1.Research on the relationships between music preferences and mental health in medical students

Objective To explore the relationship between music preferences and mental health in medical students and to propose countermeasures.Methods Music Preferences Questionnaire and Chinese college students mental health scale(CCSMHS) were used to test 538 randomly selected medical students and the data was analyzed by descriptive statistics,T test and variance analysis with SPSS 20.0 and the inspection level was α=0.05.Results ①Statistically significant (P<0.05) differences were found on somatization,anxiety,depression,inferiority,paranoid,force,social withdrawal,reliance,impulse and psychotic tendencies in medical students with different preference of music style; ②Statistically significant (P<0.05) differences were found on anxiety and inferiority in medical students with different preference of music type; ③Statistically significant (P<0.05) differences were found on anxiety,depression,paranoid,force,social withdrawal and reliance in medical students with different participating ways of music; ④Statistically significant (P<0.05) differences were found on somatization,anxiety,inferiority and paranoid in medical students with different attitude about participating music activities; ⑤Medical students with different preferences of music activities preferences did not have significant difference on factor of mental health(P>0.05).Conclusion The relationship between medical students' mental health and music preferences is very close.By training and guiding music preferences of medical students in mental health education,we can improve their mental health effectively.
2.Determination of Teicoplanin in Human Cerebrospinal Fluid Using an On-line Solid Phase Extraction-Two Dimensional Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spactrometry

A method of on-line solid phase extraction ( SPE )-two dimensional liquid chromatography electrospary-tandem mass spectrometric method was established for the determination of Teicoplanin concentrations in human cerebrospinal fluid. Cerebrospinal fluid samples were treated by the on-line SPE treatment, and analyzed by LC-MS/MS. The chromatographic separation was performed on a Shiseido CAPCALL-PAK C18 column with gradient elution by using 25 mmol/L ammonium acetate ( pH 6. 0 )-acetonitrile as mobile phases, and the flow rate of 1 mL/min. Detection was carried out under the selected reaction monitoring ( SRM) in positive ionization mode with scopolamine hydrobromide as internal standard. Matrix-matched calibration curves with good correlation coefficients (R2=0. 9993, n=6) were obtained in the concentration range of 25-5000 μg/L. The average recoveries varied from 100. 8% to 109. 9%. The intra-and inter-day precisions were less than 6%. The method is proved to be rapid, sensitive, accurate, and suitable to determine Teicoplanin concentrations in human cerebrospinal fluid.
3.Development of a new open “C”-shaped molar band with nanomaterial

BACKGROUND:In the field of orthodontics, molar bands play an important role. But traditional bands have some weakness difficult to be solved in clinical use, for example, trying on cumbersomely, having to separate the
adjacent teeth beforehand, occupying bigger space and tending to cause periodontitis of molars with bands. So some clinicians use a buccal tube instead of the molar band, but it has relatively high losing rate and cannot be fixed with Transpalatal Arch and Nance.
OBJECTIVE: To invent a new open “C”-shaped molar band with nanomaterial (patent number: ZL201110057699.1) to solve the above problems as a common molar appliance.
METHODS: We made some stainless steel strips of 0.18-0.20 mm thickness and a certain length. The stainless steel strips were made to the new bands composed of buccal, lingal, distal surface and bilateral extention caused by removable parts extending to mesial surface. In order to improve retention force, its inner surface was coated by nano-hydroxyapatite and it bound to the molar crown by resin reinforced glass ionomer cements in clinical use. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The new open “C”-shaped molar band with nanomaterial overcomes
shortcomings of conventional band and buccal tube. From the design, in contrast with traditional band, it not only has no need to separate teeth beforehand and to try on repeatedly, but also less stimulates periodontal tissues. So the new band can be more suitable for clinical use.
4.Construction of Hexose Transporter-like HXT1 Deletion Mutant in Pichia pastoris

Glucose was transported by the large number of hexose transporters in yeast cells. There were 18 hexose transporter genes had been identified in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. However,as an excellent expression system,there was no information of these genes had been reported in Pichia pastoris. Based on high homologous recombination efficiency in yeast,we chose G418 resistance for screening,200 bp were cloned from the up and down sequences of HXT1 ORF respectively,then ligated to the 5′ and 3′ end of G418 resis-tance gene for recombination. After electroporation of GS115 spheroplast and screened through different G418 concentration plates,finally we obtained one HXT1 gene deletion mutant named GS115?HXT1. The growth rate and glucose consumption of this mutant were both lower than the wide type.

OBJECTIVETo study the effect of Jinlida on changes in expression of skeletal muscle lipid transport enzymes in fat-induced insulin resistance ApoE -/- mice.
METHODEight male C57BL/6J mice were selected in the normal group (NF), 40 male ApoE -/- mice were fed for 16 weeks, divided into the model group (HF), the rosiglitazone group ( LGLT), the Jinlida low-dose group (JLDL), the Jinlida medium-dose group (JLDM), the Jinlida high-dose group (JLDH) and then orally given drugs for 8 weeks. The organization free fatty acids, BCA protein concentration determination methods were used to determine the skeletal muscle FFA content. The Real-time fluorescent quantitative reverse transcription PCR ( RT-PCR) and Western blot method were adopted to determine mRNA and protein expressions of mice fatty acids transposition enzyme (FAT/CD36), carnitine palm acyltransferase 1 (CPT1), peroxide proliferators-activated receptor α( PPAR α).
RESULTJinlida could decrease fasting blood glucose (FBG), cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), free fatty acid (FFA) and fasting insulin (FIns) and raise insulin sensitive index (ISI) in mice to varying degrees. It could also up-regulate mRNA and protein expressions of CPT1 and PPARα, and down-regulate mRNA and protein levels of FAT/CD36.
CONCLUSIONJinlida can improve fat-induced insulin resistance ApoE -/- in mice by adjusting the changes in expression of skeletal muscle lipid transport enzymes.

7.FGF-21 protects H9c2 cardiomyoblasts against hydrogen peroxide-induced oxidative stress injury.

Fibroblast growth factor-21 (FGF-21) is an important metabolism regulator, however, whether FGF-21 has effects on cardiovascular remains unclear. In this study, H2O2-induced injury in H9c2 cells was used as a cell model, the anti-apoptosis potential and mechanism of FGF-21 against oxidative injury were evaluated by MTT assay, flow cytometry assay and real-time PCR. The results showed that FGF-21 could increase the cell survival of H2O2-induced injury in H9c2 cells and prevent H9c2 cells from oxidative stress-induced apoptosis. Furthermore, FGF-21 can elevate SOD activity and regulate Bcl-2/Bax expression in H9c2 cells. The results suggest that FGF-21 have protective effect against the H2O2-induced apoptosis in H9c2 cells.

8.The relationship between career decision-making self efficacy and anxiety.

OBJECTIVEThe purpose of the paper is to examine the relationship among Career Decision-Making Self Efficacy, existential anxiety and anxiety in the sample of college students during the professional choice.
METHODSData on The Revised Career Decision-Making Self-Efficacy-Shot Form, Existential Anxiety Scale (EAS), SCL-90 and self-identity status were collected and analyzed on a sample of 500 college students.
RESULTS201 rural students' career decision making self-efficacy scores were as follows: self-appraisal (12.58 ± 3.48), occupational information (12.07 ± 3.05), goal selection (12.48 ± 3.51), planning (12.17 ± 3.10), problem solving (9.75 ± 2.38), all scores were lower than urban students, the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.01). Rural Students' anxiety dimension score were as follows: death and the fate of anxiety (14.75 ± 2.56), the meaningless and empty anxiety (19.32 ± 2.88), condemnation and guilt anxiety (13.72 ± 2.38), alienation and loneliness anxiety (16.82 ± 2.51), all scores are higher than urban students, the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.01). There is negative correlation between Anxiety and career decision making self-efficacy. There is a significant positive correlation between anxiety and existential anxiety. There exists a significant negative correlation among factors of student and career decision making self-efficacy and anxiety. Meaningless and emptiness anxiety on career decision making self-efficacy are significant predictors.
CONCLUSIONThere is negative correlation among existential anxiety, occupational information and anxiety during the professional choice.

9.Relationships between genetic polymorphisms of triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells-1 and septic shock in a Chinese Han population

BACKGROUND: Triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells-1 (TREM-1) is a cell surface receptor expressed on neutrophils and monocytes. TREM-1 acts to amplify inflammation and serves as a critical mediator of inflammatory response in the context of sepsis. To date, the predisposition of TREM-1 gene polymorphisms to septic shock has not been reported. This study was designed to investigate whether TREM-1 genomic variations are associated with the development of septic shock. METHODS: We genotyped two TREM-1 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs, rs2234237 and rs2234246) and evaluated the relationships between these SNPs and septic shock on susceptibility and prognosis. RESULTS: TREM-1 rs2234246 A allele in the promoter region was significantly associated with the susceptibility of septic shock in recessive model (AA, OR=3.10, 95%Cl 1.15 to 8.32, P=0.02), and in codominant model (AG, OR=0.72, 95%Cl 0.43–1.19, P=0.02; AA, OR=2.71, 95%Cl 1.00–7.42;P=0.03). However, in three inherited models (dominant model, recessive model, and codominant model), none of the assayed loci was significantly associated with the prognosis of septic shock. The non-survivor group demonstrated higher plasma IL-6 levels (99.7±34.7 pg/mL vs. 61.2±26.5 pg/mL, P<0.01) than the survivor group. Plasma concentrations of IL-6 among the three genotypes of rs2234246 were AA 99.4±48.9 pg/mL, AG 85.4±43 pg/mL, and GG 65.3±30.7 pg/mL (P<0.01). The plasma concentrations of IL-6 in patients with AA genotypes were significantly higher than those in patients with GG genotypes (P<0.01). CONCLUSION: TREM-1 genetic polymorphisms rs2234246 may be significantly correlated only with susceptibility to septic shock in the Chinese Han population.
10.Association analysis of cytokine polymorphisms and plasma level in Northern Chinese Han patients with paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria.

BACKGROUNDWhile the incidence of paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) is relatively high in Northern China, the exact mechanism of the disease remains unknown. Immunoregulatory cytokine polymorphisms can directly regulate the expression levels of cytokines, which play a crucial role in many diseases. The purpose of this study was to study cytokine gene single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and the correlated cytokine expression levels in relationship to the PNH pathogenesis.
METHODSPeripheral blood samples were collected from 30 PNH patients and 40 healthy donors; all of the samples were collected from the Han people of Northern China. Eight SNP loci in five cytokine genes, including tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and IL-10, and aplastic anemia (AA) were assessed. TNF-a, TGF-b, IFN-g, IL-6, and IL-10 were analyzed by sequence-specific primer polymerase chain reaction (PCR-SSP). The plasma protein levels of TNF-a, TGF-b, and IFN-g were assessed by an ELISA.
RESULTSThe PNH patients had a lower frequency of the TC/GG genotype of the TGF-b gene (P < 0.01) and a higher frequency of the C allele in the TGF-b gene (+10) compared to the controls (P < 0.05). The predominant genotype of the +874 locus of the IFN-g gene was TA in the PNH patients, while that in the predominant genotype was AA in the control group and was statistically significant (P < 0.001). The frequency of the T allele in the IFN-g gene was dramatically higher in the PNH patients than in the controls (P < 0.05). The PNH patients had a reduced frequency of the GC and CC genotypes, as well as the C allele at locus -174 of the IL-6 gene compared to the controls (P < 0.01). In addition, the plasma concentrations of TNF-a, TGF-b, and IFN-g were significantly higher in the PNH group compared to the control group (P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONSExpression levels of the TNF-a, TGF-b, and IFN-g cytokines play an important role in PNH. The GC and CC genotypes, as well as the C allele of the IL-6 gene may protect the Han people of Northern China against PNH. Additionally, the TC/GG genotype of the TGF-b gene may be the protective allele. In contrast, the TA genotype and the T allele for the IFN-g gene, as well as the C allele of TGF-b may be susceptible to PNH. However, SNPs in the TNF-a and IL-10 genes did not correlate with PNH development. Alternatively, the increased plasma concentrations of TNF-a, TGF-b, and IFN-g in PNH patients may also be related to PNH development.
