.Methods 46 patients with MID were treated with Nalox-one Hydrochloride and Buyanghuanwu decoction .Mini -mental state examination ( MMSE ) , activity of daily living ( ADL) scale and hachinski ischemic scale score ( HIS) were used to estimate the therapeutic effect after the treatment for 30 days.Results Compared to 30 days before,the MMSE score and ADL score improved after the treatment (t=3.247,3.469,all P<0.05),and the score of HIS declined (t=3.384,P<0.05).Conclusion Application of nal-oxone combined with Buyanghuanwu decoction can significantly improve congnitive level and ADL function in multi -infarct dementia patients .

To develop a method of evaluating bone mass with CT numbers (Hounsfield unit, HU), volumetric mean of CT numbers (HUm) was defined to describe bone mass for the study of bone loss caused by microgravity. Ten femurs in the tail-suspended rats experiment were scanned by CT scanner. And the RUm of the intact, proximal, middle and distal femurs were obtained from these CT data. Then regressive analysis was performed between HUm and bone mineral density (BMD) measured by DXA in those regions. When HU threshold is equal to 400, the correlation between BMD and HUm of the intact femur is the best in all cases (R = 0.887, P <0.001), and the correlation between BMD and HUm of the proximal femur (R = 0.833, P <0.01) is better than those of the middle femur (R=0.683, P<0.05) and distal femur (R = 0.744, P<0.05). Volumetric mean of CT numbers has a good linear relationship with BMD; it can accurately describe bone mass and can be used to evaluate the results of the tail-suspended rats experiment.

In order to increase the SNR of the prostate image, we have designed a RF endorectal coil. Its properties have been evaluated using a network analyzer. Moreover the images got with a special phantom show that the coil has much higher SNR at the region of interest (ROI).

Blood-eye barrier (BEB) is one of the most important structures of organism to maintain homeostasis of the eye. However, it is the major constraint for the medication of intraocular diseases. Traditional Chinese medicines have distinctive advantages for the treatment of intraocular diseases, which can be used to regulate the physiological function of human body with low toxicity. In this article, we have briefly summarized the feature of BEB, with the domestic and foreign literatures combined, and mainly reviewed current progress in the field of study on the permeability of traditional Chinese medicines and effective components in BEB and promoting methods.
