6.Evaluation of Chinese cobra venoms in preventing the kidney from ischemia/reperfusion injury
Chinese Journal of Nephrology 2005;0(08):-
Objective To investigate the renal protection of Chinese cobra venoms (CCV) and its mechanism in renal ischemia/reperfusion (I/R). Methods Thirty-two rats were divided into four groups. 0.1% CCV was separately infused into abdominal cavity at 0.5 h, 24 h before reperfusion in group Ⅰ and Ⅱ . Group Ⅲ suffered from kidney I/R was served as pathological control. Group Ⅳ was sham operation group. BUN and Scr were measured before ischemia and 24 h after reperfusion. Complement C3 was observed at 0, 0.5, 2, 24 h after reperfusion. The kidney samples were examined by HE stain under light microscopy. Apoptosis was detected by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase mediated dUTP-biotin in situ nick-end labeling(TUNEL). Results Significant histological damage, apoptosis of tubular cell and impaired renal function were found in group Ⅰ and Ⅲ.The above indexes decreased to a less extend in group Ⅱ (P

Objective To investigate the clinicopathologic characteristics, therapy and prognostic factors of small cell carcinoma of the cervix. Methods Clinical and pathological data of eight patients were analyzed retrospectively. Results Eight patients all presented with symptoms of abnormal vaginal bleeding or postcoital spotting. One patient had stage Ⅰ b1 disease,2 had stage Ⅰ b2 disease.2 had stage Ⅱ b disease and 3 had stage Ⅲ b disease.Histopathologic findings showed the small tumor cells had scant cytoplasm, round nuclei, absence of nucleoli, and finely dispersed chromatin.Immunohistochemical findings were positive in 7 cases for neuron-specific enolase.Three patients with stage Ⅰ b disease and 1patient with stage Ⅲb disease underwent radical hysterectomy and postoperative chemotherapy.with or without radiotherapy, and the survival period was 64,22,14 and 6 months respectively. Two patients with stage Ⅱ b disease and 2 with stage Ⅲ b disease underwent chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and the survival period was 25,9,10 and 5 months respectively. Conclusions Immunohistochemical analysis using several kinds of neuroendocrine markers is helpful in establishing the correct diagnosis in addition to focusing on characteristic histopathological features. It is necessary to use comprehensive treatment including surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy for patients with small cell carcinoma of the cervix.Chemotherapy may play an important role in the treatment.

Objective To identify the effect of specialized language training on the speech rehabilitation of total laryngectomy (TL)patients. Methods Twenty-seven TL patients were trained for esophageal speech by specialized speech-language pathologists from October 2005 to December 2006.Then the participants were followed and evaluated their esophageal speech level after one cycle of training program,1 month,3 months,6 months and 12 months after training program. Results The score of participants' esophageal speech was steadily improved during the 12 months after participating the training program. The score of esophageal speech greatly increased in the third month, and this significant improvement was kept until 12 months after the training program. The esophageal speech quality was negatively correlated with age and surgery area of patients. Conclusions Specialized speech-language training showed positive effect on esophageal speech rehabilitation, and esophageal speech training by specialists is worthy of wide application.

Journal of Interventional Radiology 2017;26(2):176-179
Objective To investigate the current situation of radiation protection capability and personal protection in the clinical practice of interventional radiology in grade-Ⅲ hospital. Methods A total of 108 medical staffs including physicians, technicians and nurses, who worked in interventional room,CT/ MR room, interventional catheterization room, radiotherapy department or radiology department in a grade-Ⅲ hospital of Guangdong province during the period from June 2014 to November 2015,were enrolled in this questionnaire investigation. The contents of self-mnade questionnaire included general demographic data, personal radiation exposure and protection.By using self-made questionnaire about the radiation protection capability of interventional work (both I-CVI and S-CVI being 0.9) the interventional radiation protection capability of the hospital was evaluated. Results In a certain grade-Ⅲ hospital of Guangdong province, the protection capability in shielding facilities, operating time and distance protection was quite strong, but the health-care leave system was lack, the occupational hazard detection was insufficient, and the protection and training system was poorly executed. In aspect of personal protection, the usage rate of lead apron in interventional procedures was only 72.2%,moreover,the rate of not wearing a radiation detector was up to 4.6%,and 9.3% of medical staff didn't know the correct wearing position of a radiation detector. Conclusion The medical institution is lack of enough attention to the personal radiation protection as well as to the occupational health of interventional medical staff. In part of the medical staff, the consciousness of radiation protection is weak and the protection knowledge is insufficient, they are lack of adequate attention to occupational protection. All these issues need to be further improved.
