3.Therapeutic observation on point-toward-point needling at points on the low back regions for residual back pain after percutaneous kyphoplasty

Objective:To observe the effect of point-toward-point needling at points on the low back regions on residual back pain after percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP),thoracolumbar function and quality of life (QOL) in patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (OVCF).Methods:A total of 72 patients with OVCF and residual back pain after PKP were included and allocated into a treatment group (n=36) and a control group (n=36) by the random number table.Cases in the control group received salmon calcitonin injection (miacalcic),for 1 mL each time,once a day,and oral intake of calcium carbonate D3 pill,600 mg each time,once a day,whereas cases in the treatment group received point-toward-point needling at points on the low back regions and electroacupuncture (EA) for 30 min each time,once a day and 6 times a week on the basis of the treatment in the control group.Treatment in both groups lasted for 2 weeks.Therapeutic efficacy indicators including visual analog scale (VAS),Oswestry disability index (ODI) and Barthel index (BI) were evaluated before and after treatment and at follow-up visit (1 month after treatment).Results:The total effective rate was 94.4% and 88.9% in the treatment group after treatment and at the follow-up visit,respectively,higher than 77.8% and 69.4% in the control group,and the between-group differences were statistically significant (both P<0.05).After treatment and at the follow-up visit,the VAS and ODI scores decreased,and BI scores increased in both groups,and the intra-group differences were statistically significant (all P<0.05).After treatment and at the follow-up visit,between-group differences of VAS,ODI and BI scores were statistically significant (all P<0.05).Conclusion:On the basis of conventional medication treatment,point-toward-point needling at points on the low back regions has a good therapeutic effect in relieving residual back pain after PKP,improving thoracolumbar function and QOL,better than conventional medication treatment alone.
4.Effects of fructose-1,6-diphosphate on adriamycin-induced calcium and sarcoplosnic reticulum Ca ~(2+)-ATPase activity in cardiomyocytes of rats

AIM: To study the effects of fructose-1,6-diphosphate (FDP) on adriamycin (ADR)-induced calcium and sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca 2+-ATPase activity in cardiomyocytes of rats. METHODS: Rats were treated with ADR by intraperitoneal injection (2 5 mg?kg -1 body weight) once every two days for 11 days, and then ADR-treated rats were intervened by FDP at different dosages (ip) once every other day for 41 days. Enzyme linked immune absorption assay (ELISA) was employed to detect froponin I (CTnI). CK-MB was examined by monoclonal antibody. Intracellular free calcium concentration was measured on fluorescent spectrophotometry and SRCa 2+-ATPase activity was examined by inorganic phosphate. RESULTS: FDP (300, 600, 1 200 mg?kg -1) significantly reduced the levels of CTnI and CK-MB in serum. 5.Diagnosis of 101 Cases of Unknown Lung Mass

Objective To explore the diagnostic value of transbronchial lung biopsy(TBLB), CT-guided percutaneous lung biopsy and sputum cytology for unknown lung mass. Methods The clinical data of 101 inpatients with unknown lung mass were retrospectively analyzed. Results Among the 101 cases, 73 cases underwent fibrous bronchoscopic examination, 18 cases underwent CT-guided percutaneous lung biopsy, and 10 cases underwent both of them.The diagnostic coincident rate of the two methods was 70%. 54 cases were diagnosed lung carcinoma by pathology. The sensitivity and specificity of TBLB for diagnosing central type of tumor were 88% and 100%, respectiely, and those for diagnosing peripheral type of tumor were 43% and 100%, respectively. The sensitivity of CT-guided percutaneous lung biopsy was 80%,while the specificity was 100%. Complication frequency in the CT-guided percutaneous lung biopsy was 22%, and much higher than that (12%) in the TBLB. Only 30% cases underwent sputum cytology examination, and the positive rat was 6%. Conclusion Sputum cytologic examination is a convenient and cheap method, but its diagnostic rate is relatively low. TBLB was the first choice for examining central type of lung mass. For the peripheral type of lung mass, examination method was selected based on the location and size of the mass.

With the understanding of stem cells biology, researchers noticed that stem cells have many similar biology characters with tumor cells, and thought that tumors were likely derived from stem cells, and gave a concept that there were tumor stem cells in tumor tissues.
7.Diagnostic and therapeutic methods for liver injury

Objective To investigate the diagnostic and therapeutic methods for liver injury.Methods The clinical data of 80 patients with liver injury were retrospectively analyzed.Results The liver injury was srede Ⅰ in 12 patients.grade Ⅱ in 25 patients,grade Ⅲ in 20 patients,srede Ⅳ in 14 patients,and grade V in 9 cases.16 patients were not treated with operation,24 patients were treated with hepatic artery ligation,and 3 patients were treated with plugging.75 patients were cured,and 5 patients died.Conclusion Liver injury should be clearly diagnosed as early as possible,correct therapeutic methods should be selected according to the state of the injury,and operative manner should be reasonably selected according to intraoperative conditions.The treatment of complications and postoperative protection to the function of important organs should be paid attention to.
8.Accuracy of tunnel-type template assisting mini-implant anchorage surgery based on multislice spiral computed tomography

BACKGROUND: Preplant diagnosis and rigorous implant strategy based on multislice spiral computed tomography (MSCT) imaging can improve success rate of mini-implants as anchorage. Effective application of imaging information in implant anchorage requires reliable tools and methods.OBJECTIVE: To investigate the accuracy of the radiographic and tunnel-type surgical templates assisting implant anchorage surgery and evaluate the clinical significance.METHODS: The transparent radiographic templates were made with occlusal rest to assist MSCT to scan two pigs' skulls locatively. After designed the implant anchorage angles in MSCT images accurately, we made the tunnel-type surgical template by angle data. A total of 32 miniscrews were implanted by surgical template, and the two pigs skulls were rescanned by MSCT. After dissected the pig alveolar process, the MSCT preoperative planning angles, the MSCT postoperative measurement angles and the measurement angles of anatomic bone samples were analyzed statistically. RESULT AND CONCLUSION: The 32 miniscrews were implanted successfully. They did not damage dental roots or surrounding important structures. Compared MSCT preoperative planning angles with MSCT postoperative measurement angles and anatomic bone samples measurement angles, there were no significant differences on axial sections or cross-sections and the r concordance correlations were very good. Results show that the radiographic and the tunnel-type surgical templates are accurate and reliable for operation and will help to improve the success rate of implant anchorage.

10.Protective effect of nano-carbon tracers on the parathyroid glands

BACKGROUND:So far there are many studies about the uses of nano-carbon tracers in the diagnosis and treatment of malignancies. However, little has been reported on the mechanism underlying protective effect of nano-carbon tracers on the parathyroid glands during thyroid cancer surgery. OBJECTIVE:To study the protective effect of nano-carbon tracers on the parathyroid in thyroid cancer surgery. METHODS:180 cases of thyroid cancer were randomly divided into nano-carbon and control groups (n=90 per group):patients in the nano-carbon group were injected with nano-carbon tracers into the thyroid before surgery, and those in the control group underwent routine thyroid cancer surgery. Then comparisons of the operating time, incision length, blood loss, postoperative hospital stay, number of lymph node dissection, lymph node metastasis as wel as hypoparathyroidism rate were performed between two groups. Besides, levels of serum calcium and parathyroid hormone in the two groups were detected at 3 days after surgery. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:There were no significant differences in the operating time, incision length, blood loss, postoperative hospital stay and lymph node metastasis between the two groups (P>0.05). The number of dissected lymph nodes of nano-carbon group was significantly higher than that of control group (P<0.05);the mis-resection rate of parathyroid and hypoparathyroidism of nano-carbon group were significantly lower than those of control group (P<0.05). Furthermore, the incidences of hypocalcemia and low parathyroid hormone of nano-carbon group were significantly lower than those of control group (P<0.05). These results suggest that the nano-carbon tracer plays a protective role on the parathyroid glands in thyroid cancer surgery, which can reduce the mis-resection rate of parathyroid, as wel as the incidences of hypoparathyroidism, hypocalcemia and low-level parathyroid hormone.
