·Corneal neovascularization ( CNV) is one of the most important causes that affecting corneal transparency, and it is a high risk factor of allogeneic corneal graft rejection. lt has become a research focus for the regulation of CNV. microRNAs are a class of endogenous non-protein-coding micromolecule RNAs which play a critical role in regulating a series of life process.Researches in recent years show a close correlation between microRNA and CNV.ln this article we reviewed the recent advances in these researches.

155 endophytic fungi were isolated from Equisetum arvense L.,Impatiens chinensis L. and Myriophyllum verticillatum L. They were identified to 26 taxa. The antagonistic activities of these isolates against 6 isolates of plant pathogenic fungi were tested on the medium,and 37(23.9%) isolates were activitive against one or more phytopathogens. The percentage of antifungal active isolates from E. arvense L.,I. chinensis L. and M. verticillatum L. were 13.9%,29.2% and 37.1%,respectively. It was lower than that of terrestrial plants. The active isolates were mainly belonging to 5 genera including Cladosporium,Trichoderma and Geotrichum.

Autophagy dysregulation, mitochondrial dynamic abnormality and cell cycle re-entry are implicated in the vulnerable neurons of patients with Alzheimer's disease. This study was designed to testify the association among autophagy, mitochondrial dynamics and cell cycle in dividing neuroblastoma (N2a) cells. The N2a cells were cultured in vitro and treated with different concentrations of 3-methyladenine (3-MA). The cell viability was detected by methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium (MTT) assay. They were randomly divided into control group (cells cultured in normal culture medium) and 3-MA group (cells treated with 10 mmol/L 3-MA). The cell cycle was analyzed in the two groups 3, 6, 12, and 24 h after treatment by flow cytometry. Western blotting was used to evaluate the expression levels of mitofission 1 (Fis1), mitofusin 2 (Mfn2), microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3 (LC3), cell cycle-dependent kinase 4 (CDK4) and cdc2. The flow cytometry revealed that the proportion of cells in G(2)/M was significantly increased, and that in G0/G1 was significantly reduced in the 3-MA group as compared with the control group. Western blotting showed that the expression levels of Fis1, LC3, and CDK4 were significantly up-regulated in the 3-MA group at the four indicated time points as compared with the control group. Mfn2 was initially decreased in the 3-MA group, and then significantly increased at 6 h or 12 h. Cdc2 was significantly increased in the 3-MA group at 3 h and 6 h, and then dropped significantly at 12 h and 24 h. Our data indicated that 3-MA-induced suppressed autophagy may interfere with the cell cycle progression and mitochondrial dynamics, and cause cell death. There are interactions among cell cycle, mitochondrial dynamics and autophagy in neurons.

This study aims to optimize the most effective component formula of Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma and Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma on lung cancer A549 using the orthogonal design method, and to investigate its effects of the component formula on cell proliferation, apoptosis and cytoskeleton in lung cancer A549 cells. The orthogonal design method was introduced to optimize the most effective component formula of Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma and Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma on lung cancer A549 cells. CCK-8 assay and Real-time cell analysis were adapted to analyze the effect of component formula of Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma and Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma on A549 cells viability at different time and dose. Cell apoptosis was measured by Annexin V- FITC/PI double staining and flow cytometry. Cell skeleton protein F-actin was detected by high content screening (HCS). The optimizing component formula of Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma and Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma for total salvianolic acid, total saponins of panax ginseng and ginseng polysaccharide doses were 5, 10, 5 mg L(-1). CCK-8 assay and real-time cell analysis demonstrated that the component formula of Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma and Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma treatment could significantly decrease the A549 cell viability in both dose- and time-dependent manner compared with control group (P < 0.01). Moreover, the increase of cell apoptosis was detected by Annexin V-FITC/PI double staining and flow cytometry when cells treated with the component formula, which indicating that the component formula of Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma and Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma could induce A549 cell apoptosis in a time-dependent manner compared with control group (P < 0.01). Furthermore, compared with control group, a significant decrease in A549 cell skeleton area was found in the component formula-exposed cells in the dose-dependent manner (P < 0.01). In summary, the component formula of Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma and Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma inhibits A549 cell proliferation by inducing cell apoptosis and decreasing cell microfilament formation. All of these results will be helpful to reveal antitumor mechanism of the component formula of Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma and Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, which provides a basis for the exploration of antitumor mechanism of the component formula on lung cancer.

Objective To evaluate the effect of rapamycin on proliferation and cell cycle of human bladder cancer cell line 5637. Methods Total?ly 5637 cells were maintained in RPMI 1640 containing 10%fetal bovine serum,100 U/mL penicillin and 100μg/mL streptomycin for adherent cul?ture. Cells were grown at 37℃in a 5%CO2 incubator. The 5637 cells were treated with various concentrations of rapamycin solution(50 nmol/L, 100 nmol/L,200 nmol/L,and 400 nmol/L). The control group was daily treated with single RPMI 1640 without medication. The growth repression rate for 5637 cells was evaluated by MTT. Flow cytometry was used to investigate the effect of rapamycin of different concentrations on cell cycle of 5637 cells. Results Compared to the control group,rapamycin can inhibit the proliferation of 5637 cells in a concentration and time dependent manner. Rapamycin inhibited 5637 cells at G0/G1 thus inhibiting cell proliferation but not inducing apoptosis. Conclusion Rapamycin inhibited growth of 5637 bladder carcinoma cells and arrested cell cycle at G0/G1,indicating that mammalian target of rapamycin may play an important role in proliferation of 5637 cells and act as a new tumor therapeutic target in patients with bladder cancer.

Objective To objectively evaluate the intrusion effects on the maxillary incisors of implants versus conventional method(J-hook headgear ,utility arch) .Methods Such online databases as Cochrane library ,PubMed ,EMbase ,VIP ,Wanfang and CNKI were searched by randomized control test and prospective case controlled study about implants vs conventional anchorage for the maxillary incisor intrusion .After study selection ,assessment and data extraction conducted ,meta-analyses were performed by u-sing the RevMan 5 .1 software .Results Totally 11 studies were included ,6 studies involving 154 patients were included in the J-hook headgear group ,5 studies involving 127 patients were included in the utility arch group .The results of meta-analyses showed that :(1)Compared with the J-hook headgear ,implants had more decrement in the distance of upper center incisior cutting to palatal plane(P<0 .001) ,more decrement in overbite(P=0 .001) ,shorter treatment time (P<0 .001) ,less increase in SN-OP angle(P=0 .004) ,less decrement in distance of maxillary molar cusp to palatal plane (P=0 .020);There was no statistically significant differ-ence in overjet ,root resorption(P>0 .05) .(2)Compared with the utility arch ,implants had more decrement in the distance of the center of resistance of the upper incisor to palatal plane (P=0 .010) ,less increase in U6-PP angle (P<0 .001);There was no statis-tically significant difference in the distance of upper center incisior cutting to palatal plane ,U1-PP angle ,the distance of upper first Molar cutting to palatal plane ,sagittal position of the mesial tip of the upper first Molar ,overbite ,overjet ,course of treatment ,root resorption(P>0 .05) .Conclusion The implants anchorage intruded the maxillary incisor was better than conventional method (J-hook headgear ,utility arch) ,it has more incisor intrusion ,shorter treatment time and more comfortable for the patients ,there was no difference in root resorption between the two groups .

BACKGROUND: The morbidity of diabetes mellitus increased recently.There are few reports about the pulmonary function status of the patients with diabetes mellitus.OBJECTIVE: To comparably observe the difference of the pulmonary function status between patients with diabetes mellitus and normal persons,and to probe into the relationship between the course of disease of diabetes mellitus and the functional change of pulmonary function.DESIGN: Case controlled observation SETTING: Renmin Hospital, Wuhan University PARTICIPANTS: Totally 90 patients with diabetes mellitus hospitalized in the Renmin Hospital, Wuhan University between January 2000 and De cember 2003 were recruited. All the patients participated in the experiment voluntarily. Totally 20 cases were of insulin dependent diabetes mellitns (IDDM) and 70 cases were of non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM). Another 90 cases were divided into 2 groups with the boundary line of 10 years: group with disease course ＜10 years (n=40) and group with disease course ＞10 years (n=50). And 30 normal persons with healthy pulmonary function was set as healthy control group, all the testees were voluntary participants in the experiment.METHODS: Pulmonary function index of the participants of each group was measured: vital capacity (VC), forced vital capacity (FVC), forced expiratory volume in 1 s (FEV1%), peak expiratory flow rate(PEFR)maximal voluntary ventilation (MVV) and comparison was performed between them.Comparison of the pulmonary function status of the patients between different levels of diabetes mellitus.pulmonary function between different groups : Compared with health control group, VC , FVC and MVV of the patients with diabetes mellitus was significantly decreased (t=1.999-2.301, P ＜ 0.05).There was no significant difference in the VC, FVC and MVV between patients with monary function between patients with different diabetes mellitus: the pulmonary function status in the group with disease course ＞10 years was improved less than that in the group with disease course ＜10 years [ VC (L):2.62±0.65 vs 3.25±1.25;FVC(L): 2.40±0.52 vs 3.21±0.98;FEV1%:75.31±2.31 vs 80.63±5.56;PEFR (L/s):4.33±0.68 vs 5.98±1.02;MVV (L/s): 76.22±6.98 vs 89.21±5.69 (t=2.012-2.350, P ＜ 0.05)].CONCLUSION: Pulmonary function of the patients with diabetes mellitus has reduced tendency compared with the normal persons, and the pulmonary function of the patients with long course of disease decreases significantly. More attention should be paid to diabetes patients' pulmonary function changes.
