Objective To investigate the expression of Clq complement receptor(ClqRp and gClqR)in the peripheral blood mononuclear cells(PBMC)of systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE), and the corre|ation between serum levels of complement lq(Clq)and anti-Clq autoantibodies(ClqAb)with ClqRp and gClqR is analyzed. The probable mechanism of ClqRp and gClqR in the development of SLE is explored. Methods The peripherial blood monouclear cells of 58 SLE patients and 30 healthy subjects were collected for the detection of the expression of ClqRp and gClqR by flow cytometry. The serum levels of Clq and ClqAb were detected by single radial immunodiffusion and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)re- spectively. The correlation between ClqRp and gClqR and other disease activity parameters, such as Clq, ClqAb, SLEDAI score, anti-dsDNA antibody, C3, C4 levels were analyzed. Results The expression of ClqRp on mononuclear and neutrophiles of SLE was(7.2?2.3)% and(3.4?2.1)%, lower than that in healthy individuals [(10.6?2.1)% and(9.0?8.7)% ], P

BACKGROUND: The use of resin-based composites is increasing in clinical practice. The success and longevity of composite-resin restorations highly depends on adequate polymerization and small polymerization shrinkage, which are closely related with light-curing modes.OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of two different light-curing methods on marginal adaptation and microhardness of packable posterior composite restorations. METHODS: Specimens were made from these moulds with 3 types of packable resin-based composites: Ecusphere-Carat, 3M Filtek P60 and Tetric Ceram HB, and 2 curing modes: standard and soft-start curing mode with halogen light. The marginal adaptation was evaluated by measuring the width of margin gap between the mold and specimens with scanning electron microscope. Vickers microhardness was tested on the top and bottom surfaces of the specimens.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: For Filtek P60 and Tetric Ceram HB, soft-start curing mode showed lower values of the widths of marginal gap than that of standard mode (t=5.78, P < 0.05; t=5.64, P < 0.05), but there was no significant difference with Ecusphere-Carat (t=1.62, P > 0.05). The top surface demonstrated higher microhardness values than the bottom surface in all experimental conditions (P < 0.05). The soft-start curing mode showed lower values of top surface hardness for the three resins than that of standard mode (P < 0.05). But no significant differences were found on the bottom surface hardness of the three resins between these two curing modes (P > 0.05). Compared with routine light-cured mode, the soft-start curing mode can reduce the polymerization shrinkage and surface hardness of packable resin-based composites.

Objective:To investigate the effect of miR-150 gene deletion on the breeding and hematologic parameters of mice. Methods:The nest litter size, wean rate and weight changes of miR-150 knock out (miR-150ko) and C57BL/6J mice were com-pared. The hematology indexes were analyzed by automated blood cell counter, the serum biochemical parameters were analyzed by automatic biochemical analyzer. Results:The nest litter size and wean rate of miR-150ko mice were significantly decreased compared with that of C57BL/6J mice. The number of total white blood cells, intermediate cells, neutrophils, and the percentage of neutrophils and intermediate cells were significantly increased in miR-150ko mice compared with that of C57BL/6J mice. However, the number and per-centage of platelets and lymphocytes decreased significantly in miR-150ko mice. In addition, the levels of serum glucose and TC were in-creased significantly in miR-150ko mice compared with that of C57BL/6J mice. Conclusion: miR-150 gene deletion impairs the breeding and has complex impact on hematologic parameters of mice.

Objective:To study the incidence rates of cancer in the urban area of Shijiazhuang city, China in 2012 based on the data of 2,374,827 registered residents. Methods: The incidence of diagnosed cancer cases in 2012 was obtained from the hospital reimbursement database of the medical insurance center of the city by retrieving the records on first-time reimbursement applications for the hospitalization of tumor patients from January 1 to December 31 in 2012. Population census data was obtained from the Population Department of the Shijiazhuang Public Security Bureau. The site-specific and sex-specific age-adjusted incidence rates were calculated. Results:The overall incidence rate, the age-adjusted rate of the Chinese population (ASRC), and the age-adjusted rate of the world population (ASRW) for both men and women were 237.53, 129.86, and 167.71 per 100,000 individuals, respectively. The incidence rate increased with age and peaked in the 75-79 years age groups of men and women at 1,729.42 and 867.35 per 100,000 individuals, respectively. The top ten most frequently diagnosed cancers in males were lung, stomach, colorectal, liver, esophagus, kidney, prostate, leukemia, bladder, as well as lymphoma, whereas those in females were the breast, lung, colorectal, stomach, cervical, uterine body, ovary, lymphoma, esophageal, and liver cancers. The incidence rate and ASRW of all cancers combined in men were 269.05 and 187.52 per 100,000 individuals, whereas those for women were 207.57 and 150.44 per 100 000 individuals, respectively. Compared with the average incidence rates of 31 Chinese cities in 2009, the ASRW of lung, stomach, and colorectal cancers in males from Shijiazhuang was nearly equal to the national level;however, the ASRW of breast cancer in females from Shijiazhuang was higher than the national level. When the incidence rates of Shijiazhuang in 2012 were compared with those of Beijing in 2009, the ASRW of stomach and esophageal cancers in men of Shijiazhuang was twice that of the same cancers in Beijing. However, the same parameters for the pancreatic and prostate cancers in men, as well as the thyroid and uterine body cancers in women of Beijing, were twice the values for Shijiazhuang. Conclusion: The ASRWs of the major types of cancer, such as the lung, stomach, colorectal, and breast cancers, in urban Shijiazhuang in 2012 were identical to those of the 31 Chinese cities in 2009. Compared with Beijing, the incidence rates of pancreatic, prostate, and thyroid cancers were significantly higher in Shijiazhuang, whereas those of esophageal and stomach cancers were significantly lower.

Objective To study effects and other related problems of surgery for patients with cervical spine fracture and ankylosing spondylitis. Methods Twelve patients with cervical spine fracture and ankylosing spondylitis were treated with surgery from April 1986 to April 2004.All eases were studied retrospectively. They were followed up for an average of 67.5 months and their complete clinical data were kept. The neurological function was evaluated by ASIA (American Spinal Injury Association) impairment scale, and the image analyzing software (Image-Pro Plus 5.1) was used to measure the angles of superior and inferior vertebral bodies of the fusion segment at flexion and extension positions. The difference between flexion and extension angles,?,served as the parameter of interspinal movement.According to the definition of spinal fusion by FDA (Food and Drug Administration),the?≥4?was considered as nonfusion.Other related problems were discussed by descriptive study. Results The average improvement in the nine patients with neurological injury was 1.3 ASIA grades. The injured segments in 10 cases were treated with fusion,of whom nine were fused by internal fixation. The fusion rate was 100%.Three cases were scheduled to have laminoplasty, but two had to receive laminectomy instead because of intraoperative complete fracture at the hinged side.Ten patients were complicated by insufficient function of major organs preop- eratively, and endotracheal intubation was difficult to perform in eight cases.Postoperative complications occurred in three cases, but fortunately healed completely. There were no deaths or fatal complications. Conclusions The neurological function can be improved by surgery for patients with cervical spine fracture and ankylosing spondylitis. Although the cervical spine is instable for most of the patients, fusion with internal fixation is indicated and can be successful. Those who had preoperative systemic diseases are likely to suffer from postoperative complications. The difficult endotracheal intubation is a common intraoperative problem.
